Recommend me an overdrive for clean boost

Hi guys!

Can you recommend me an overdrive that will give make my leads level boosted, more sweeter, middy (so it can be more heard), rounder, and responsive? I'm looking to use it as a clean boost (or perhaps add a little overdrive to just to make things more evil  ).

Maxons? Ibanez? Visual Sound?

Also, what's the difference in tone between an 808 and a 9 when used as a clean boost?

By the way, my applications are for high gain music lead playing.

your choices are great pedals. i cant really complain.

as for me, i use digitech bad monkey. great mids. but as booster, it screams so clean when the drive knob is at 10 o'clock position.

the cheap BM is really a bang for the buck kind of tube screamer pedal.

If you don't mind some coloration, any of the suggested pedals should work. But if you're looking for clean boost exclusively, that's a different ballgame. Agree with plugzzzz, the RC is the way to go. Or AC if you want more drive. Other options would be MI Audio Boost 'N Buff, Visual Sound Truetone, or a Sexdrive.

Barber LTD, to add a tad bit of gain, Barber Launch Pad for a pure clean boost pedal. hehe. Or yung RC Booster.

Klon is still the best booster I've ever tried/owned. Lifts the 'veil', same sound but 'bigger' and richer.

You could also try adding a purely clean boost pedal prior to the drive.  It will definitely add more dirt but may not always make it louder.  That would depend on the pedal it is combined with.  Case in point:  I place my BnB before my LTD followed by a Direct Drive.  With the LTD, gain and volume increases.  With the BnB and Direct Drive, only the gain increases and volume remains the same.  As far as clean boost post-gain, it will only make things louder but not gainier.  Any additional gain you may have with that combination may actually be just the front-end of the amp being driven more.  Be careful however, there are really some very clean amps out there that won't break up at all for that additional gain.

it works whether your boosting high gain pedals, mid gain overdrives even some multi-Fx's patchers/settings

if your on the budget side, id go for a ts808 clone with fat boost, you don't hear much gain especially when the fat boost is on, and i love how it responds well to volume cleanup on guitar

the TS808 works well for me as well as the seymour duncan pickup booster.

When i had my keeley 808,i thought it sounded good through a dirty channel. Better than maxon808.

Hey Brian! It's rare for me to comment here, haha.

When I'm not playing anything with distortion and I don't have an amp with me, I rely on an OD3. It works really well for me kasi medyo matapang pa rin yung tunog niya. It gives me good boost without dirtying up my tone too much.

But I've also heard ts808s and ts9s that sound really really good with clean tones just as well as they do with dirty tones. If I had the money to make a new pedalboard, it'd probably have a ts808 or a ts9 in it just because they're so versatile and they sound great.

I didn't like tubescreamers for clean boost, e.g. putting it after your main dirt.  The mids are too pronounced, even with a bass boost mod and various clippers (or none).  Sort of like a lo-fi effect going on.
Why don't you take the opportunity to build your own?  Clean boosts are among the simplest you could ever build.  As for me, I like those that have transparent qualities, or even those that add a touch of treble, then roll down the tone knob and adjust on the fly.  Let the tone capacitor do the mids your looking for, I guess.
