eto pa naisip ko:

Martin Valihora with Hiromi

Chuck Treece with Tommy Guerrero -- lahat ng albums ni tommy guerrero highly recommended..

Paolo Lim of the local band "Sound" -- just can't get enough of their sound. If you also watch them live, lupit nyang si Paolo.. Astig.. he hhe... Ganda ng tunog. Tapos ung blue monsoon na album, hindi na naaalis sa regular playlist sa player ko.. Astig talaga.. Sana makakita pa ako nung una nilang album.. he hehe

I heard Pao isn't Sound's drummer anymore..

one underrated drummer for me is Ed Shaughnessy..big band drummer..who's played with Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Doc Severinsen's band...

how about Bill Stewart.  I think his famous, but imo, not famous enough..he has touch of his own..the way he produces good tone from his kit..

Will Kennedy who used to be with the Yellowjackets...tigas nga lang tignan..but like Bill has got good tone.  He grooves so well too.  He's not flashy, but he sure still plays pretty much in the pocket.

I forgot to mention..sa local scene..the drummer of Sun Valley Crew..

lagkit at sarap pakinggan.  he used to be a metal drummer a friend told me.  that's pretty hard to do!  sit down and just groove when you grew up listening and playing to 80s metal na mejo on the brink of playing over the top..especially when live.

yeah will kennedy i saw him last year at sofitel with lee ritenour, mismo! also last week matt wilson with john scofield another underrated guy, played great. naka pagtataka daming nanonood ng mga drum clinic, pero pag may drummer na magaling na pupunta with a band parang konti lang na nonood. i think its better to watch them playing in a musical situation, with a band. opinyon lang :-) yeah brian blade and bill stewart both great drummers, but are they underrated? they both have two modern drummer cover features i think. but yeah jazz drummers are not well known here.

Let's rename this thread "Underrated Drummers".  Oks lang, bro pmack?

I agree with the drummers you mentioned.  I also want to add Tim Alexander of Primus, which I believe is one of the world's most underrated drummers.  He has skills and artistry which can level with the likes of Neil Peart and Steve smith.  I consider him a major influence in my drumming.

There are also plenty of unbelievably great drummers in the Gospel scene.  Check out some of the drummers featured in http://www.gospelchops.com/ .

 8-)

Cant argue with you on that one. Tim Alexander is definately one of the best drummers. Very musical. Very dynamic.

Vinny Appice is one of the most underrated drummers in rock. Very solid drummer. Probably one of my favorite rock drummers aside from Nicko McBrain and Peart. I've seen Vinny play in a club and it's brutal. He was also great on the "Heaven and Hell" tour.

richard christy - death (sobrang adik ako sa sound of perseverance album. kala ko dati si gene hoglan yung drummer, pero nagtaka ako kung bat parang mas trip ko yung palo kesa sa ibang death albums. turns out iba nga.)

allen blickle - baroness (makalaglag brief. sobrang idol ko talaga to. kahit anong "trip" ko pasok talaga sila. aggressive o chillax o lasing o bogsa.)

sean kinney - alice in chains (my number 2 favorite)

mike bordin - faith no more (the person who changed my outlook on alternative music drumming.)

charlie benante - anthrax (best thrash drummer in my opinion.)

martin lopez - opeth (their former drummer. the reason why i want to be well-rounded. i really look up to this dude that's why i don't want to stop improving. my number 1 drummer.)

ayun. basically the dudes above are some of my favorite players. di talaga ako maka dave weckl, steve gadd, thomas lang, etc eh. among the "greats" konti lang talaga super trip ko. like ginger baker and jojo mayer.

locally I would say Loloy Biscaro of Indio I...he was also part of Coco Jam and Tropical Depression before, he sessions for The Jerks and many many other bands... grabe to si Loloy, any genre of music kaya nya paluan, alam nya yung basics and skeleton nang bawat genre...he might not be flashy, pero nabibigay nya yung tamang groove at yung dapat sa mga kanta.... :-)
