first amp ko Orange Crush 15R :) ang linis ng clean channel (clean nga eh) tapos yung overdrive nya very tubey rin kapag pinush mo ng OD  parang nagfefeedback lang kapag nakasagad yung reverb on full volume

Sulit yan! lalo na kapag sinasak mo sa 2x12 semi-closed back cab loaded with vintage 30s! :) natest ko na sa pala sa gig yung dark terror. litaw na litaw naman ang tunog. Ibanez 4x12 cab pala ang gamit ko nun :)

need to change the el34s in the rocker 30, pero wala ako mahanap dito sa south. they only got 6l6, 6v6 and el84's over at lyric festival. kahit audiophile wala stock at all. talk bout bad luck...
now, two issues i have:
1. san ba oks bumili ng el34's and which brand is good? i currently have jj's which i like but i'm thinkin bout gettin svetlana winged c's. i do believe parksquare makati has the audiophile stuff, pero i dunno which are the good stores. sana meron dito sa south para di na lalayo.
2. so i tried takin the amp chassis off the combo, pero the screws are stuck. as in all 4 outer screws! the screw driver keeps slippin, and baka mab-strip ko na yun screw head. this i even tried with pushin down on the screw and usin a vise grip with the screw driver. any suggestions on how to get out those stubborn screws?
its been over a week since i last had a workin orange...
thanks philmusic! \m/

You can get some good tubes from spankyrigor. I think you can also order from him if you want a different brand. http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=246374.0 (http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=246374.0)

got my rocker30 workin now. was supposed to get from spanky but one day advanced order pa, so i got from kinetic audio instead.
was a toss up betweeen the jj's and svetlana's, but then i noticed na di pala el34 yun stock ni mr. andrew na jj. it was an el34L. it was the better tube daw. somethin about the overdrive bein better, but you know how audiophile people prefer transparency so i kinda was not sure. wanted to get tubes na, so i got the jj's instead not knowin what to expect.
now when i tried it out in the rocker30, first thing i noticed was that the cleans were way better. more highs and tighter lows. panalo! parang natanggalan ng kumot yun amp ko. the dirty channel seemed tighter somewhat, not sure. pero definitely the clean channel was suh-weet!
sa mga naka-orange diyan na nag-rereklamo na masyado dark yun clean channel, you better check out the jj el34L's. next time i'll probly try a 6ca7 or kt77 kung brand new, or tesla's or =c= kung NOS. \m/

Ahh.. Crush series are solid state.. Hmm.. Kung sa studio na walang mic, mahihirapan siya sumabay sa ibang amps at drummer..
Kung solid state, better get something that's 50 watts or higher and has a 12" speaker.
I see, thanks sa sagot sir! buti nalang pala nag tanung muna ako. 50 watts at least ang requirements. balak ko paman din sana puro Orange Crush Pix Series yung amps nung strings.
Last question, anu pinag kaiba nung solid state sa tubes?

I got myself a Micro Terror a few weeks ago. Since my Bassman head has been having problems lately and it's with the repair guy now, it's best I have a back up amp for shows.
I've used it on a couple of shows / practices already and it really cuts through the mix. I love how I can just put the amp in my guitar bag.

IN!
still finding the sweet spot on this thing (kinda wanting eq knobs for easier tweaking)...but compared to the microcube..ramdam mo na digital na digital yung microcube tone haha...
Im liking it due to its size....but might take a little getting used to...the cab is a bit boxy sounding due to its size..might try to line it with some felt or something one of these days...
dialed a nice clean tone last night that would work for my man cave needs.. Volume @9 , Tone @5 Gain @2
I need some advice though..
1. When I flick the switch..may delay ba siya sa signal like a few seconds warming up or something? (a bit worried baka lemon nakuha ko)
2. Di ba nag g~glow yung parang tube sa loob? Sorry total tube noob here
3. May 2 input jacks sa speaker cab sa likod? Kahit saan ba saksak yung jack?
4. Anybody modded their speaker cabs to make it sound less boxy?
thanks in advance guys! thanks francis from the Offset thread din for the inputs last night...posted it here to get the orange thread going din..haha

1) wala naman delay yung akin 2) yup. nagglow. 3) isa lang speaker output sakin. weird kung dalawa sayo. 4) di naman boxy yung sakin. try plugging it sa 1x12 or 2x12. hassle lang yung volume. ang lakas. kaya sabayan yung 50w all tube head ko in terms of volume lalo na when the gain is up.

