The Gig bag. hahah. I just got my mono Gig bag from Jeff and I thought I'd put up a quick review.
Jeff is a class A guy. Straight up and nice dude. Almost bent over backwards to make the deal happen so I have to give him props. The case is nice and classy. I like the insides. Definitely better than anything you can pickup in RJ or JB. Its definitely up there with the Gator Semi Hard cases.
Now heres the thing:
Can it do les pauls?
My answer NO.
I wouldnt use it for a les paul.. but its definitely the best in its class and will give a les paul guitar way more support than a standard gig bag (if you must absolutely use a gig bag for your les paul). If you are playing an angled headstock guitar, the only way to go is hard case or semi hard case. Gig bags are not really an option unless you are comfortable risking your headstock.
With that out of the way, this is the PERFECT bag for just about anything else. My suhr fits perfectly, same with my fenders and PRS guitars! Id definitely buy another one if i needed another one (which will most likely be never coz this thing looks like it will last a lifetime). Lastly, The PRS SE gig bag is a damn good Gig bag but the MONO is waaaay ahead of it in terms of quality and guitar protection. I cant recommend this enough for anyone that wants one.
If you love your guitar.. get MONO.
If you love your Les Paul Keep it in its hard case.

cool review.. really helpful.. though i thought you'd approve it for a Les Paul.. :-P
i have a PRS SE gigbag too, and i think that it is really one hell of a good gigbag.. if the MONO is way better that it, then i have to agree that it is one real gigbag monster.. :evil:

i have a mono gig bag as well, got if from jeff.. mabait yang si jeff and he is really easy to deal with..
now, for a short review of the gig bag:
i always have my LP in a hardcase and lug it around to church every practice.. while i have no problems with that, i still need to bring my pedals along and it's pretty hard to move with two heavy stuff on your hands while commuting.. i needed something light na pwede kong bitbitin sa likod..
while the mono case definitely can't provide the same protection as a hardcase, it offers a lot more protection than any other gig bags.. i feel comfortable putting my LP there, nakasuspend pa din naman yung headstock kahit angled sya.. it still feels a bit spacious inside though even with a lot of thick cushions around the guitar already..
eitherway, i am fine with the risk associated with carrying a gig bag since i think kaya naman niya i-withstand yung minor bumps.. but if i would be in a place with a lot commotion/bumping, i definitely would use a hard case.. until then, i think i'll be fine with the mono.. :-D
and i really like the cushion under the strap pin and the neckbrace design..
@jeff: btw, i still owe you the pics of the gigbag.. :-D will post it here soon..

haven't seen any mono straps locally but i've been eyeing them since hearing about the things a few months back. i am just concerned that while the pads are memory foam-ish, the poly coating might cause my basses to tilt which is why i've favored thick leather straps for a long time.

i'd appreciate a review on that. for me, i am mainly interested in its comfort level. my basses are quite heavy but the neck dive doesn't bother me as much as the weight of the bass wearing me down over 2 hour-3 hour sets.

just got the straps today, and i think it will adequately address your concerns. just found out that all the strap models have the same inner side (http://www.monocase.com/store/pc/catalog/gs1_pick_400px.jpg)
it's got some grip to it and the memory foam really holds its own when used with heavy basses. will try it this sunday on our church's hefty yamaha bass, but my initial evaluation on it (i'm using my ibanez soundgear) was that it really eases some weight. will deliver some to turi tomorrow, hopefully he'll do a better job on making a review since i'm not that good :-D

will do that this sunday, 'coz soundgears' light compared to traditional basses. sakto nga we recently got this ultra heavy vintage yamaha in our church, not really sure of the model (looks like this http://www.yamaha.com/guitars/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=62222&CTID=5067500 but neck thru and have logged almost twenty years). that bass weighs a ton.

that thing must sound sweet. reminds me of michael anthony's (ex-Van Halen) choice of bass.

