sana palitan nalang po or balik sa 3 nalang then palit name.

rivermaya was a project band of chito ronio and lizza nakpil.
i dunno who came with the name but according sa copyright, the name "rivermaya" is owned by their former manager, lizza nakpil.

recently, the new rivermaya has stopped acknowledging lizza nakpil to represent them as their manager, accusing the former with "receiving unauthorized royalties" which apparently belongs to rivermaya* (as mark escueta claims)

Lizza nakpil denies the fact, stating "she is authorized, because she owns rivermaya"

i forgot the sources but i read these on a local news site. (parang reporter ang dating ah...) 

and to add to the dillemma, mark escueta has also filed a copyright for the name "rivermaya" under a different category.

the new songs of the group basically doesnt appeal to me.
IMHO its sounds crappy pa nga
but dont get me worng, mike elgar and mark escueta are both talented musicians in their respective fields.


but without the genius of rico blanco, (who is doing not so bad as a solo artist with the support of fellow-musicians/friends) rivermaya should just drop everything and start anew, if its really is just the music.

sana nalang eh ndi na sila kumuha ng bagong vox mas bagay nung bassist na kumanta hehe IMO. at least they are all part of the "rivermaya-rico blanco era".
pero sa nangyare ngayon sana iba na lang ang band name nila wala na dun yung essence ng pagiging maya. si rico may karapatan pa dahil part siya ng orig at he composed their songs sa maya.  im a fan of rivermaya ever since kumpleto ko lahat ng albums nila from the very start pero parang nawalan ako ng gana netong last parang ayaw ku na sila.

pag malaki ang offer na pera siguro payag na sila sa reunion. pero kung ang offer e barya lang kumpara sa kinita ng eheads sa mga reunion concerts nila malabo na pumayag sila sa reunion... 10 million each member pwede na siguro haha

rivermaya sucks when rico blanco took over as  vocalist hence the band should have disbanded when bamboo left.

i remember rico mentioned in one of his radio guesting, there was this texter who asked "yung eheads may reunion concert, how about rivermaya?" something like that...

rico answered...NO.

he explains...anjan ang bandang BAMBOO, at yung RIVERMAYA e anjan pa rin at tumutugtog. sabi nya, "Let's support the band."

when he said the word "NO" seryoso cya. no smirk, smile, watever.  as in. kase andun kame nun sa radio station. tapos you can see in his eyes na hindi cya nagdalawang isip sagutin yun.

pero sa bagay, hindi pa rin natin masasabi kung wala na talaga o walang plano magkaron ng get-together...i'm still hoping that one day yung "no" na yun eh mag-iiba.

i'm a big maya fan. isa sa musikang kinalakihan ko.

I never liked rivermaya during the bamboo era, I was more interested with maestro perf back then. I began to enjoy their music during the Rico Blanco era, most specially songs from the FREE album.

I guess, my reluctance in enjoying the band in it's 1st incarnation was the fact that, it was a band assembled by a famous movie director, not a band that was formed due to the members desire to get together as a band. I recall, purist of the rock scene back then was not in favor of the band. A music magazine (rock n rhythm) even gave the rivermaya debut album a very low rating when it was reviewed.

Currently, I am still not crazy of bamboo the singer, i don't even have any of bamboo's albums in my CD collection. Though he has good musicians to back him up. Their music is just not as fresh and groundbreaking to my listening taste, IMHO.

I still prefer ebe dancel or jugs jugueta's fresh approach to songwriting. And yes, Bamboo can sing well, but Ely was the better songwriter.

As for the latest incarnation of rivermaya, I have not yet heard of the songs yet, since I have stopped listening to radio for a long long time, and I don't go to myx or mtv for fresh music. But yes the remaining members from the blanco era, are good musicians in their own right.
