A little OT sir bamf, i have a morley pvw(the old one) which is one weak as sh-t wah, especially if put first in the signal chain. when put after distortion, the sweep is much better but it sucks half of my tone away.

would you recommend that i do the same mod you did with the rocker pedal "windows"?

the morley's "windows" look like this-

 __________
|                    |
|                    |
|                    |
--------   -------
         |  |
         |  |
          --

do you think i should do like you did with the hellbabe?
if i understand correctly you cut out the groove in the middle and
turned the "window" into an inverse triangle, right?

or would you know of a mod for this?

I think we've done one before. I recall Anton giving me the info on how to mod morley's. It involves covering up, rather than cutting. You take some duct tape and make a "V". But it shouldnt matter much. Unless you're irritated about the abrupt sweep. Let me check if I can find the file. If I'm not mistaken, Morley themselves posted the mod.

I have a palliative for the tone suck. Inasmuch as I'd want to call it a "cure", I have to check how it fares against a true bypass or if the wah were run through a looper. It's very simple and just involves running a 6pF capacitor from the input jack to the output jack.

I did it on my Behringer CS100 compressor sustainer. I'm not sure...perhaps I was uncreative at the time, but the way I did it was to lift the output jack and insert it there. It works a a proof of concept, but in actual use, it's not advisable. Because that will mean that your signal, whether bypassed or not, will pass through the scalarizer and you will have a permanent scalarizer in your signal path.

The righter way to do it is to find an insertion point that's inside the effects circuitry that will not be in the path of the bypass route. That way, when you bypass the effect, even the scalarizer is bypassed.

i'm smelling the birth of a  true bypass scalarizer stomp box.. wahehehe..

tipong lahat ng scalarizers in one stomp box.. hehe.. grin

Why it already exists, and carries a 20dB clean boost with it. The Scalar Boost

Yesterday, there was a forumite who was selling his modded hellbabe in the classifieds section. I asked him who modded his hellbabe.

As he replied via PM, he said that he did it himself following some instructions from other website and he also recommended Sir BAMF's instructional thread here.

Ever since I had my Hellbabe, I've always been planning to bring it to Sir BAMF for some modifications. I just dont have time due to my very busy schedule at work. So I mmediately review this thread to learn more about the modded hellbabe.

At first, the procedure seems very easy. But for a person who doesnt have talent with electronics like me  grin, maybe its too risky....  grin

One of our trusted forumite here encouraged me to do it my self. So this morning, I gave it a try.

I devirginized my hellbabe using a cutter...

Waaaahhhllllaaaahhhh!!!!

The operation was very successful. My hellbabe finally got longer sweep.

OMG!!! The baby is now a lady!!!!  cheesy

I still plan to bring this to Sir BAMF for him to add some sweeter sound. Maybe if he could put some scalarizer, if possible.

Thank you my dear forumites for creating this great thread and sharing your pointers about modding the hellbabe!!!

Most specially thank you to our Genius Forumite here, Sir BAMF!!!!

Hihihi Thanks so much. While I would truly love to reap the flattering compliments, the procedure did not originate from me. It wasn't even me who found it, it was radiostationexp  grin .

Glad that you made the jump to improve your Hellbabe. Just one step more and it will become a Heavenbabe grin

It has happened before that the scalarizer reduces hum and even makes the signal louder and stronger. I won't guarantee that it will happen each and every time though. I can PM you the names of certain forumers on whose guitars it has happened though.

the result of divirginizing your hellbabe will have a quicker engage. therefore, if you step into it and has a quicker engage, you'll feel the longer sweep. that's why, we tend to cut the infrared hole.

if you did it correctly, you'll appreciate the huge difference...

good lack to your diy modification!!!

 grin

Pano ba setup nyo?

That's my current setup and I am not satisfied with it. Penge naman pic ng modded babe nyo. Para ma compare ko dun sa kin.

amp-mods-preamp-fabtone-mt2-HB-gitz

Magisa hellbabe wah, swabe sya sa clean, pero pag distort ko na, di na masyado. Kung ang waaaaaaah nya sa clean, sa ditorted e waaah na lang.

Me clips ba kayo?