i met with jefisipbata lunch time kanina and i bought the black sharkskin strap. i plan to use it for my 2 pointy guitars (see my sig). the V weight 9+ lbs, the ice-plorer hybrid weighs 10+ lbs or more pa ata. both guitars have their straps buttons placed dun sa may neck joint. sa mga may guitars na ganito ang placement ng strap buttons, alam nating lahat na may tendency to dive a bit forward yung guitar. and since heavy guitars sila pareho, with my old fender strap, lalo malaki yung tendency nito. after trying out the MONO strap, nabawasan yung dive forward. and the thicker width of the strap provided additional comfort sa left shoulder ko. so far so good!!
i'll post another review after our gig this fri. tignan ko kung may difference pag live playing na, yung malikot na ko kaka-headbang. nasanay na kasi ako mag-adapt na i-pilit mag-angle ng guitar para maiwasan yung pag-dive forward when i play leads. we'll see kung dadali ang buhay ko.
btw, the holes on the strap where the strap buttons go... sobrang tibay!!! anaknang, hirap na hirap akong ilagay yung dunlop straplock sa butas. umiinit na ulo ko kanina hindi ko mailagay ng maayos. well, positive thing siya sa totoo lang, kasi alam ko hindi bibigay yung butas ng guitar strap sa sobrang tigas at tibay hehehe! :lol:

Got all three straps yesterday. I will want at least 1 more. 1 for each guitar. $h!^ man! This thing rocks! Super comfortable! IT"S WIDER THAN PLANET WAVES BASS STRAPS! The padding is as thick as one strap can go. Strap holes - 2 ply leather. Really durable. The guitar pick pocket is a really cool feature. Even if I have a guitar pick holder on my pedal board, I don't have to worry about looking for an extra guitar pick.
I have three now. 1 for each: Jap strat, Fernandes sustainer, Aria Pro II LP. Might get 1 or Gibson Custom, an extra for the Caparison and probably a classical electric that Lyric will demo this Saturday at the event - http://talk.philmusic.com/board/index.php/topic,176312.0.html
Jeff, amazing product you have here. Will be getting at least 1 more. Bring an extra black one this Sat (non suede) for me. And bring all the stocks you have bro. Bring a bass guitar and I'll put one strap on my demo guitar for my booth.

dagdag review lang for the MONO strap. i used it for my 2 gigs last weekend. honestly, i didn't notice anything different while playing. hindi ko naramdamang gumaan yung feeling ng guitar, mas hindi masakit sa shoulder or whatever. tungkol sa tibay, a few years from now saka ko na lang makikita yung reliability or durability etc ng MONO. only time can tell sa mga ganyang bagay. :-) pero ang pinakanatuwa pa rin ako yung hidden pocket for the picks. napaka-convenient, tuwang tuwa talaga ko dun. :lol:

ah oo bro, uhm naiisip ko kasi pag nag twist yung strap tapos sakto yung edge ng metal tumama, so tsamba lang naman pag nangyari, pero ina- anticipate ko lang na pwede mangyari hehe
parehas tayo pinaka maiksi din sana yung pinaka ok s'kin hinabaan ko lang ng konti para medyo lumayo lang sa body yung metal pag nakasabit yung guitar :lol:
masarap nga hehe nakasuot s'kin ngayon kahit hindi pa nakaset gamit ko dito hehehe :-D :-D :-D :-D

uy bro buti sumakto naman yung taas, medyo mahaba pala talaga yung 47"-56" na length. next time isasama ko na yung mas maiksi nilang model.

nice, seryoso pala talaga yung sinasabi mo na walang tanggalan para ma test. ako naman bukas sa church, gagamitin ko yung strap, sana bumagay yung ultra suede sa black na longsleeves (kaya suede pinili ko eh, feeling ko hindi ganun ka rugged ang dating)

Jeff, I love my strap man. Its a bit bulky (for playing in the bedroom ahhaha) but its a damn nice strap.

Used one live recently, very nice. Much more comfy than my trusty leather strap. Didn't have a problem with my neck heavy basses. Thanks for the feedback on this product, mga tol. Might get another one soon.

nangyari kahapon, nasa lap ko yung guitar(rear side facing me), inaadjust ko yung strap ng hindi sinasadyang mabitiwan ko, yung metal hardware in between ng padded at yung may logo na mono tumama sa likod ng guitar ko hehe buti na lang mahina yung "boink" :lol:
ingat na lang :lol:
kung kukuha ulit ako, gusto ko naman try sharkskin :lol:

wala naman halos pinagkaiba sa planet wave kung sa weight distribution, mas masarap lang yung feel sa shoulder dahil padded :lol:

Malaki difference since I shifted to MONO. I was using a Fender monogram strap on a Fernando Les Paul. My guitar is REALLY heavy! Laging sumasakit balikat ko when I was using the monogram strap. But when I shifted to MONO, mejo strain sa shoulders ko. Probably because of the pads on the MONO.

the ones i have in stock can only go up to 45" (a bit long for those who strap their guitar quite high), although since madami naghahanap nung shorter version (40" - 46"), oorder na ko next week yun nga lang i'll limit it to the Sharkskin Black model.

