Hi Guys!

Again, maraming salamat sa lahat ng dumalo at naki-jam. It was a night of tone and good old music. As to my previous post--this EB is one of the most attended since we strated in August!

Kudos to BAMF (jobet ) for organizing this monthly event!

Mabuhay ang Pilipinong musikero. From last night's jam, its good to know that a lot of the bands are trying their new material. (eg. Soul to seed, MAHASA and Ursa Minor) back at the time we cant even apprciate new material (puro top 40 lang)

Soul to seed-----Powerful songs you have. I dont really know or kung ako lang yon but I think the singer is a little off key. Nice guitar riff and the double  pedal on those songs rocked the floor--literally.

MAHASA---Blue Raven and Company rocked the house with ther version of the Deep Purple's smoke on the Water! I like the third one.."Its a beautiful life" and the Hednrix inspired "Halika ka na sa Dilim" . Iba yung dating ng kanta--may dark side to it. Despite their age, the group is musically matured. Although having two guitarists, one was doing the job of keyboard player--ang cute ng "keyboard" niyo.
What blew me away was Blue Raven's version of a Jimmy Page's "violin" inspired solo and the slide to go with that. Havent seen that around for a while. Biglang humaba yung leeg ko duon ah!!!! OK ba Delta slim??? This kid is going places!

URSA Minor--Heavy playing and steady rock grooves for the nirvana inspired band! Great drummer!

BLUESMENTRIT--A blues band that is very light and easy to hear. Aside from the lead guitar being manned by the forum's Jmorrero (Ang ganda ng ESP TELE niyo sir!!), the balance to the band's sound is made via acoustic guitar. The band's cover of Clapton's "Have you ever loved a woman" gives justice to the song--sans the electrified verison. (Sarap pakinggan--light listening) Patrick, the lead singer reminds of the lead singer from Blues Traveler (Nice hat bro!!!) :D  The song, "Aint No Sunshine ...(im sorry I didnt get the title) comes light and easy as well. Your Material--the Tagalog song--I really like that. You have a new fan  and Im Looking forward to your Album guys!!!

FIRE BOTTLE! Just when you think things will turn around--here comes Delta slim, Pyschic Sushi, Nathan, Valve, Toybits and (Keyboard player--sorry I didn't get your name) What Can I say---Up until now, the lead slide solo of "sleepwalker" is still sounding off in my head--iba talaga ang tunog na yan! Bro Joric, maraming salamat at di man ako nakapag gitara--napakanta naman ako sa "Key to the Highway"---promise--hindi na ako kakanta ulit (hahahaha!   ) Practice ako next time.!  This is the first time I had a chance to see the guys all togther! Man, ang sarap pakinggan! Pyschic Sushi(Anton) knows his chops--great sagutan ni Joric and Nathan!

J3--Jazzhombie, Psychic Sushi, Deacon Blues and Toybits--Ito lang sa akin(and I will quote BAMF)--AYOKO NANG MAG-GITARA!!!!! Hearing and seeing these guys play--woodshed forever na ako! As Joric would say about the playing of Psychic Sushi--"its all in his fingers"  --not to0 mention his EMG loaded telecaster! Galing mo Anton!!! Crush Kita!!! Be it blues, rock, gospel or Jazz--bro, ang tindi mo! My brodah, Jazhombie (Pareho kami ng Gitara--hihihi). Those jazz lines are impecable and always in the groove no matter how the song turns--ang galing mong mag=piano at mag-Saxophone (hahahaha!) Deacon Bues rocks! Ang Gwapo mo fafa!!!! Very vice and solid basslines sir!!! O ano--next Time, "Feels so Good ha?"  Toybits is still the man when it comes on the drums! an all around beat machine!

PINOYMUSIKA! HAIL TO THE CHIEF! Sir Jim, It is an honor to have you in the Jam and may I say, ANG LUFET NINYO SA DRUMS! With J3, playing Cantaloupe--swak na swak ang dating! You get my head swinging left and right with your beat. That drum solo left my mouth open open for the rest of the jam.

Sorry I had to leave early and based on the review with "Karen's other band" seems like the girls also have something to say when it comes to playing guitar!!!

For BAMF--OO na! Napaka galing mo sa Mod OK-   -seriously, marami ka nang  customers pagkatapos nito!!!!--Thanks for a fun filled Monday Night!

FloydNikita--maraming salamat sa pics!! Ayos yung Pusit niyo! sayang di lang ako nakatikim!!! Hihihi!

To everybody who came--Thanks again for a fun experience! Sa UULITIN!!!!