yes, current is running through it.unless the gray plate in the tube glows red then youre fine

That's exactly what I get with the second cab bro. Loads of bottom end and more low mids. Pero malakas talaga.. It moves more air than a 1x12 I guess. Either way it's a cool little bugger.. Congrats on the purchase :)

Salamat...

basta kapareho ng impedance.
thing lang with "vocal" speaker...it really strays away from an amps natural sound, malaki ang pagbabago sa tunog. sayang lang.

clear ko lang mga sir, so mas advisable na gumamit ng guitar cab in terms of guitar tone, but pwede sayang ikabit directly sa vocals speaker pero hindi mo makukuha ang guitar amp tone tulad ng isang guitar amp, at hindi masisira ung amp at vocal speaker pag kinabit silang dalawa?
tama po ba mga sir? salamat

just being honest. Not a fair comparison though. The laney costs more than 10k bnew right? Half the price of the CR20L. Not to mention the Laney is a tube vs. the Solid state Orange.
Just saying!
Again, my comment is not a fair comparison so please take it with a grain of salt.

I wasn't particularly fond of my Orange CR20L. Bought it from JB when it was on sale. Sold it in a few weeks. Bought a Laney Cub10 and was way happy.
I Agree ,the entry level orange amps are not really good, sound wise and build wise..actually I got the micro terror for cheaps and looking for a comparison for my microcube which was quite digital sounding...thats why I bought it..probably would sell if something nicer comes along

But fairly compared to the MG series of Marshall and Laney's LX or LG series...I would prefer Orange's CR's.

Would you happen to know of any cabs I could use to make the Orange Micro Terror giggable? I have a very, very tall and narrow 2x10 that isn't cutting at all. I've seen the tiny little amp go head to head with a Tiny Terror live on a 2x12, but I'm wondering if it'd work with a 1x12 cab. Any recommendations?

My 2 8-inch cabs can stand up to a loud drummer. Your 2 10's should be pushing more air than 1 12-inch for sure bro.

A micro terror would find it hard to go over a loud drummer, but getting a cab with a bright speaker would help. Like a Vintage 30 or something.

the Orange PPC112 should match well.
These 112 cabs are coming soon to match the Tiny & Dark Terror heads as well. It's a welcome addition to the PPC2x12's..

I'm not sure it's even a guitar cab. It's just the cheapest cab I could get at the time. Some vintage Japanese cab that's barely as wide/deep as the speaker. Couldn't cut through the mix with a punk/hardcore drummer and a bass player. The speakers might be [gooey brown stuff], and the cab might not be projecting well so I'm looking for recommendations.

FYI
the amazing CR-120 H is finally here!
I don't know true, but it is said to sound like its more expensive brother from the same mother, the Rockerverb. It is an all analog amp with the exception of the reverb, same design as the Rockerverb except that it is using Op-Amps (Operational Amplifiers) instead of tubes.
The price is nearly the same as MF. Plus the PPC410 cabs are on clearance sale in JB Music stores.

I have'nt tried Orange amps, but I read somewhere that the Tiny Terror can do all the Marshall tones (plexi, 800, jmp, etc.) Is this true?
also, a question on the dark terror,
which is a better buy? the Tiny terror or the dark terror? what one can do and the other can't and vice versa?
thanks guys.
its true. but what are you really looking for? Tiny and dark terror are two different beast. look at each items specs...

either get a wide ranged EQ like a MXR 10-Band EQ or a good pickup of your choice that has the EQ stats that suits you and dial the knobs up so you won't be drowned on the live mix on a band setting. hard thing for "Tone" only or "Shape" only orange amps are, once you dial dial down or dial up, you achieve a tone with more bass and less high or less bass and more high, no mid options, which would really has to come on a third entity.

- sino po gumamit as clean/mild breakup, at ginagamit yung ODs infront? hassle kasi walang fx yung TT, dumudumi yung tunog ng modulations/time based fx
- kaya pong sumabay w/ 112 cab sa malakas pumalong drummer sa mga small to medium venues?

Never tried stereo. The Micro Terror with the 1x10 cab is for band/personal practice and the Micro Terror with 1x12 cab is for small to medium sized gigs. I have another 1x12 cab for parallel connection in case I need more "air" or sound distribution. But running a unit at a 1x12 is already loud. Here in Singapore, almost all venues with proper sound systems will mike the amps anyway.

