I had this magazine during the late 90s/early 2000s I dont think the term "hipster" has  been coined yet. Anyway it had this cool section of comic strips about the indie scene back then and in that issue it had this story of 2 indie kids arguing which went like:

"what?! you composed a song and actually recorded a demo? ,  you totally lost your indie cred now!"
If you feel offended, post your grievances using a phone made by a 10 year old in China.

this was just like me until i grew my rig beyond my wood plank........replaced it with a bigger wooden board!

tingin ko this will fit the bill sa mga naka tele (aray), jaguars, jazzmasters with a huge pedal board peppered with unmarked pedals that only 3 are
working at any given time haha playing music with obssesively long titles and obscure titles, bordering on prog / gaze and other what-nots  :-D
I actually want to have a wooden stripped down rock pedalboard, tapos either ipapalilok ko yung design or ipapa burn/etch thing ko yung design. yun ang hipster. otherwise, hanap lang ng solid plank of wood tapos velcro at rubber feet, solb na

neon pink na Ibanez rg na modified with soapbar pickups (for the jangle/twang or whatever)
unlabeled ts808 and muff clones with personally customized "art" na "cool"
a boss dd20, line 6 dl4, ehx memory man deluxe, mxr carbon copy...basta lahat ng sikat na delay para tapos na ang usapan
phasers (same as above), tremolo (same as above)
a/b/y switch para pwede mag switch to a microkorg (ung first version with wooden side panels para mas "cool")
sound activated LEDs (for show)
diy pedalboard na may naka-dikit na toy action figures, mustache, ball jar...or whatever
bright colored coily cables
duct tape to secure straps sa strap button

any odd shaped 60s era guitar plugged directly to the mic input of an 80s boombox with its speaker cones torn to shreds and a nintendo ds 1 for the drums.

and the tshirt of course is important, the byrds, primal scream or any c86 bands.

You Know You’re a Hipster Worship Guitarist When…
Posted on 11 March, 2012 by Karl — 117 Comments ↓

And I can say these things because I am a worship guitarist, and a lot of these are true about me. That’s the rule; you’re allowed to make fun of things you are. And Nicolas Cage. So…you know you’re a hipster worship guitarist when…

when you no longer feel awkward before service at church because you can spend the downtime pretending to mess with your pedals.
when you own a Morgan amp.
when you own two Morgan amps.
when you run a Strymon Blue Sky stereo into your two Morgan’s.
when you plug a Duesenberg into your pedalboard. (Or a Tele.)
when you politely email Strymon about the shortcomings of the Timeline every time it delays a wrong note you hit, and then post about it on Gear Page. ‘Ya, I’ve already contacted Strymon about that, and Ethan says they’re working on it. Because, to be completely honest, a delay pedal that can’t intuitively sense when I hit a wrong note, is totally unusable live.’
when you still talk about John Mark McMillan as if no one has ever heard of him.
when you liked Mutemath before they were cool.
when you complain about the injustices of mass-produced overseas gear via twitter from your iPhone.
when every riff you play sounds like U2, but you still maintain that they’re overplayed and unoriginal.
when you hate U2, but dig The Edge’s innovative approach to the guitar.
when you know the names of every Hillsong guitarist.
when instead of saying, ‘The lead goes like this’, you say, ‘Well Nigel does this.’
when you are honestly able to convince yourself to pay rush shipping because you legitimately believe worship won’t happen without that fuzz pedal.
when you complain about the snobbishness of The Gear Page, on posts in Facebook guitar gear groups.
when you have a pedalboard as big as the sun.
when you’ve sold your Fulldrive for a Tim, your Tim for a King of Tone, your King of Tone for a Jetter Gain Stage, your Gain Stage for a Wampler Ecstasy, your Wampler for a Rockett Flex Drive, your Flex Drive for a Pearl, your Pearl for a JHS Double Barrel, and then end up using your stock TS9 most of the time.
when you battle for ‘Praise and Worship’ to be recognized as a legitimate message board musical genre.
when you consider yourself innovative for lowering the mix level on your dotted eighths.
when you wear wristbands and stripe socks, but still maintain that ‘you’re not hipster.’ Right. Because you were so wearing stripe socks in 2004.
when you Instagram 7 photos a day of your ‘updated pedalboard’, even though no one can tell the difference due to the vintage ’70′s lighting effect.
when you pontificate on pedals you’ve never played…or sometimes even heard of.
when you hate Rob Bell, love Francis Chan, and have a dust-covered copy of Blue Like Jazz you’ve never read.
when, if the power to the whole building went out, your rig could still run for two hours. (In fact, you rig was probably the reason for the power outage.)
when you miss prayer to pull your Pedal Power out form under your Pedaltrain to change the dipswitch and test out your Fulltone OCD on 9 vs. 12 volts in a live situation. (Oh yikes…I’ve so done that.)
when you have an ambient album. ;)
It’s really, really refreshing to laugh at yourself every once in a while. We’re such goobers. And I’ll gladly risk sounding cliche here because it’s just so incredibly true and really awesome: God’s grace is amazing.

Splendid.
Karl.

The most hipster guitar rig

A fender jaguar or tele with at least 1 sticker on it ("mean people suck", or "I support [insert cause of choice]"), excess string ends left uncut. Very frequent use of a capo.
Amp must be a worn looking fender combo with reverb set to at least 8. Bonus hipster points for tweed covering and/or wheat grillcloth. Usually uses 3 or 4 off brand pedals (no two are the same brand or shape). No pedalboard; all cables and pedals are carried in the smallest suitcase from Grandma's old luggage set from the 60s.
Definitely wears skinny jeans and high top black chucks or some other [grape]-looking equivalent. Wrinkled print long sleeve button down shirt with a t shirt of some band you've never heard of underneath. If it's a gig night, black vest over top and a pork pie hat.

maituturing kung typical hipster kung
-offset ang gitara
-payat na malaki ang tyan o pwet
-distortion at delay lang ang guitar effects
-may kulay yung ibang part ng buhok
-malakas mag yosi
-madaldal pagsilay nagsamasama
-downstroke lagi pagtipa sa gitara minsan isang chords lang
-nakasalamin na walng grado
-naka sumbrero na amoy nilupak na bulok
-nag a-adik-adikan look
dude, there is a difference between having fun and just being a troll.
weh di nga?

actually, there was a time when I...
had an accordion(got it from pier...smelled like pier)
3 vintage analog synths (wish I still had them)
I had a 60s/70s style "maleta" for a pedal container...used it for a night (hassle dalhin...pero "cool" hehe)
diy pedal board made of stuff from ace hardware (panel board+rubber feer+drawer handles)
a smaller diy pedal board (maliit na white board, kalikot audio psu na neon green ang ilaw for the WHOA)
I've always wanted a jaguar since the mid-90s but never owned one ( I now play an 80's Gibson V and a soldano inspired siochi \m/)
I had a shot-lived "electronic music" band and recorded some songs (still in my soundcloud)

anyway...I guess I was...and still is :p
