I like 'em both for their studio recordings.

But live, mas type ko si Mark, his feel is good. Even on Maya's first album, napansin ko yun creativity ni Mark.

they're both excellent in their own right but personally i prefer vic to mark. vic's playing is more entertaining and flashy for me true jazz-rock fusion whilst mark's more simple and clean, very pop rock. its just me, i love seing a lot of flare in drumming. although i noticed that vic tends to keep it simple sometimes during gigs, im basing this on his hallelujah recorded take to his live versions of it.

i agree, im not sure about mr. escueta's playing in gigs but yes imho and based on rivermaya albums, his drumming is neat and simple. mr. mercado's bamboo, on the other hand, provides the listener with a lot of jazz-oriented fills embedded in a rock song but when i saw him once i think he was trying to keep it simple. i think the recording environment allows the artist to be bold and go all out and perfect his craft and delete/correct the mistakes, but in gigs, one has to be precise because you don't get second chances.

Mas maganda siguro kung i-compare niyo na lang si vic mercado kay wendell formerly of barbie's cradle...

Comment ko sa 2. Halos pareho skills nila kaso nga lang si master vic malinis talaga pumalo... complicated yet precise to the very microsecond... both excel though on live performances...

i agree mas ok sila i compare kse halos pareho sila ng groove.

yup! compare n lng cla vic and wendell pareho halos pareho cla ng style pareho sila malufeeeeet!!....c vic mailinis kahit live performances but wendell nman i saw him playing very fantastic ang galing ng mga palo nya pati crescendo at decrescendo mahusay...........!!!!

Both Vic Mercado and Mark Escueta are excellent drummers.

For me it's not enough to judge a drummer based on the kind of drumming that he/she does with his/her band. Vic can somehow stretch out further with his band's style of rock music. Meanwhile, in my viewpoint, I think Mark is required to play steady rhythms and maintain a great groove and feel for his band's brand of music.

I know Mark is also a technically sound drummer. And Vic can surely lay down a steady groove when needed. And I do agree that both drummers are very talented and creative. Their drumming and musicianship are credited for contributing to their respective bands' success. And I applaud them for that.

And yes... Lots of great young drummers are emerging in recent times... Wendell, Otep, Rickson... I hope you guys can check them out.
