But, i still don't know what kind/brand should I buy...
Dalawang kit pa lang kasi nagagamit ko (Pearl Export, Gretsch Catallina Maple) so ang hirap mag decide on what since yun pa lang nagagamit ko, and wala pa ako idea sa ibang brands (baka kasi may mas maganda pa).

Sir, based sa post mo ang suggestion ko e be patient. Make a decision to part with your money only when you can say confidently that you have exerted a reasonable effort in studying the possibilities within your price range. Please try to explore what's available from other brands. Tama, Premiere, Taye, Ludwig, DrumCraft, Mapex, PDP, Yamaha are the more popular ones available here aside from the two you already tried. Audiophile carries Tama and Premiere while Lazer carries Taye and DrumCraft. JB naman sa Ludwig. Yamaha/Yupangco/Perfect Pitch for Yamaha, Lyric for PDP.

For me, ang magandang branches na puntahan dahil madami kang kits na makikita ay JB Music Audio Solutions sa Shopwise Shopping Center sa Cubao, Lazer Ali Mall, Audiophile Pioneer sa Mandaluyong, Ali Mall, and Robinsons Otis sa UN Ave Manila. SM Megamall naman for Yamaha/Yupangco Music Store, The Music Source naman for Mapex, sa Ali Mall may branch din sila. I guess sa Cubao pa lang madami ka nang mapag-aaralan...good luck!

Personal opinion ko, make an itinerary/schedule...for your price range I'll take a close look at Taye, Premier, Ludwig and Tama (since nakita mo na Pearl and Gretsch)

Where to buy?
« Reply #702 on: November 08, 2012, 03:04:18 AM »
Where is the best place to buy drum stuff, particularly cymbals?

I'm planning to buy a set of starter cymbals (B8's or ZHT's), and I've been to JB Music and Perfect Pitch (both in Megamall). Are there other stores that offer the said products but at a lower price?

and last san ba maganda mamili ng mga yan?

and thanks po

fernando drumset 13,500 (from sulit, free delivery and assembly/tono kasi noob din ako hehe) 11k sa raon kaso kaw pa mag assemble, may free narin itong sticks kaso sobra gaan
premier mufflers 400 (from sulit, kasabay ng drumset)
heavy duty cymbal stand 1,500(from sulit, kasabay ng drumset)
Premier 20" ride 1,600 (from raon, mahal sa taga sulit)

Current upgrades
Gibraltar Avenger 611DB

planed ugprades

Cymbals - Meinl, Stagg, Wuhan, Zildjian ZBT, Sabian B8.

Drumskin Batter all Remo- Snare (Ambassador/Emperor X), Toms (Pinstripe or Emperor Clear), Kick (Powerstroke).

yung reso kahit stock basta maganda pagka-tono.

IMO...  8-)

Hi Guys,

Di po ako drummer so please help me. I have researched the prices and the brands, the various heads and cymbals that is available here, I just want a drummer's opinion.

Plano ko kasi bumili ng entry level or mid-level drums so that my band can practice unlimited hours sa bahay. So of all the brands, heads and cymbals that is available ano ang magandang combination of shells, cymbals and heads na maganda for metal? any brand that you can recommend for this? for the drumkit itself i estimate that I can dish out 40-50k so at least may idea price range na tayo. :)

Any suggestions are welcome! ;))

Thanks po mga master!

If you're looking for some alternative, para lang magamit ng band niyo for jamming purposes, go for 2nd hand drums..

If you're looking for an entry level or mid level, madameng ng magandang entry level ngayon.. For jamming purposes lang ulet.. Minsan nga ginagamit pa sa mga bars.. Lazer, Pearl, Tama, Gretsch or go for Yamaha Gigmaker.. Pwede pang bahay, pwede pang outdoor.. Lahat naman halos eh.. Kung may drummer na nakatira sa bahay niyo, o kung gusto mo sir matuto mag drums at baka maging drummer ka pa sa susunod imbes na gitarista, bahista, o bokalista, go for the mid level na..

As for your queries, regarding shell combinations for a particular sound, sir, nasa tenga po ng drummer niyo yan.. Any drum shells will do..

Cymbals naman, kung pang basagan lang talaga pang jamming, go for Zildjian ZBT, Sabian B8, or Stagg SH series or DH series..

Good luck sir!

any reviews on this drum set?

i don't know if you call this a review, more of an observation based on the picture you posted...
assuming there is truth in advertising :-D :

pluses:
1. it is birch
2. 8 lugs on a 13" snare
3. same on a 14" floor tom (interesting size)
4. decent bass drum claw hooks, spurs and hoops (hoops appear to be wood)
5. suspension tom mounts
6. sturdy looking hardware (mataba ang tubes) and double braced
7. double chain bass pedal
8. free drum throne!

1-7 are basic components to make the kit look and sound decent imo...with proper tuning and decent heads i can imagine a nice kit.
except for #3 (it's an uncommon size for a floor tom), the kit is comparable to branded kits, maybe even a notch above an entry level kit

question marks:
1. Reputation of the brand in making durable drumkits, workmanship ika nga
2. value for money
3. I'm not sure but I notice that the connectors of the boom stand are black...are these plastic? big question mark here...

bottom line, no. 1 question mark will make or break the "One Big Hit" above...either jackpot hit o tinamaan ka ng lugi <_<

Need help/advice for my first kit
« Reply #718 on: June 19, 2013, 02:58:30 AM »
Good Day Fellow Drummers!

Pa help naman kung ano sa tingin niyo ang dapat kong kunin as my first kit.

First of all, naka tira ako sa semi-condo type na bulding, studio type, tight room space.

just my 2 cents! hehe

Either you get an electronic kit or spend to build a sound-isolated drum room.

Sir, given your limited options on space, sound/noise level, and budget, di nga pwede ang e-kit which is the best choice kung may budget ka... pwedeng ipon ko muna or if you're really decided to have a kit in your unit now, the next best thing is to use a practice pad set or a muted junior/jungle/portable kit dahil mas mura sila, i would not suggest a cheap e-kit based on not so favorable posts here sa forum...between the pads and a real kit, I would go for the portable kit since you have an option to bring it with you if you want to play your kit elsewhere such as a gig/jam session, which is not possible if you have practice pads...

The Pearl rhythm traveller kit sounds decent naman, narinig ko na with stock heads. But if you're worried with its tom/snare mounting system, you may also look at the Ludwig junior kit, narinig ko na rin matino din sya and is within the same price range as the rhythm traveller. But what I noticed is that the Ludwig kit is complete with all the hardware already, so lamang sya sa value for money over the Pearl kit, ang drawback lang nung Ludwig for me personally is mukha syang pambata compared to the Pearl na medyo pro ang dating.

But then...naisip ko bigla, if the kit plus mutes and cymbals will bring your final cost to around PhP 30K...pwede ka nang mag-hagilap ng 2nd hand e-kit, a 2nd hand e-kit of a decent brand may now go between PhP 35-40K... :-D

mismo....saka parang sugal kung pipilitin mo na mag acoustic kit but in the end e talagang 'di pwede because of the given circumstances. kung limited pa ang budget mo sa ngayon e konting tyaga muna sa pag-iipon tutal pangmatagalan naman once makuha mo ang e-drums na swak sa kalagayan mo