Ian.. they can be pretty short man! Pretty comfy if youre gonna be playing for a while. But I wouldnt recommend them for an out door gig. It can get really hot. Its comparable to wearing a leather strap. If youre ok with that the strap is perfect. I just prefer nylon for outdoor gigs kase grabe yung pawis ko.
(But mono is waterproof so it wont destroy the strap).

i was able to test my ultra suede (smoke) in a live setting for the first time last Saturday. i used it on my strat.
some findings (all positive! no negative comments here! :lol:): - i literally didn't feel the weight of my strat on my shoulder. - the guitar was secure. i didn't feel the need for strap locks to reinforce the strap buttons. - i was all sweaty that night, but it didn't seep into the strap. the neoprene (thanks jeff!) didn't absorb the sweat and didn't make the strap smell funky or anything. it was like having a dry-fit shirt on.
overall...the experience was just EPIC. thanks again jeff! :-)

1st review-- I have my Monocase last May 21 delivered by jeff @ the office. And have it 1st gig that night. It was vey comfy and my guitar is very well safe. Nung nasagi ng ka-banda ko ung case na nasa loob pa ung gitara sabi ba naman "Ok lang yan MONO naman" :-D medyo bulky lang ung case pagmag-cocommute.
2nd review-- another thing i like about monocase paggamit ko ung motor ko at nadadaan ko siya sa mga rough roads nandun pa din ung support ng case sa gitara..ok pa din ung tension at ung height ng neck..konting tune lang ready to fight na ulit. :-)

I bought MONO from Jeff two weeks ago. Nalimutan ko anong model yung binili ko Jeff. And like you said, medyo mahirap nga maglagay ng strap lock.
I've used it last Wednesday for an all night jam with the boys. Gaan ng LP ko, its like playing my Strat using my old planetwaves strap. Problem lang medyo may pawis sa shoulders. Sana may dri fit na MONO strap :-D

i just got one tonight :) it isn't as bulky as i thought.. the padding is really good. the foam doesn't feel as soft as those typical foam upholstery. i like the fabric interior which keeps your guitar from getting scratched. accessories compartment's great. seems like an attention to detail was really put in this product. exterior looks tough against weather conditions (choxter proved this :) ).
the material of the straps are similar to that of the north face bags. matibay to. sobrang compact ang weaving. the guitar does not actually lie flat on the surface if the interior. it's slightly inclined due to the next support padding which is a little above 2" high..but i guess this gets lower in time. rest assured the guitar's safe inside.
i actually let the case with a guitar inside stand and pushed it softly so it'd fall to the floor. na curious kasi ako hehe..carpeted naman yung floor hehe..parang may solid lang (floor) na tumama sa padding..guitar's ok! then i tried to let it fall sideways hehehe..ok pa rin! so there, i think sulit. kung mga konting sagi sagi lang, ayus lang. pag na sagi to ng tao at bumagsak sa sahig, ayus lang (wag lang lagi) :)
i think the handle on the side should be placed a little more higher..para pag hawak mo, balanced na balanced ang weight. the shoulder straps could also use more padding as i felt a little strain pag nakasabit lang on one shoulder. mas walang strain if the pads are thicker. sg pa yung nilagay ko. magaan lang.

I can has MONO too! The M80 double gigbag/case, that is, thanks to Jeff.
This will be a short review for now cuz I haven't really put the gigbag through its paces in a real gig, just tested and inspected it at home w/ my guitars. But I sure wish I had it these past years when I had to run out of my car w/ a gigbag or case in Manila's rains (it's waterproof)!
I've never seen a sturdier gig bag (I'm aware of InCase's offerings also). It's like a softcase that offers protection of a hardcase. It's carry-ability and feel is definitely that of a softcase, not a clunky hardcase. No wonder cuz it's made of light but outdoor/military-grade materials.
When I put my past gigbags in the car, I make it a point to lay it on its side (if angled neck) on the back seat and hook the shoulder strap above the seat so that it doesn't slide and fall down. If it's a Tele/Strat, I don't mind laying it flat but still worry about all the bumps it goes thru in Manila's moon-like roads. But, man, not anymore! I wouldn't mind laying this flat on the seat or even in the rear/cargo/trunk of the vehicle.
For a "senior citizen" like me na operado pa, the weight distribution, intelligent strap design, generous padding, and light weight are godsends! I'm also a gadget freak so the numerous, smartly designed pockets are a boon also.
Still, nothing is perfect and here are two things they can improve on: 1. The upper pocket could be bigger so that you can stick an fx pedal or two in there along w/ slides, tuners, etc. But perhaps given the smart design of the cable holder, tucking it away from the bottom of the big front pocket, the pedals can be put in the big front pocket instead of the smaller top pocket. 2. The side handle should be moved up so that the guitar is not facing down when held normally on its side. As it is, you have to pull up the front of the handle a little to balance the guitar or tilt it up. This can create un-necessary strain on that part of the handle. But given its steel rivet, I don't think that handle will rip out in my lifetime.
Having said that, considering I almost always bring 2 gtrs to gigs, I'm now gonna have complete peace of mind w/ my guitar's protection. My only worry now is that somebody might wanna steal the Mono gigbag and "accidentally" take away my guitars in 'em!
Look forward to using my Mono double gigbag in coming gigs. Feel free to approach me if you wanna check it out. And I'm looking forward to trying out a Mono strap when a black one is avail in Oct!

