A good musician makes beautiful music no matter what gear he plays through. Only a poor carpenter blames his tools.

Very well said.

yes sir!
syempre kung ano meron ako ngayon, i make sure to make thebest out of it... but i also think of my gear as an investment... to invest on good gear (i must be really sure that i want a certain gear before getting it )  improve my gear, improve my playing and tone at the same time

i really appreciate your ideas sir aya, kahit may pagka kalog kayo minsan sa pagpost pero pag bitaw na ng seryoso tatandaan ko talaga hehe  :-D

yeah you can get good tones using any tools. But just like any tool it can only do what its designed to do.

sir i love your tone and the way you also handle your words... kaya isip talaga kung ano mas kailangan, kahit na medyo mahal or mura yung gear basta alam ko na makakatulong sa improvement

nice views guys but what about tom morelo's guitar solo on "bulls on parade"? isnt it very cool? I think no notes is associated with that one, only intuition. :)

for me creating solo is not about the playing lot of notes, it's about playing notes with emotions...

kaya melodic lang pero sarap pakinggan

yun parang may pinahuhugutan ung solo mo...

im always out of the book/box pag dating sa ganito at konting budbod nang scales and theories , because hindi naman ako masyadong mainam pag dating sa theories, still learning up to now. ika nga tone from your soul not from the book.. hehehe

sometimes it depends on the song/music. but for me, mostly more on experimentation. minsan habang sinasabayan mo ung rhythm makakapag-create ka ng solo base sa interpretation mo dun, base sa environment and sa emotion na gusto mong i-express. pero syempre kailangan mo din ng knowledge on scales, melody, tone and tempo.

he was actually certain that he was going for that DJ scratching thing, he actually studied DJ's and how they do their stuff. The kill switch is like the guitar version of the crossfader of DJ mixers.

Its an entirely different plane

When composing a guitar solo, I first map out the progression, then feel the song, listen to the melody, and understand the limitations.  Play through the song using the ideas - then forget all about them at times and play something fresh :P.

Gawa muna rhythm, tapos pag ok na., pili ako ng pinakabagay na scale para sa mga chords na un.., tas pili ng mode..,

tas i record mo ung rhythm background.,

tas sabayan mo ng solo gamit ung scale /mode na napili mo.., pag di mo type ung scale/mode., eh di pili ka uli basta pasok sa chords progression mo..,

plas wan

always outline the basic chord sound. a lot more sophisticated than just playing diatonically/modally.

by intuition and experimentation?

or

by scales/ by the book?

and why?

scales/book = building block
intuition and experimentation = my style

i experiment things using the scale as my base, then add my bends, legatos and staccatos, and add notes not in the scale...

mahirap ata tumugtog ng kahit ano nalang pindutin.. sobrang daming off notes!!
maganda eh yung you know what notes to use, and what are not... then dagdag mo nalang yung mga NOT TO USE (off notes) para magkaroon ng flavor ang tugtog... para bang pahagingan mo like sliding from off to the right note, or hammer on then pull off para magiba ang sound ng scale.. HIRAP IPALIWANAG! basta pag OFF note ang ginamit mo at sinustain mo  ay patay ampangit neto most of the time hehehe
I have stated that there are more bad sounding suhrs then there are good ones

For me cguro improvisation. Kung meron time, i would prefer to record different solos for the same song, minsan kasi meron mga parts sa solo na naproproduce na ok(ala chamba) without knowing it, then after recording those sessions, review each recorded solos, pick the ok parts then try to bring those parts together.  :-D
