i was a choir member elemntary days, listened to ska & pop punk at kids days, then i met extreme music agad. saka ko binalikan yung mga foundations at history ng metal, then i learned. had a powerviolence/hardcore band present, then i was recently listening to powerviolence, crust and sludge.

Ewan ko lang ah, pero yung mga mainstream at medyo mainstream ng US medyo di nag-aage gracefully, at least for some kinds of music starting from the 70s.

Parang bagoong, ganun..

yes probably, but  i still listen to songs that paved their way back in 2006 even bands from 1990s, never grew tired of it, Because music is timeless. You retain those sentimental songs that speak for yourselves when no one does.

yes. just as i expect my perceptions and understanding of this world to change, so i would with music. although right now, i am in a very weird place musically... i am not a fan of any kind of music genre. i see them as a collection of notes, and a story of some sort. there are also some genres i cannot stand or understand, but i can appreciate the concept behind it. although, there are some genres where i think is completely garbage - usually mga metal-based 'experimental' types.

i am, however, still a big fan of lyrics and good writing.

i think the only reason to stick to a genre is when you are making money out of it ... say you are a well-known metal vocalist, and you get a lot of fans and perhaps, some income out of it ... i guess, for the sake of your audience, you should "never get tired of metal."

realistically though, there are some things you outgrow. some people just can't do it, because they are tied to it via image, friends and society. either that, or they remain 21 years old forever.

Well, change happens

Here's my progression so far. . . . hehehehehe. . . . . .

6 to 7 years old: Michael Learns to Rock, Kenny G., Backstreet Boys, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Some Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins (madals ko mapanood smashing pumpkins noon sa MTV), some Blur, Oasis, Savage Garden, etc

8 to 12 years old: Limp Bizkit, Korn, Linkin Park, Incubus, and my crushes Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch.

12 to 16 years old: Slipknot (a lot of it), Deftones, Mudvayne, Snow Patrol, A Perfect Circle, Team Sleep, Rage Against The Machine.

18 to 20 years old: Deftones (a lot of it), Tool, A Perfect Circle, Massive Attack, Bjork,

20 years old to Present: Tons of Tool, Deftones, Meshuggah, Isis, Mogwai, Tarentel, Jakob, Failure, Smashing Pumpkins, Phantogram, The XX, Massive Attack, and madami pa. I keep on discovering new music from the past. Right in the feels kasi kpg nakakachamba ako ng luma na tlgang swabe. hehehehehe!

So ayun, nagbabago tlga eh.

Pero every once in a while, I still listen to some dancey or catchy songs.

LSS ako ngaun sa Paramore - Hate to see your heart break, Foster the People - Pumped up kicks and Schoolboy Q - Studio. isang linggo na silang babad sa playlist ko.
hehehe

You may be surprised, the Carpenters actually rocked. Karen is a good drummer. Search old videos on youtube, she sings with THAT same voice while doing some pretty creative drumming.

Kung sa tugtugan, oo. Pero, hindi naman gaanong malaki yung shift. Nasa isang style pa rin naman (rock) pero, ibang sub-style lang (ambient-rock/post-rock) coming from metal and prog-metal.

In terms ng pinapakinggan, kailangan diverse. Casual listeners have this option.

So, in terms of doing my music and what I listen to, the change is by means of changing what I do with my music.

Yes. I have noticed that my taste with music has gotten somehow diverse lately. My teenage years were all about pop punk, post-hardcore, metalcore and even thrash metal stuff. Now, my everyday playlist experiences more variety ... and almost no more of the genres aforementioned.
