yes, very nice, great content.  Please keep us posted on the electronics part and the gut layout.  So the saw you used is a coping saw right?

Thanks markcasq and free2rock! I'm also learning from you and other fellow DIYers.
You might want to check projectguitar.com- a great place for useful guitar work, mods etc.infos.

Regarding the saw-I'm not sure what it's called. The blade is very thin almost like a wire. And the frame is tall meaning it was suited for cutting inside or around a wider material.
I think this is used mainly for plexi glass and similar.

Coping saw blades are much thicker and wider. Also looks different from jeweler's saw.

learning a lot too.
inspired to do my own diy project. as i don't trust my elec. skills, i opted for something simple muna. a hardcase. just finished the frame. too dark to take pics, bukas na lang. anybody know where i can get a hold of that leather-like vinyl and those metal corner thingies?

anyways, if ever i mess it up, pwedeng ma convert na cabinet ito.

Siopao, lupet nyan!  It's always hard to find hard case of odd-shaped guitars, so why not make one?  And you did, nice.  I'd be following this, I am also curious where to get components for a hard case to fix the ones I currently have.  Kamusta naman ang weight nya so far?

@Siopao

May nakita akong ganyang gold latches sa ACE Hardware.. Medyo pricey nga lang.. But I think if malayo ka sa Raon, that may be your best bet.. I forgot the price nga lang nung isang piraso.. Not sure if it's 300 or 100 per piece..

Thanks guys. right now it weighs a little over 8lbs.

I used to bring my guitar to gigs with an acoustic gigbag, with the headstock exposed. nakakaasar.

I used those recycled wood fiber boards for the inside divisions.
yung pabigat lang would be the side frames- which i dont mind, better it be strong than have it give out later.
I used 1 inch styro for the molding of the guitar shape. easier to cut and sand then glued felt paper. I didnt glue it so that I can also put in my les paul if ever. (hmm or maybe I should also start a molding for the lp..)

Medyo may kalapitan naman ako sa raon, i might pass by this week. may alam kayong stores doon? so i can call em up before.

so far gastos ko dito is about 300 pesos. I got the wood for free- was in charge of a float parade recently, kaya maraming nakaimbak dito.

DIY Hardcase Update

Finished the exterior cover wrap.

I was looking for leatherette or vinyl. Then I thought, why not tarpaulin? I could even have it printed with a design..

para pag di ginagamit yung case, pwedeng display sa bahay.

The printed tarp. 2.5 ft x 5ft (lotsa allowance) 370 pesos for both

Applied glue on the case then made sure everything was stretched nice and tight- a staplegun is very useful here.

and here's what I have so far:

sorry madilim, I'll take a better picture for the next update.

Next up will be the interior padding of the lid:

glued a couple of styro boards together

covered with felt. Though I removed it soon after. Easily tears. my toggle switch punched a hole in it while test fitting.  will use same cloth material as the inside. made sure to taper the edges para di sumabit sa case interior.

Thanks. Im eyeing the long weekend at matatapos ko na ito. I have an idea for the corner protectors and thinking of adding rubber lining at the edges. got hinges already. papatagal lang siguro yung latches.

anyone here know which store in raon i can get the latches from?

Anyways, eto idol ko for diy spaces. inspires me to build my tool collection.

Walt Kowalski: "Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone."

EDIT:
Just got back from Raon. andun nga lahat ang kakailanganin. got 4 latches (60ea) and eight metal corner protectors(40ea).

I'd say an even 10. I'd use 3/4" boards next time for the frames. lesson learned. will do another soon. kaso nakita ako ng mga tao sa bahay, gawa daw muna ako cabinet. haha

I have a couple of DIY questions mga sir:

I have a year old Ibanez GRX40 and I'm kinda bored with the stock pickguard, I don't know what it's made of, so my first question is, can I repaint it? If yes, then how do I go around with it? Gusto ko po kasi sya irepaint from white to matte black with some blood stains or any bit of red. I have absolutely NO IDEA or EXPERIENCE on repainting.
Forever newbie :(

Parang possible naman, I thought mach chip off lang yung paint, pero looks pwede.

Let's wait for the paint experts baka may ma suggest sila.

Powder coat para hindi madaling matanggal yung paint. After painting your blood stains, top coat with some Polyurethane.

You can also buy some acryilic--the ones they use for signs. Lots of colors available.

Good luck!
