it's not just about how fast you could execute the guitar solos. i'd much rather feel every note played by the guitarist.

perf de castro is overrated. he's a great guitarist and all but i just think that his stint with rivermaya (first album) is so passe. get over it people. mike elgar could take him on any day. not only could mike elgar play guitar, he could sing too. want to listen to a great solo? listen to the live version of "alab ng puso" by rivermaya. once more, you could feel every note being played! great riff? give the red house painters a go. listen to their song "between days". awesome stuff.

perf is an accomplished guitarist. when it comes to music theory, there are not a lot of guitarists out there who could even come to par with him. that's about it though, i've heard his songs with triaxis..they're not really that great.

mike elgar shreds now but i believe that's because rico blanco wants him to. if you listen to his earlier stuff (7 foot jr days) he could pull off some nice solos without being excessive.