That's the weakest point - the power supply! Luckily you can always use a laptop adapter with the same voltage and polarity. I was able to get one. The more amperage, the better. Kapag mas mataas yung amperes, kaya na yung 4 ohms setup na full blast.

Wow good for you bro. I could only find either 19V or 12V laptop chargers :( May isang Toshiba na 15V 4A kaso mali yung jack.. I didnt wanna do a jack transplant too haha. Ended up using a multi-voltage generic. I'll try to get the stock one repaired too just for backup.

Thanks bro! The open back sounds great with the v30. Literally open sounding. Whereas yun closed back kayang kaya yun drop A na palm mute djenty [gooey brown stuff]. No idea sa drivers sa irt 112, pero it handles chuggu riffing very well. Maganda pagka-voice niya sa metal. Pangit sa cleans though. Walang character. Kinda dead sounding. Pero turn up the gain & it djents.
Yun mooer dapat yata AB lang yun tawag. The version i have wala Y na function kahit na ABY switch ang tawag dun. Maganda sana kung puede sabay.

That's what I thought so too. I've been looking for a decent ABY pedal that doesn't suck tone and so far the Radial Twin City looks to be the best bang for the buck. I got excited a bit to see a Mooer ABY but then I realized it must be a misnomer. The Orange Amp Detonator ABY looks fitting too but I think it's a bit more expensive.

Yun version 2 ng mooer ABY yata ang may proper Y function. I believe its the black one. I have the gray version whichis the only one they have locally. Hanap din ako dati ng bigshot ABY ng radial. Or kahit yun morley na switch pero wala sa mga local stores.
Cool rig yun have with the twin mini stacks. The oranges cut through like a sledge hammer! Its those mids!
I see you also have the digitech whammy on your board. Ako rin its got a pemanent spot on mine!

Sounds great at bedroom levels with one Orange PPC108 (1x8) cab. Two PPC108 cabs for a bigger space like a small bar gig. You need two of those stacks to compete with a really hard hitting metal drummer (two MT heads and 4 1x8 cabs).
Yesterday, I rehearsed with it into my Blackstar HT112 cabinet and it was loud! Pretty much as loud as two PPC 108's but with different bottom end character. The bass is tighter with the 2x8 IMO. I played it with a Laney 2x12 as well and it was as lound as my 1x12 Blackstar but again with different bottom end character. The bass is more boomy with a 2x12 IMO.
I loved it in the mix with my Blackstar HT112 cab yesterday. I havent tried it with a 4x12 but people say it's amazing too.
Bottom line I guess is the MT sounds great through the proper cab in the proper venue. If you're micing your cab in a gig, a 1x12 is perfect as it is very portable and will do the job with ease.

Welcome bro. Happy to be of service. It's just amazing to hear the huge impact a guitar cabinet has on the tone and character of any amp. Even things like altering cabinet Q by changing between closed back, semi open back and fully open back is just plain mind-blowing.
For Micro Terror owners, I think it is nice to have both a 1x8 cab and a 1x12 cab so you can scale up or scale down your rig depending on the need.

Bro between the micro dark and HT5, which has "more" gain?
Just to add to the discussion & confusion, I have the dark terror & ht1 metal naman. I do find that the gain of the ht1 metal is very useable across the sweep of the knob. Whereas the dark terror gets very fizzy above 2 o'oclock. I actually could not get a bad sound out of the ht1 metal. Pero it still feels like a distortion pedal in the sense that its not a dynamic amp. Feels stiff. Yan ang lamang ng dark terror. Very touch expressive amp! Fizzy nga lang at extreme gain levels.

Ano cab gamit mo sir? I read from the forums that its got the best cleans out of the current roster of oranges. Sabi nga daw sa internetz.
Hey man. I'm using a PPC112. It sounds really good and can easily hang with a full band setup (w/ 2nd guitar player). In fact you'll be asked to turn down more often. :-D Yes, the clean channel sounds really good. It's not Fender spanky clean; it's warm and dark-sounding, which is how I want it. You'll probably want to test it out first if this is the main reason you wanna get it.
Just this weekend I plugged this into a PPC212OB and it sounded GLORIOUS. Not getting one though as it's friggin heavy (literally).

used to have a TH30. it was difficult to dial in the drive channel (that single tone knob) in a band/gig setting. I needed to put an EQ pedal in the effects loop to be able to have more control on the frequencies that wouldl enable me to cut through the mix.