Well, eto naman yun sa akin
First thing i notice is the size. its a little bigger than an acoustic case so thats pretty cool since im going to use it for transport. mas safe kesa i-check in mo with hardcase yun 2 guitar. atleast, in my airline. Next thing is the velvet-like fabric inside. I have never owned a gigbag with this topnotch material, mas maganda pa sya kesa sa sofa namin :lol: There is also an ample allowance inside which i like. i can bubble wrap the guitar then the case would be fit. As mentioned by TS, its not advised for Gibson Lps but for Epiphones with less headstock angle, its fine.
Some concerns. Since this is a Dual Gig bag its going to be really heavy and i hope the handle can withstand at least 10 kg of weight. The plastic hook could also be Stainless steel and the zipper instead of black powder coat. Still its just my preference. And sana yun divider pwede tanggalin para pang acoustic guitar naman. :wink: cant wait for my trip
BTW. Jeff's a really good guy. Nice meeting you bro.

UPDATE:
Was able to use my Mono double gigbag in several rehearsals and one gig na. I can now in complete confidence and peace of mind rest the case flat inside the trunk or backseat or let it lie back against an amp or wall at the gig. I can even stand it on its side or vertically w/o worry. Because of this, I can also easily pull out and/or return a guitar in seconds, which is critical because I change guitars in mid-set! My bandmates also complimented its quality.

yup, roj first did it when i sent a a bass case for him to review (you can watch it here,
). i didn't approve of the idea at first since i don't have the funds to cover the replacement in case his bass guitar got damaged, he proceded anyway, so the whole duration of his flight from manila to cebu, i was praying that it won't turn out like that united breaks guitars video :-D

Now that I have a 335 to go with my SG, my Mono double gig bag is now officially ready for any blues gig!

The 335 was a tight fit but the foams cuz the foam on the bottom and sides are so thick. Just needs a little push to close the zipper.

The PRS SE gig bag is a damn good Gig bag but the MONO is waaaay ahead of it in terms of quality and guitar protection.
Sir yung gray na SE Gigbag ba tinutukoy mo? Ehem tagal na ko naghahanap nun baka naman may nagbabalak na dyan magbenta nun at kumuha ng mono! Haha dito lang ako! Haha hirap ng hard case sa walang sasakyan na tulad ko tsk.

I have two straps for my two heavy weight guitars (obg les paul & a hamer monaco) Thinking of adding another strap for my mira (sana may discount ulit-wink wink)

sharing Premier Guitar's Gig Bag review for everyone's reference. the article reviewed Mono's dual gig bag (which i'm very nearly gassing for) and other gig bags as well. what i got from the article is that Mono really provides the best protection for the guitar. :)

Haha hindi... Pag 2 guitars plus the dual gig almost 30 na un diba.. Magaan lang pedalboard ko... Halos wala na nga eh hwekekek. Ung amp na lang ang mabigat- 55lbs :-D
Nice mono bags for the pedaltrain. The softcases of the PTs are lousy IMO and gets torn at the sides lalo na pag naging bulky because of the wah. Me likey too those that attach to the m80... :-o tsk tsk tsk this is bad...

