A good quality dry paintbrush (the ones with really furry ends) for dusting.
Damp cloth then dry immediately with a clean, dry one.
Can't say much about chain maintenance coz the one I have is strap driven.
I don't really bother polishing though.

It depends on the situation. :-D

I used metal polish to clean up my demon drive,
I used pranella for everything and also feather duster.
For really dirty hardwares like stands with rust I use oxalic acid(pls back read hardware maintainance thread)
Some use coke also, and I found it a little sticky, hehe

Coke zero brad, walang sugar :)) Pag wala, Pepsi Light, mas masarap.
I don't use pranela anymore, lint everywhere!

Di nakakacancer yun, so far. Splenda ang most common brand.

What's a good way to get the rust off the nuts, bolts, and washers that attach the lugs to the drum? I just finished repainting my 12" tom but I don't want to reassemble it yet coz all the said parts are really rusty. Mukhang Mars  :| .

oh wow! great job!

and to preserve your hardwork (and your now-like-brand-new snare), try applying a sealant bro.
you can apply Microtex Nanosil (meron in sachets) sa Ace hardware.

it prolongs the "shine" by giving it a protective seal

Mga P250++ per can. Pang metal, glass, countertop, etc.
