Ano ba ang pros and cons ng Yamaha FD?

I've read somewhere online that the Yamaha Flying Dragon pedals have a design flaw...  The Flying Dragons can fold up into a flat unit for more convenient storage and carrying purposes.  But when one doesn't assemble it correctly, it could fold up during performance.  I hope Yamaha corrected or improved that design.  Any Yamaha gurus out there who can elaborate on this (correct me if I'm wrong)?

The beaters used are the common, traditional rounded felt beaters.  If Yamaha wants to go head-to-head with the big boys in the pedal department, they should come up with more impressive beaters.  Beaters from top-of-the-line pedals such as Pearl Eliminator, Tama Iron Cobra, and the Axis and Trick pedals are generally more modern, more practical, better-looking & better-sounding.

Beyond that, most online reviews that I read were satisfactory.  It's a simple pedal with an exceptional feel and does the job well enough.

In fairness, according to Yamaha, they manufacture their hardware at the same factory where they manufacture their motorcycles.  Well, that's what they say in their ads.

I guess the Flying Dragons are not so bad.  It's a simple but effective pedal.  I don't think they're at par with the more advanced Eliminators and Iron Cobras and DW 9000's.  If you're the type who is not so techy and finicky with pedals, I think this is a good choice.

Coming from a Tama Iron Cobra double pedal, the Yamaha Flying Dragon double pedal made me "3 TIMES FASTER"... Ive never been so happy w a double pedal till these babies came!

ok naman ang Yamaha FD eh, SLICK footboard! which i like

buuut...pearl pa din ako, personal reasons

ganon din ung case ko. galing ako sa tama ic.. tapos ngayon naka yamaha flying dragon na ako..

ok ung tama. solid.. parang hindi masisira... kaya lang, yung tuhod ko ang nasisira.. he hee.. medyo sobrang heavy yung feel nya para sa akin.. naghahanap ako ng smooth footboard.

ibang iba ang feel ng yamaha flying dragon na direct drive... sarap ng foot board tapos natutupi pa.. in my casual use, hindi ko naexperience ung nahihiwalay ung base dun sa beater assembly as stated nung iba... though syempre, hindi naman ako "heavy" player ng kicks eh...

nakita ko sa isang diagram, ang response ng direct drive is exponential as opposed dun sa mga chain na linear ang response. Exponential in the sense na konting tapak mo lang dun sa board, mas bumibilis ung beater habang lumalapit sa head. Yung mga chain, linear ang response in the sense na kung gaano mo kabilis tinapakan ang board, ganon din kabilis ung paggalaw nung beater papunta sa head..

at present, gustong gusto ko ung feel nitong flying dragon direct drive.. Though gusto ko ulit subukan naman yung chain & strap nitong yamaha flying dragon para lang macompare ko talaga ung difference kapag ang variable lang eh yung connection ng board dun sa beater. (chain vs strap vs direct drive). Kasi ang nagamit kong chain eh ung tama ic pati ung dw 5k and gusto ko ung board ng flying dragon.. he hehe..

Yup sobra bilis ng yamaha flying dragon of course AXIS and pinaka mabilis... sunod ito para sakin coz i have tested both.. sa  iron corba 5yrs ndi ko na gamay.. dahil ang bigat ng foot board tsaka ung action.. maganda sya sa slow metal like eg. lamb of god, shadows fall... pro kung tamang Brutal Death like what i play e.g. Nile, Origin Cryptopsy or similar sound ang tugtugan Ddrive na flying dragon the bhest!!!!  going back.. sa flying dragon it just took me a 2 weeks to speed up.. and over all mastering of the pedal only took me 4months... lalo na pag nakatrigger ako sa studio parang feeling ko ako si Pete Sandoval(morbid Angel) sa speed.. hehehehe

PS. the best dito apply na technique is ung swivel foot action pag mabilisan na double pedaling..