This is exactly how I use my amp too; well actually same for all of my amps as well. :-D Minus the EQ in the loop, I agree; and depending on what genre you're playing, that it may have difficulty cutting through. But I've never had this problem on those instances I turned off my eq. On a recent gig (alternative covers) with another guitarist using a 212 cab vs my PPC112, he begged me to tone down.

actually, the TH30 I had, had no problem cutting through if dadaanin ko sa volume...it had plenty of volume. the problem is, i'll either cut out the bassist or the other guitarist. So it wasn't an issue on volume. It was an issue on being able to bump out certain frequencies para rinig ang lahat without cutting the other instruments' frequencies
that shape knob is so limiting

I traded my ZT Lunchbox Junior and Cry Baby Mini Wah to an Orange Micro Terror and Laney Cub Cab 2x12 with the intention of reselling the Micro Terror and buying a bigger head but the Micro Terror totally exceeded my expectations. Ganda pala neto! This head will stay with me for a while.
I'm glad that you liked it! having fun with the ZT lunchbox Jr here! although im not a frequent user of Crybaby Wah, still glad it fell to a more capable hands.

It's been more than a year that I don't have an amp and is planning to get a practice amp and my friend suggested getting an Orange Crush 20L.
I will be checking them at JB stalls and I just wanted to ask for reviews or suggestions too.
Thank you and Best Regards! :)
No experience on the 20, but I was able to use the 35rt. That amp can hang with bigger 50w solidstates. The cleans are not sparkly (i.e. Fender) but is quite how I like it (dark). It loves pedals. If your budget affords it, spring for the 35rt.

has anyone tried running your MT through headphones out to a mixer or interface for recording?
The Micro Terror headphone out sounds like s***. The Micro Dark however is 100% yummy! And yes, I have plugged them both into a mixer out to front of house.

Seems like I should have bought the MD over the MT...but I don't use the overdrive section much on my MT and my settings are Volume 12 o'clock, Tone 12 o'clock and Gain between 9-10 o'clock How clean can the MD be?

The cleans are great but you wont get much headroom. I played it through a Blackstar HT112 cab at an open air gig miced into front-of-house and it sounded awesome. Of course if you're gonna play outdoors you'll need to be miced up so you don't need headroom really. If you're gonna play small bar gigs you can just bring the head and plug the headphone out into front-of-house. No need for a cab. You can't do that with a Micro Terror. Well, you can but it's not gonna sound great. The MT needs to be dimed into a good 1x12.
FWIW I prefer the sound and feel of the MT vs the MD. The MT is more dynamic IMHO.

Thanks for the inputs sir. I don't play at any venue at the moment except my room/studio in a shared apartment so I haven't considered getting a cab yet. The MT is my first "tube-ish" amp as well and I like the idea of building my own speaker cab. I guess I should record a lot with my band and on my own to see if I'll be satisfied. Getting a fender/clone amp is still in my long term goals though

The Micro Terror is a great amp. I'll choose it over the Micro Dark anytime.

The Orange Micro Dark paired up with a Friedman BE-OD pedal is high gain heaven!

Try to plug the BE-OD into the effects return of the Micro Dark to bypass the Pre-amp and EQ sections. I used to do this with my drive pedals and I especially love it with my ReezaFRATzitz and Megalith. Limited kasi EQ ng Micro Dark as you may know. And funny thing kasi the EQ setting that I am looking for eh wala sa buong sweep ng EQ ng Micro Dark. Sad lang.
Sa front end naman any EQ would do kasi character parin ng preamp section ng Microdark ang maririning mo. I used to use a Cmatmods Butah and a Berzerker OD. Same sound walang nai-contribute sa character ang OD pedal nag add lang ng gain at compression haha.

Nasubukan ko siya with both options (Effects Loop vs. Front End Input). I seemed to prefer the Front End for this particular set-up. I was going for a boomy sound on the lower strings (something along the doom metal tone spectrum, like Windhand's guitar sound) coming from a '62 SG tuned to C.
Having a compressed pick attack click was not something I needed for the tone, so away it went--maybe if it was shred guitar on a superstrat, I'd then consider changing it over to the effects loop routing.