Some quick notes to add to Ronnie sa mga bands na inabutan ko:

- Bluemenstreet... cool, swabe... iba na talaga ang mga "mature" ;-)

- Ursa Minor...  no flash and histrionics, just pure music.  mapapafocus ka sa songs.  galing nga ng vocalist (ursagi222?) pero the drummer.... the drummer... what's her name nga raw  WOW!!!     *dapat sign up na siya dito sa philmusic *.  hope to see more of her, este Ursa Minor.  no kidding...  ganda, este galing talaga siya, este sila...

- Mahasa...  Hayup!  tamang classic rock/led zep talaga, not just the tones and arrangements but the whole attitude to it.  did you say blue raven is going places?  he is THERE man!   *blue raven - i shook your hand and congratulated you but i didn't get your real name. ano nga uli?*

Ronnie - loved your voice on Key to the Hiway, bro!  Let's do it again next time. May iba ka pang request?  Thanks for the kind comments re Sleepwalk. Did you or anybody notice we also snuck in "Amazing Grace" before "Key to the Highway"?  Roneil (the keyboardist) has some great chords under there. :-)

- J3... OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!
si jay (jazzhombie), gifted child!  aside from the talent, skills and technique, galing nya magadapt sa music and needs ng song.  if it calls for piano tones and piano style, BOOM, he's there!  trumpet or sax solo, BANG, yun na!
si anton (psychich_sushi) - well like i said, anton's a monster. IMHO, he's right up there w/ the very best.... he's a true fusion master --- combining jazz, blues, rock, country, pop, science fiction, gravure, j-porn, classic and world literature... lahat!!!  the artist as musician.
si deaconblues... i was hoping he'd play guitar but this guy always knows better. if i were clinton, i'd say, "It's the music, stupid."  and he proved it by laying down a tight but exciting groove
si bitoy... cool and tight, pogi pa  *hehe... luv your own!, di ba BB?*
si pinoymusika...  good to see you again after more than 10 years, jim!  and how good to see you play again. like i told someone, wala kang kupas!  i love your syncopations, risk-taking, improvs, whilst keeping the beat tight.

- Caren and her "other band"...  Uhmm... J what??  How quickly we boys forgot about J3 when Caren took to the stage w/ that red dress and red Ibanez.  Caren is like Mentos candy... sweet (looking) and tough (guitar playing) on the outside, but nice and soft on the inside (she's a nice girl!).  We hope to see more of Caren, perhaps w/ Massicridia next time.

And finally, BAMF...  kuddos and congratulations, THANKS!!!  More, more, more... and onward to PhilMusicStock... (How about PhilMusikalooza?... parang may hint ng handle ni Jim... hehe...)

and you got to have clinics about slides...damn those notes are still ringing in my ears the whole day!

Tam - Those hormones kicking in again, bro?  Hehe...

But we gotta ask sistah Caren for permission. I'm not posting it on youtube w/o her permission. Or I can send to her and she can do what she wants with it.

Caren - You may have noticed several DOM-type guys taking pics and vids of you.  Uhm, a friend of mine I was with that night, is one of them.       What do you want done w/ the videos - send to you or can we post on youtube para makita ka ng mga madlang tao?  The audio quality is poor; the video quality is ok, but the sight of a pretty girl in a red dress tapping/shredding on guitar is FAR OUT so never mind the audio!

Thanks for the reviews, guys..

Again, we'd like to commend Jobet for having come up with a more organized jam last Monday night.. He was the host par excellence last night, complete pa with interviews with the artists -- ala MTV.. hehe

Also, I'd have to say a few good things about Caren. She gets my vote for 'Ms. Congeniality.'

Even prior to their jam, she'd go around the room greeting familiar faces, and acknowledging the other forumites with a ready smile. Some girls would probably shudder at the thought of being one of the only females in the bar that night, but Caren carried herself well with the poise and confidence of a real artist.

And the guitar playing? Wow!

As the other guys said earlier, she must've made the audience forget all about the previous bands who played before her.

More reviews to follow..

Thanks Ronnie :)
"It's a beautiful life" is officially "Vita Bella"... la lang, kaartehan sa title (haha)
"Halika na sa Dilim" is actually "Neneng"... a "love" song (hehehe)

Mamaya sa Freedom Bar uli kami. La lang... plugging. :)
(EDIT: Canceled ang gig mamaya sa Freedom) :(

God Bless You Guys!

(How about PhilMusikalooza?... parang may hint ng handle ni Jim... hehe...)

wow, i'm blown away! muchas gracias mi amigo! and right back at ya, i will never, never touch a slide again. heck, i'm not looking for my glass anymore, nor do i aspire to play it, heheheh... unless i listen more to brett garsed's playing, but damn... YOU DA MAN!!!!
