JACO.
he influenced most ( if not all ) of the best jazz bassist in the planet...
-
-
Abraham Laboriel and Marcus Miller.. Hehe
-
marcus miller. yeah! wee.. gotta try them all.. hehe.
-
Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen
para sa akin,
-
Marcus Miller panalo!.. pati si Jaco..
-
Kung traditional jazz, same thing with what edmund said. Hahaha. :-)
-
hmmmm...
i dunno kung anu bang jazz yung pinapakinggan ko eh... bago lang ako dito sa genre na to...
pero, yung pinapakinggan ko sa internet radio, jazz na may electric bass tapos may brass instruments.... i love the combination of those instruments...
i also love the bassists... imba... kakatuwa mga basslines nila....
ayun... kaya ako nahingi ng suggestions...
and yeah.. i kinda agree na medyo questionable nga si marcus miller... pero, he's awesome. hehe...

saken, wala kase akong alam dati about jazz until napanood ko sa myx (or mtv, can't remember) yung band na WDOUJ (or is it WDOUJI, kindly correct me, sir aya). tapos nung sinabi nung host yung meaning nung band name, may jazz sa dulo, so nasabi ko sa sarili ko ganito pala ang jazz (naririnig ko na pala sya before, hindi lang ako aware). so that band's bassist (Simon Tan, right?) would be the most influential for me, led me to players like jaco, top's rocco, abe sr (naririnig ko lang sya dati sa gospel albums), haslip and others.
-
WDOUJI.
Hugs. :-D

Jaco is the beginning and the end for me. :-)
-
Jaco Pastorius for me. Locally, it's Simon Tan.
-
Acoustic bass:
1. Charles Mingus
2. Ray Brown
3. Eddie Gomez
Electric Bass
1. Jaco Pastorius
2. Stanley Clarke
3. Abraham Laboriel, Sr.
Sorry, although I am a HUGE Tower of Power fan, I cannot include Rocco Prestia here. They are not exactly a jazz band. In the words of Emilio Castillo, they are simply a soul band.

Jaco Pastorius for me. Locally, it's Simon Tan.
Good taste. :-)
Sa mga local, sama mo na rin sina: Mang Roger Herrera, Meong Pacana, Norman "Troop" Ferrer, Bobby Taylo, Tata Balane at Rommel de la Cruz. Madami na silang mga naimpluwensiyahan.

Thank you, Sir. Good friends introduced their music to me, and quite frankly, they're the only people I know right now. So I guess my friends have good taste! :-D
