vista's ok naman.  only got 1 gig ram on my laptop.  pero pang microsoft office lang and internet stuff siya.   pretty much useless for anything else.  haha.

Vista's got lots of eyecandy plus it seems optimized for video, pretty much useless for audio apps where they can't good enough latency figures. Plus, it's got way too much DRM protection. Let's see when they release SP1 plus other hacks.

i remember our pc shop...panahon na ng mga XP nun...but our technician told us that it would be better to just stick to win98 dahil madami pa daw bugs ang XP...i was so eager to have XPs on our pcs pero pinipilit nya na wag kami mag upgrade...

That's why i'm still using Win98 hehe..

But I would go for WinXP SP2 instead of Vista.. For now..

The problem with old OS is you don't get support anymore. meron atang 3yrs support period ang MS for phased out software. So kung, win98 ka, 2001 yung last na year na nagoffer ng support ang MS. You don't get any updates from then on.

The biggest limitation you impose on yourself when sticking with Win98 at this point is time is, aside from incompatibility with newer software (as well as weak USB support), is the restrictive FAT32 system. Five or six years ago I was willing to stick with it (and I did). But now... I wouldn't even think about it.

Best step for me is to go with WinXP SP1 at the very least. I'm at SP2 now, though.

You need to be at least at SP2 to get the latest software updates. SP1 is already phased out.

One really neat feature is the search capability.

Sobrang lakas. Though RAM is cheap now a days.

for me ok pa rin ang XP, siguro dahil im used to using it than Vista. maganda lang siguro yung Vista pag sanay ka rin gumamit ng Mac OSX series. parang yung ibang features kasi ng Vista e ginaya sa Mac OSX series eh. opinyon lang.  :-D

Hindi naman. Madali lang naman gamitin. Siguro maninibago ka in the first few hours of using it. Vista still retained the basic Windows UI. FWIW, mas nahirapan ako nung gumamit ako ng Mac OS.

It's a claim that has not been proven. In any case, ok lang naman gumaya. It's fair game naman eh. Ang importante, may progress.  :-)

Speaking of Linux. Nagustuhan ko yung Ubuntu. Highly recommended for newbies. Got the hang of it in just a few minutes. Mas nadalian ako dito kesa Vista at Mac. Setup of wi-fi connection was easy and I was able to setup up my email (connecting to MS Exchange) a few minutes after booting it up the first time.

It took me 1 hour to give up on Mac and told the marketing girl, "Papalitan mo na yang laptop mo"  :-D
