The most effective and supposedly "failproof" way of enforcing SOPA and PIPA is already proposed. They came up with the use of AI, like large numbers of daemons/admins to monitor internet queries. They thought of placing digital watermarks in a big cache which will be counter checked by a daemon or a program acting as an admin. They already agreed with the use of Deep Packet Inspections which will expedite the whole process. Should the watermark tally with a query then voila. A red flag.

I guess it's hackers vs. bots and white hats..

virtual civil war anyone?

(modified it's "deep packet inspection")

very unlikely. The process of counter checking and tallying can be done by the program itself and the whole process will be in the nature of a criminal investigation by the FBI. I am not sure if such function is delegable to a private corporation.  :-(

Commercial:

http://store.warnerbrosshop.com is down. kailangang maglagay na ng scoreboard.   :-D

For now SOPA and PIPA hearings in the US congress has been postponed. Plus the point that Obama is with the internet public on this issue. The real power of the large websites at ng madlang-interwebz is their ability to utilize public power faster than the people behind SOPA to think for their next solid move. just look at what happened at the wikipedia blackout. pero sa tingin ko, mahaba-habang bakbakan pa 'to.

just to add, di lang SOPA ang bill that is trying to suppress our current internet ways. There's also PIPA (Protect IP Act) and ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement)

http://youranonnews.tumblr.com/post/16257654698/acta-in-a-nutshell-what-is-acta-acta-is-the

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PROTECT_IP_Act

there's a lot of things that will involved those two laws, lalo na yung ACTA. an impending revolution is about to happen.

Freedom does not mean the ability to impede other people's rights.  Copyrights, mechanical rights are just a few of them.

FACT: Not everyone who uses Megaupload, Rapidshare and other filesharing websites are pirates.  Some do use it for ACTUAL sharing of large files, between client and supplier.

FACT: SOPA is a blanket law.  It is indiscriminate.  So as long as a website is allegedly violating the Copyright law, it's a target.

FACT: Everyone who has used the internet has violated Copyright at least one time, knowingly or unknowingly.

I share other opinions that even though measures like this might and would be implemented, i don't think that 'file sharing' or 'piracy' can be stopped. It may be minimized for now but people will find another way to do it.  Just look at what happened to Kazaa and Limewire, they may be gone but Torrent replaced them more effectively. It seems that technology evolves much faster than laws and regulation does.

The creative industry should think of new ideas of providing better services and access for their products instead of lobbying for controversial and resentful laws.
