Eb and other tunings
« on: January 20, 2010, 12:23:03 AM »
Guys do you tune your guitar this way?
PAg ganito ba (Eb and others), all the way ganun na yung tunings niyo? Sa weezer yata puro Eb ang tunings. I
ba rin ang tunings ng sonic youth.

If you guys have alternate tunings do you still tune back your guitar to standard tunings when playing different songs that require such or not? how

and what tunings do you guys use?  :-)

I havent tried tuning my guitar down to Eb. and when i used to play different alternate tunings in one night, i usually use two guitars. And yes, if i am reqired to play a song in standard i tune it back to standard.

The fretboard is a vast universe.

Most of the time I tune my Les Paul to Drop C tuning.

Then my other guitar is tuned to Drop Bb. You guys should try this.

ever since Eb tuning na ako.

I have been using the Eb tuning for 4 years now. Nasanay na ako. I gig every night and this is the best tuning for me. Maraming songs na naka-Eb tuning talaga and sa mga songs na standard tuning, I'll just use a capo.

It depends what I usually play.

My 6 string guitars = Standard (E)
My 7 string guitars = Standard (B)

From what I've experienced I now know of 3 different tunings: Standard, Drop, Open

I know one guitarist who uses Open D tuning. Johnny Rzeznik of Goo Goo Dolls. :-D
Gusto ko tuloy ng isa pang gitara para sa Open tuning lang. :x

Does different tuning means magiiba din itsura ng chords mo? Itsura in a sense na kunwari yung typical A Maj na chord natin na xo222o eh magiiba ang pagkakatipa?

never tried to use other tuning kasi except for the standard E.

pag e flat lang. ibig sabihin i lolower mo yung pitch by a fret. hindi mag iiba ang positions,
just the pitch. bababa yung pitch. ibig sabihin mas bibigat yung tunog.

na maganda sa rock music..

pero yung drop d, drop c.

mag iiba na ang positions nang chords. pero not too much. mas dadali nga mag chords eh,

Tuning na ginagamit ko minsan for experimental sound E B E A C# F# and lots of modulation pedals :-D :-D :-D sometimes its fun to experiment your playing skills in guitar (creating weird but nice sound sometimes using atonal chromatic scales)..not just shred or creating sleek solos... :-D :-D :-D

i would love to learn in open tunings. keith richards is one of the more famous practitioners of open tunings. tapos ginagamitan nya ng capo. sa pinas, si cynthia alexander ata plays a lot of alternative tunings. wish i could play motorbycle note for note. anung tuning kaya ginamit nya dun?

Here's a weird but easy tuning. (what do you call this? "Hybrid"?) :-D

e
B
G
C
G
C

Drop C tuning sa lower strings and standard na sa higher. Try it. Baka matripan niyo. :-D

some (or most) of creed songs are in open d tunings. kaya buo ung tunog pagnagstrum kasi lahat ng strings nagagamit pag strum.

Away in silence (sa bagong album) tsaka watch over you (alter bridge), pwede mo nga pagdugtungin eh, konting baba lang sa alterbridge vocals.   :-D

I'll try this, looks pretty nice  :-)

I've tried E E B B B B, sounds pretty cool but I find it somehow limiting specially sa solos

Sepultura's songs are known to go as low as B Standard AFAIK while Slipknot tunes down to Drop A and Drop B. Andreas Kisser uses a fixed bridge, string through 1980's Jackson RR1T. Slipknot's Mick Thomson plays on an Ibanez MTM with a Fixed Edge while Jim Root plays with a Fender Telecaster. All those are fixed bridge guitars. Di naman nasisira.

Di nga nasisira kapag naka set ng ganun paanu nlang kung paiba-iba yung tugtug mo...from standard to drops balik sa standard....????
