A. Zildjian 22" Medium Ride

The "stains", or whatever they are, were there when I bought it brand new. They never came off even with wear and tear. It was the ugliest of four medium rides in the store where I bought it (Salongas Cubao. Hindi pa JB noong 1976), but the sound was irresistible. It also has so many different sounds scattered around it. If I was forced to use only one cymbal in a gig, this would be it.

Thanks ulit kay Sir Raymond.

20" Paiste Alpha Power Ride

Copy ko lang yung infos from VintageDrum.com. Hindi ko pa kasi 'to nasusubukan kasi kakakuha ko pa lang from sir mondi:

Paiste Alpha 20" Power Ride Cymbal

Very bright, full, warm, energetic. Fairly narrow range, clean mix. Heavy, strong feel. Bright strong ping over clean, loud, low, focused wash. Very cutting ride for loud playing. Paiste Alpha cymbals are bright, crisp, energetic, powerful, and cutting - with clarity, warmth, and tonal definition. For players who need affordable cymbals with energy, versatility and very musical features.

bought yesterday from sir nickmar.

natuwa ako sa tunog and playability + i'm also a big fan of 21" rides (sweet rides, armand ride etc.) kasi crashable sila.
watch your problem? ;p

halos parehas lang sir eh. napadaan na kasi sa akin ang 20 k custom dark ride, 21 a sweet ride (brilliant) and right now i have 21 a sweet ride (traditional finish). for me:

20 k custom dark ride
-since MT weight niya crashable talaga (no doubt about it)
-warm washy sound

21 a sweet ride (brilliant finish)
-high pitched bell and good stick definition
-bright crashy sound

21 a sweet ride (traditional finish)
-M weight din siya but in traditional finish [mas warmer ang tunong nito para sa akin compared to the brilliant finish or let's say mas bright nalang ang brilliant finish since nasa same A series line sila (which is also known to be bright sounding.)]
-controlled wash para sa akin compared to the brilliant one
-mas matagal mag-open up ito (again, compared to the brilliant finish)
-mid-range bell and stick definition

A Sweet Ride or K Custom Ride?

yung tipong pede mong i-crashride sa song. thanks!  :-)

pero kung ako tatanungin mo, magbabase nalang ako sa weight ng cymbal. for me, MT and M weighted rides are very good crashable rides. as for the k custom ride... hmmmm... mahirap ata bro, MH kasi eh... pero it's still personal preference. kung k custom ride, wala kang itatapon sa bell at stick definition. super rich saiya dun sa characteristics na yun!

again, sorry. hindi ko nabasa mabuti yung post mo... haha. papungas-pungas nako habang nagbabasa at nag-ttype. hehe. peace! :

^^^^ NICE! PATOK! Swak na swak! maraming maraming salamat sir! just what i was looking for.

ah i see, so looks like mas versatile ang sweet ride. (at mas mura pa!) matagal na kasi talaga akong naghahanap ng versatile na ride. yung pede mong i crashride din sa mga tipong chorus ng song without overpowering the amps.

thanks rin for the suggestions! naku po, mukhang matatagalan pa ako sa pag-iisip a. di bale! matagal pa naman ata bago ako maka-ipon ng perang pambili. pero malapit narin naman bday ko atsaka pasko, baka swertehin.  :-D

sa ngayon, i'm leaning on the sweet ride(traditional though) because of this vid, plus mas mura pa siya sa pagkakaalam ko sa K Custom Ride.  :-)

Will test drive it pa lang on our Sept 30 gig at Route 196.

Zildjian 21" A Sweet Ride

When I first tried it I was a bit disappointed knowing that it sounded too washy when you ride it. Overtones were wild and overpowering. You have to tame it a bit. The bell does not project much volume and power either. But when I crash it---BOOOM! Kudeta, sir!

It opens up just a tad slower than my AC Med Crash but nonetheless it delivered the full bodied crash I had been looking for.

But sweet as it comes, here is the best part.

We used it in a recording very recently and only then did I find its beauty. The bell, the ping, the crash - blends right in and needs no further control. When crashed, the Sweet Ride showed its true spectrum of sounds and overtones. Simply put, the Sweet Ride is the most versatile ride by Zildjian.

I shall look no further for a better ride that fits our music than this one.

I use the same ride. I love it! It rings and pings. It's just sooo heavy to bring around gigs. :) Saving up for a smaller one.
