Ja! from our experience, we've been to many difficult times, even more than the happy times. but of course, nasa hilig yata yan. i have some tips though.

It has been a common perception that when we start a business, what we first think of is CAPITAL. But men, I learned that there is no real power in money, rather, in knowledge real power rests! How I wish I could start from zero again. Anyway, my point is to have the knowledge first of all the different equip.

After having the "correct" knowledge as to the things you want to buy, you have to draw a vision or a plan of your business. For example, you want a mobile disco but will later on will shift into live band...etc. another is if you want a Pro audio or medium quality lang. BTW, the Chinese brands are getting better and better, but you will always have "durability" issues. when it comes to gears, meron laging entry level, then mid level, then the best ones. Your plan will also set the "limit" of the budget. You have to have a limiter in your pocket men, maraming ng seaman na kinakalaban ng kanilang misis.  :-D draft the plan, list the gears, indicate the time table kung kelan mabili. then  ipakita sa mga reliable friends, and then sa different suppliers ang plan mo, and try to make a deal. Minsan, to make a direct import is reasonable.

thanks sa mga reply nyo lalo na kay sir luffy,i'm not starting though, been in the business(or hobby?) for 16 years.gusto ko lng malaman mga experiences nyo, bukod pa sa mga opinion sa technical issues.mahirap talaga sa una, madaming maling bili ng gears.swerte mga bagong nagsesetup ngayon ,madami na pagpipilian ng gears.
i guess "hilig" lang talaga kaya tumatagal,di din kasi ganon kalaki ang kita, yung experience lng talaga sa bawat set-up ang di mababayaran.
i miss the days of westrak amps, koito bulbs, plaka na tig 1,500(ultimix 50th),mga bootleg na plaka sa cindy's at soliman sa raon...

Pahabol lang to share my experience:

I'm from Meycauayan, Bulacan. Way back 90's, I own an outdated JBL 4520, Dual 15" J box made by MB, tapos 4 na MR Series, 2 Westrak Amp, ang liit ng setup dba? But that sounded loud enough, mahirap maka survive sa harap ng JBL 4520 despite it's 15" speakers only, gamit ko pa is Crown PA1550 lang.

My friends thought me how to setup proper signal/power output rating para hindi distorted and audio, maintain it clean hard and loud. Also a friend thought me how to modify lights, how to enhance and focus para pag party mode, mukhang elegant and lighting kahit outdated.

Swerte ng iba jan, they started with Crown audio, DBX, Numark, etc. full pack ika nga. Sa mga nagsisimula, try to ask veterans how to properly setup, tapos don't expect revenue, this is just hobby, unless you have someone to market ayun swerte ka talaga lagi ka may labas.

tas nilatag nya agad ang do's and don't base sa karanasan nya.

It started as a hobby nung 1988. Uso noon yung 89.1 DMZ mobile circuit. Every friday inaantay ko na ito and I very much enjoyed listening  to different mixes and scratches ng mga local amatuer dj's at naisip ko na sumubok rin baka kako matutunan ko. Just to join the bandwagon, i bought 2 turntables na "Electown" ang brand (nilalagyan ko pa ng 25 cents ung tone arm para bumigat at di tumalon pag nag-scratch) at isang audio mixer na "Better" ang brand. A couple of LP's from Odyssee and Soliman at yun.. mixing-scratching then dumiretso na. Using my old stuffs, i added speakers na malalaki para mukhang serious at professional. puros DIY lang noon. 25 years passed at andito pa rin ako sa business na ito and still enjoying every bit of it. Have already disposed ALL old equipment except the LP's (Ultimix, Wicked Mix, Funkymixx etc.) kse naisip ko na dito talaga nagsimula ang lahat and of course ito rin lang ang hindi nasisira if kept well :)

Piece of advice for those who want to succeed in this business..
1) Be courteous to your customers (this includes your crew syempre),
3) Be mindful of time (nakainis yung na-lalate)
4) Good gears (hindi naman ibig sabihin pag branded ay perfect or okay na.. there are a lot out there na mura, matibay, maayos and serves the purpose--ika nga "bang for the buck")
5) Logistics (eg. Bodega, delivery vehicle etc..  be realistic kse mahirap ata mag-business pag wala nito)
6) Presentation (Dapat mukhang bagong ligo naman mga crew at malinis mga gamit otherwise di na kayo kukunin hehehe)  7) Perseverance and Patience (Daming factors nakakubos nito like.. palpak na setup, makulit na client, nangongotong na mga traffic enforcers, problematic crew etc..)
8) Respect and trust your crew, staff (always think na mahirap ang trabaho nila at mahirap ma-move forward kung wala sila...)
9) Client (pag wala nito... eh uwian na hehee:) be it small or big client, you just have to give the same treatment.

Hope this helps!!!

so malamang ako ang nagsisimula talaga.here are the reasons why i am investing in a good soundsystem/band eqipment:

1.lagi ako may pa event.be it underground bands or yung mga pista pista.

2.mahal rumenta, minsan taga ang presyo

3.di reliable ang gamit. at tao.(lol)

eto na so far nabibili ko:

1. 2 dual speaker towers with tweeter.tnt yung 2 15 inches na tnt speakers.500 watts each plus 450watts tweeter.

2. mixer.got 2.isang presonus firestation na recording mixer at isang org 8 channel mixer.

3.mics,i got three.

4.mackie fr 1200 power amp.

5. guitars amps namely: 1. ibanez tbx120r dula 12 inches, laney lg65r, fender "raon" tube amp. still pending to buy back the raul quesado tube amp and another laney lg65r.

6. 2 bass amps:  1.ashdown 515 100 watts bass amp 2.raon made 300 watts bass amp

7.drumset: yamaha stage custom with sabian cymbals.

my goal:

1. to be able to hold gigs every month at bars and small gyms.

2.to stage a concert type event every month with soundsystem reinforcement for the loudness.

i have been tasked by a major beer company to hold these gigs/events monthly hence, i need 2 band set up para di na ako gumastos pa.i reckon the raon made equipment that i have could be used with monthly "gasgasan, kaskasn" type of underground gigs while the decent equipment goes with the more professional set up.

heres the question, say i would like to build up 2 band setup/sound equipment, what more equipment would i need?and can you please list the items here?tia! :-D
