Guys. maglalabas lang ako ng konting init ng ulo. So here goes the story.
My band was invited to play for a friend's production in a bar just recently. Before the gig, our manager asked the organizers if we could have an early slot (2nd/3rd band) as it was a weekday and we had tons to do the following day (work/school).
So we had our slot and we came just before the first band was starting. while we were waiting for our set, we sat around and hung out with members of this other band that was supposed to play last. Eh di tugtog na kami ng set namin. All the while nagisisigaw sila dun sa likod ng kung anuano while we were playing and after our set they came up and gave us praises and all the "pare galing nyo pep talk."
so then, pahinga muna kami saglit. btw we had to play onstage mga 1230 na halos. nagkaroon ng tech problems ng dalawang banda before us. so mga 1 am na un. and we really had to go. so paalam na kami sa organizers pati dun sa "band" na kausap namin.
a few days later,... check ako ng account banda sa friendster and what do you know. may comment ung isang member nila,... "pare astig talaga kayo. ang lupit ng trip nyo. halos mamaos na kami kakasigaw sa inyo tapos aalis na lang kayo bigla. halos maubos na boses ko kakasigaw kahit di ko naman masyado trip..." tapos isa pa ulit na comment. na salamat talaga sa panonood sa kanila. na mataas daw ego namin".....
alam ko di ko na dapat patulan eh,.. kaya hindi ko nalang pinansin. kaya eto kinukwento ko na lang sa inyo. para ingat ingat tayo. hahaha baka makasabay nyo rin kasi eh umuwi kayo agad. sayang hindi nyo mapapanood ung magaling na banda. mawawalan kaya ng kalahati ng buhay nyo,..wehehehehe :-D

HAHAHA we always do that; the "gig-and-go" routine.
but we make it a point to at least watch the band we befriended, even for a song. and if you're leaving, AT LEAST say goodbye to avoid the "rock-star e, pagkatugtog alis na agad" comments. pinch in some reasons about work and school, etc..

well, some bands probably can't play without an audience. fortunately for my band, we experienced playing for an exclusive and private bar (meaning, the only audience were ourselves and, well, a friend or two) so we're numb to the number of people watching.
and we always think that "every gig without an audience is a free rehearsal."

i couldn't care less if nobody's around to watch us. but, some bands do. :|

Don't you hate people falsely befriending / supporting your band for their own band's purpose?
Dami taong ganyan, musicians shouldn't force other musicians to support them. Dapat galing sa puso mo ang pagsuporta sa kanila, kung di nila matanggap, well, problema na nila yun. May delete comment naman sa friendster eh hehehehe....
Honestly, if we don't like the crowd, or even the other bands that we play with, we don't mingle at all. Mahirap na, baka gamitin pa kayo sa ibang paraan. Tsaka naka-seggregate kami sa mga grupo ng mga banda lalo na kapag wala kami kilala. Sabihin mo nang malaki ang ego and everything, we actually don't care. All we care about is doing our purpose in that gig, and that is to play. Kung ayaw mo, fine. Kung magustuhan mo, much better. Pero generally, kung ayaw mo sumabay sa jive namin, iwan ka na namin.
Dami ko na kasi na-encounter na klase ng banda dito sa amin. Makikipagkilala kunyari, tapos pag nakita ng kakilala nila, sabihin part sya ng band. Or tipong habang tumutugtog kayo, biglang sisigaw ng bad comments or worse tatawanan ka pa. Marami bastos sa mundo kaya if you're not careful with the people you're dealing with, and nagpapa-apekto ka sa mga negative criticisms ng iba, kawawa ka. N.C.'s should be taken as challenges in order to see what you need in your group to be improved.

At saka kung talagang "suporta" yung tawag nila dun, dapat hindi sila humihingi ng kapalit. 8-)

intindihin mo na lang sila... pero kung di mo na kaya bigyan mo lang sila ng isang daang porsyentong taguro. hehehehe...

pero me mga dahilan din kame kaya namin ginagawa yan, either [avocado] kame nung organizer nung nagpagig or palagi me mga sinisingit na mga bands. :x
pero in your case bro, hindi talaga tama yung ginawa nung band na yun. saka ano feeling nila, first time nyo palang nameet yung band na yun, gusto nila closed na agad kayo?! :mrgreen:

hehe yun nga eh. nag comment ulit sa page namin... ganun ulit. ewan ko ba. di na lang namin pinansin. may pa prod pa naman kami this month. isasama namin dapat ung banda nila kaso nasira sila dahil dun sa isang miyembro.
la lang. kakaiba talaga. sa tinagal na naming natugtog ngayon lang to nangyari.

Don't mind people like that. what you should do is find bands who are of the same leanings as yours - both as friends and as brothers in music. be open minded...
and next thing you know...
Well, that's who ToD started, when bands who could get along finally worked with each other. you know what the amazing thing about the ToD Siege tour was? everyone had a fun time. there were no big fights or competition among the bands, there was no headliner. that band that you had trouble with? forget them. let them find their own place in the sun. focus more on where your band is going, and who you're traveling with, than with people who think of other bands as tools.

yup you got that right. haha just wanted to rant about it the time i started the topic. We've already forgotten about it and moved on. on to the 2007 world battle of the bands(shameless plug) please vote for us,..hahaha "LUCILLE". thanks thanks.

I watched the Jerks play sa Mayric's around 2005, banda ko lang yung audience nila plus our friends. Damn... w/ or w/o people watching, nasa level 11 pa din ang performance. What a high bar they set that night :-)

I watched the Jerks play sa Mayric's around 2005, banda ko lang yung audience nila plus our friends. Damn... w/ or w/o people watching, nasa level 11 pa din ang performance. What a high bar they set that night :-)
we had a gig before, sa blueskrieg album tour. halos umaga na. we just had a couple of friends watching together with a few guys. we still gave it everything we had just like we do in each and every one of our gigs. Ang importante mapasaya naman namin ang kahit sinong nandoon kahit na ung guardia na lang ang matira.

Meron rin yung mga times na kahit marami kang tao, di naman nagre-react kaya useless din, i would prefer a couple of guys groovin' with my band rather than a whole room of people just looking at you and smirking.
But still, you have to give your audience the "whoosh" effect. That's what we call it. Imagine a strong gust of wind blowing through your audience when you are playing. That is your performance.

kami kapag nag-gigig sa bar, hindi kami, ako personally nanunuod ng nakasalang unless kilala ko talaga. then pagkatapos namin, ako umuuwi na pero yung ibang kabanda ko nag-stay pa.

ako naman nag sstay talaga ako to watch. minsan kahit mid or last part na kami ng sched, i come in early to see the other bands.
depende din naman, pag weekday gig, sometimes i come early but leave immediately after our set kung naghahabol ng sched sa work.
pag weekend gigs, surely maaga na 3am na uwi ko