I got a Mono strap, and its really nice... And that Mono pedaltrain bag look very nice too...
Btw, i choose the Fusion F1 over Mono, a lot of nice features... same protection but better storage, value and range of colors to choose from...

that's the "tick", kaso it attaches to M80 bags made in late 2011 - 2012. those bags that have a metal thing on the sides (i think your bass case has one, the guitar case don't). still waiting on how it will attach on older gigbags.

yup, daniel kushner, the founder/design director really solicits feedback and goes to gigs asking for the gigging musician's inputs. the initial plan was to have some sort of oem arrangement with pt but i think that didn't push through since they are releasing it as is. same goes for the keyboard case, they asked around first it keyboardists are interested in getting a mono.

question lang fellow MONO strap users, i got a problem with my shark skin strap. natatastas yung tahi sa mismong strap (yung tahi sa foam and skin). :-( and napansin ko di pantay pagkakatahi. ganun din ba yung mga MONO strap niyo? average of 2x a month ko lang nagagamit yung strap. around 9mos na yung strap sakin.

SUPER PANALO!!!! GAS!!!!! ang lupit ng design and features..and the top loading makes perfect sense!!! Id definitely get one pag nakuha ko na yung dream guitar ko..right now..hindi karapat dapat mga guitars ko for a Mono M80 Vertigo..hahahaha

di ko naisip yun ah, wala as is lang. pero pinalagyan ko ng "fragile" sticker yung bag. pagdating nga ng manila, may ontis gasgas.

hehehe..next time..pa-avail nalang ng plastic wrap service..or..some thin cardboard wrap+packing tape na pang protect lang sa outer nylon fabric..para fresh na fresh padin yung MONO..hahaha :)
kaya yoko din ng mamahaling maleta..kasi nakakhinayang , nabubutas or nagkapunit na lang bigla..hahaha..

lahat naman nagkakagasgas, i don't see the logic behind gasgas sa case, you buy it to protect the guitar anyway.
lagi ko gamit dual mono before, maybe 5-6 times back and forth china-manila, never had any issues except one time, pinilit ko isaksak yun es335 sa guitar case, kumasya naman kaso super sikip then punta bora. pagdating dun hinagis yun case from roof ng van to the floor, ayun broken neck. but its my fault dapat es335 case na kinuha ko. gusto bumili ulet kaso sold out naman, laging sold out si kane

Just bought a MONO Vertigo gig bag from Jeff yesterday. Being a MONO M80 gig bag user for the past three years, buying another MONO bag for my new guitar was a no-brainer for me. Here's my review (in bullet form):
- Really sturdy construction; well-knit and ergonomic. - Adequate space inside; fits any of my electric guitars except for my Flying V. - Good pocket space. I miss the original M80's Secret Pocket area, though. - Comfortable straps. - Good amount of padding inside. - Has perfect balance whether carried using two straps, one strap or via the riveted side handle - The Vertigo's top-loading feature is great, but I could somehow do this as well using the original M80. - The Boot is the Vertigo's best feature, in my opinion. Not only does it provide more cushion underneath, but it also has a cavity in the middle for strap buttons. The Boot can absorb more vertical shock from dropping the case and it also keeps the guitar stable while it's being transported - The Headlock is also a great feature of the Vertigo. It keeps the neck from moving around while the gig bag is zipped. No more strapping necessary. It's a marked improvement over the original M80's Neckbrace design.

Mga sir may nakatry na ba sa inyo gumamit ng mono vertigo for epiphone les pauls or any angled type necks? Kamusta naman? Kasi may mga nababasa ako na mas maganda daw sya pag straight necks lang e. Gusto ko sana bumili kaso puro les paul types guitar ko. TIA

I agree that MONO gig bags are excellent! Haven't owned one... yet.
I'm getting one by next month for my deluxe squire strat.
And like what they say... if you love your precious instrument so much, get a hard-shell case.

Hey guys, quick question. In the event na you have to check in a mono bag for a flight, which would be more likely to survive the m80 or the vertigo?
Anyone have actual experience of this?
Hirap kasi maghanap ng hardcase for a fender mustang e. Kung kaya naman ng mono, yun nalang. Have to fly with my guitar kasi.

although the mono case is well built, there's always a risk if you check it in as baggage. i've been flying with the 2-guitar case for a while till one time the neck of my les paul standard broke. it's still a very good case if the airlines will allow you to take it inside the cabin as a carry on. for checked-in luggage air travel, i'm back to using my rockcase triple guitar trolley. it's more sturdy. it's a hard case with wheels. it's also well within the price range of the mono dual guitar case.

Tested ko din domestic air travel esp Cebu Pac notorious minsan sa bad baggage handling, 4 times na ako pa back and forth 2 yrs na. And so far ok yung guitar with the Mono Vertigo. And hindi na ako nag lalagay padding sa loob na SOP ko sa old Levi guitar bag .
