Title: Acoustic Drums vs. Electronic Drums
Post by: brandobandit on May 07, 2016, 08:34:44 PM

Any PROS and CONS please? Thank you!

Cheers

Electronic Drums
Pros:
-obviously di maingay
-can change sounds
-can "add" more sounds via VST plugins
-easy to record
-saves space

Cons:
-different feel from acoustic, especially cymbals
-depending on model, no rimshots/rim clicks/ride bell
-will need loud PA for live band practice
-parts and repairs are expensive
-depending on model, hi hat controller can be iffy
-depending on model, may not be able to use own pedal or no double peds

Acoustic Drums
Pros:
-real feel
-highly adjustable and customizable
-superior sound quality if you buy the right heads and cymbals and tune correctly

Cons:
-loud AF
-won't sound good if you don't know how to tune
-changing the sound can get expensive
-can be muted for practice but sound will not be as low as electronic
-takes much more space

just want to add up another good reason to buy E-drums,

1. portability (depends on the model)
2. easy to play along tracks
3. the features of COACH (if the edrums have it) I mean c'mon it can tell you accurately how bad or good your timing is.

Now if your issue is the dynamics and "play feel", I guess you just have to play acoustic drums if you have chances. I practice with E-drums (roland td4kp) and during our rehearsal and worship night I use acoustic. If I may share my experience, practicing rudiments with practice pad feels different with applying it to acoustic snare, toms, cymbals etc. But the thing is I gotta practice. So my point is, E-drums is a great practice source since you have issues with your neighbor when you play on you acoustic. Because in the end, practice with E-drums is a LOT better with no practice at all.

one of the main reasons kung bakit ako napabili ng eDrums.
