pasingit lang po ng question. how high should studio monitors be in terms of mounting them?
dapat ba ear level ng sitting position in front of the pc? higher? lower? on that note, how far naman from my ears should they be?
i'm using 8" near fields.
thanks in advance.

There are basics for that. Using a metronome greatly helps you with songs that have different speeds and levels as well.

It depends, but normally, the speaker's high compression drivers or tweeters should be hitting your ears straight on at SITTING POSITION.  That should be around 1.2 to 1.4 METERS.  I normally put my monitor's tweeter about 6 inches higher than ear level so there tends to be a little roll off on the high frequencies which I compensate in my eq use in mixing.  It's your choice - whatever you are comfortable in.

The distance between the speakers and yourself should be an equilateral triangle.  If the seakers are 8 feet apart, the left speaker should be 8 feet away from your left ear and vice versa.

If using asio drivers, no. You can only access one device at a time with asio.

In theory, you can access both simultaneously using WDM but you will have to find a way to sync the 2 devices digitally, often by using their unused spdif i/o, if they have any.

Either this:

or M-audio NRV10.

Just inquire with JB (Philmusic and the moderators are not affiliated with them, btw).

Depends... some solo artists hire session artists and they go into a studio and record at the same time. other soloists use midi arrangements. bands can track simultaneously, or they can track individually as long as they have a guide track.

If you're a soloist, learn to play to a metronome. Believe me, this is where most beginners fail. If you know of anyone who will be recording a song, why not tag along and see the process in action. It's usually an eye opener for most.

input output din sya pero stereo, and nakaka basa sya ng word clock para sa mga digital gears.

ex1: wordclock (apodee big ben) generator spdif out to audio interface spdif in (m-audio fast track pro) to digital cd or dvd audio recorder (tascam, HHB) spdif in. Master ang big ben, than slave yung audio interface and cd or dvd audio recorder.

ex2: audio interface spdif out to digital pre-amp (ssl vhd pre) spdif input to balik ulit sa audio interface. Master clock yung audio interface, slave naman yung digital pre-amp.

ex3: digital pre-amp to audio interface. Master yung pre-amp, slave yung audio interface.

Bakit and para saan ito? sync of digital gear 16bit 44.1khz, 24bit 44.1khz, 24bit 48khz, up to 24bit 192khz resolution.

cd has 16bit 44.1khz
dvd audio has 24bit 48khz
not sure pa bluRay audio

Ito na! SPDIF is an digital audio in/out, Using Stereo LR, gamit din pang sync ng digital gears.

College of St. Benilde is offering a course in music production. They are Pro Tools equipped and certified I believe.
