Re: Which is better, a 500K pot or 250K pot for guitar?
« Reply #1426 on: March 12, 2009, 06:28:28 PM »
250k pots are warmer but not as loud.

500k pots are bright and louder.

I agree with the other poster - best to use 250k for single coils and 500k for humbuckers.  If you use the 500k pots on a strat or a tele, the bridge pickup is insanely bright - almost ear piercing. Using 250k pots takes some of the volume away but it removes the harshness.

Saan maganda ilagay yung BBE Sonic Stomp...

before the volume pedal right after all the effects or

after the volume pedal right after everything?

I'm using a Jim Dunlop High Gain Volume pedal at the end of my chain.

Pls. recommend me a good luthier to do a Fret Job for my Fender Jap Strat
« Reply #1430 on: March 15, 2009, 11:19:03 PM »
Where do you guys send your guitar for repairs?

I have a '93 Fender Jap Strat and its in dire need of a fret job.  Can anyone recommend a good luthier to fix my baby?

I missed playing this guitar of mine since its very special to me. It actually sounds better than my other US Fender Strat.  I just couldn't hand out this guitar to anyone and be disappointed for a crappy job.

I believe a fret job is one of the most expensive guitar repair.  I saw one advertised online for P 1,500 from a store in Sta.Mesa.  By reputation alone they are cheap lumanog guitar makers.  I know they could build a better guitar if the just use quality wood, parts, electronics and a trust rod.  But the price would go up and it wont sell well.

So it makes me wonder if they would just put in some cheap fret wire on it.  That wont last long since i used to play this guitar a lot and it already got nice fret marks on the maple neck. =)

Yes, they most probably would.

I have my bias, but there are so many people that can do a good refret job now. Just look around the forum.

kapag bridge position may hum, next position, wala. tapos kapag middle pup meron ulit.

wala akong alam when it comes to electronics. hehe

thanks!
