Taped drumsticks??
« on: September 18, 2013, 12:00:56 AM »

Ako personally di ako naglalagay whether cheap or mahal na sticks.  Nakagamit kasi ako dati ng naka-electrical tape.  Eh medyo pasmado pa kamay, medyo dumudulas, tsaka kapag nawala yung dikit at may umusli na tape, madikit/malagkit sa kamay, hassle pa kapag nagchichip off na yung tape.  Tsaka nawawala for me yung lutong ng rim click.

I taped my drumstick for getting a firmer grip and I only taped it where's my hand is holding it not all part of the drumstick. I use 3M Electrical Tape(check the expiration date).IMO

Maybe you hit the cymbals at a wrong angle, try mo rin adjust cymbals specially hats and crash/es...IMO 8-)

as for sticks na synthetic,it's not that close to real sticks and you need to adjust a bit, mabilis ako nakapag adjust sa ahead na sticks.hehe
and i found it annoying na may grip tape, hehe

for electrical tape nagiging sticky sya pag malupit ang pagkatape mo,lumuluwag sya
grip tape ng tennis ang maganda for me,pero technique din yan kahit pawisin kamay mo

Kung yung promo na Vic Firth sa JB, it's PHP 240 for 3 pairs. Caveat: hindi pare-pareho ang weights and straightness ng mga sticks (parang ukay yung benta nila, pick any 3 pairs) so take your time to compare each stick before buying.

Speaking of which, kung talagang pawisin ang kamay mo, consider mo yung dipped sticks.

:cute:

hmmm..I dont think electrical tape can help in sticks longevity, unless you wrap it so thick..which is impractical..haha...and isa pa, nakakadumi kaya yun sa hoops, at cymbals, at heads due to the sticky adhesive through time...

invest in better quality sticks, adjust cymbal angle and try to control yung pagpalo para tumagal sticks..

Astigin!!

I wrap mine sometimes depending on the needs :) If expensive yung sticks and nakakahinayang maputol, I'll usually tape it, pero not too much tape wherein magiging noticeable na yung bigat ng tape sa feel. Plus side to this is yung longevity, down side is yung sa sound nun pag nag rim shot ka IMO, and it affects feel a wee bit unless OC ka.
