Ride & Hats size
« on: April 20, 2011, 11:46:28 PM »
What Ride size would you prefer? 18'', 20'', 21'', or 22''? Why?

What Hats size would you prefer? 12'', 13'', 14''? Why?

Pinaka-common 20'' Ride at 14'' Hats di ba? Parang gusto kong mag-experiment, medyo nag-iinvest na ko sa mga high end cymbals ngayon..Hehe.. Gusto kong subukan yung 12'' Zildjian Special Recording Hats at 18'' K Custom Session Ride.. Ano po bang masasabi niyo dito?

Thanks!

Drummers, specially the beginners or intermediates use 14" hats and 20" ride because its the mid-range size. Ibig sabihin, hindi sya risky. Sometimes, its not the size, its the weight.

Masarap yung ride na may magandang cut ang bell, yun bang mabigat na ride like the Z's or Z3's, Ping's and K Custom Ride. Tapos ipartner mo sya sa hats na may magandang cut at chick definition like the 12 or 13 ichers. Vic mercado uses A Special Recording hats 12" and K Custom Ride 22", I think... Kaya maganda ang projection at cut ng hats and ride nia.

And depende yan sa genre or sa taste mo... For example You would not use a ride that is lacking on bell and a hats that is very washy if you were a gospel or rnb drummer right?

for rock drummers, preferable ang larger sizes. 21-24 rides, which can be crashed and 13-15 sized medium to heavy hats hats :)
beer and whiskey is very risky... :D:D:D

well all i know is I want to experiment with ronnie vannucci's set up drummer for the killers he uses 18in hi-hats a K constantinople crash on top and an A breakbeat ride for the bottom. then he uses a 22in K constantinople medium thin ride low, 24in K light ride and 20in K constantinople medium thin ride low as crashes, rides, and crash rides  :-D

Di ba sir food.vulture? Medyo intriguing po yung 12'' Hats? Hehe..Parang hindi normal eh..Kaya gusto ko talagang masubukan..Sana magustuhan talaga personally

May nabasa ako dito sa Pinoydrums o sa ibang online threads about music, may drummer din na mahilig sa mga odd sized cymbals.. Sikat siya eh, nalimutan ko lang.. Hehe..

Gusto ko rin sumubok ng odd sizes.. Like 15'' and 17'' Crash, 21'' Ride, at 13'' Hats.. :-)

OT: my two crashes are odd sizes 17" na A Custom Crash pati 15" B8 na Thin Crash (Pero medyo makapal pa siya hehehe).  :-D
