Title: Alienware *merged*

One of the more intriguing technologies at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) being held this week is a 42-inch-long, curved monitor. Made by Alienware, the monitor is supposed to simulate peripheral vision. The sci-fi-like screen is aimed at gamers for a more immersive experience, although it might not be as suitable for design or text work.

The Alienware monitor consists of a curved DLP (digital light processing) rear-projection display and is lit by OLEDs. Its resolution, at 2880x900, is considered fairly modest for a display of this size. But its 0.2 millisecond response time is definitely geared toward the quick reaction time desired by gamers. The company claims that this refresh rate is over a magnitude better than the competition.

If 42 inches is still not big enough for you, Alienware notes that the display only takes one DVI input for its signal input. That means it's possible to put two of these monitors side-by-side for a dual monitor configuration.

Grabe! ang sarap siguro mag Microsoft Excel jan....kita mo na hanggang column ZZ

Prototype pa lang yan...at hindi ko na gustong malaman kung magkano yan! hahahahaah!

the good:

extreme PC-like performance in a unit you can take almost everywhere, even in the bathroom.

the bad:

with great power comes great pricetag. alienware has this reputation of selling ultra-priced units that even extraterrestrials couldnt afford. buying one has to be a well thought out move because 5-10 years from now, this unit will be rendered obsolete.

Much better if you'll build yours from scratch, plus Dell is a [gooey brown stuff] company.
You're paying for the name not the components.
Their laptops are good, but gaming laptops in general are bad.

I prefer to play on desktops. Pero I do wish I have a gaming laptop whenever I'm travelling out of town or abroad and bored. Pero kung gaming laptops nalang din, mas pipiliin ko yung Razer Blade.

just like the mac...the name makes it expensive though you can get the same specs by building your own at more than half the price

Unlike the Mac though that can do certain things/run certain programs a Windows PC can't (Logic, Final Cut, all the good artsy stuff), an AlienWare PC is no different from a scratch built PC with the same specs. Only a lot more expensive.

But why?

Is this like Epiphone:Gibson?

Nope. It's like buying a stock Kia Pride and a Kia Pride with a body kit, spoilers, xenon headlights, awesome rims, but the engine is left stock.

Plus Macs and newer Alienwares are made with crappy components such as a Foxconn motherboard.

alienware has taken a sharp decline in quality, too...if brand isn't important to you then you should have really gone the build-it-yourself route.
