Rudiments are a turn off lang because they sound so academic
Tama si lheyzero, basics lang siya. "Rudimentary", meaning "fundamental" or "basic". Singles are rudiments. Alternating singles (left-right-left right-etc...) is a basic thing na you can probably do already. You also probably already do "flams" with your hands and "doubles" with your feet.
Ang importance ng learning rudiments is that if you can do the rudiments well, your body can move na around the drumset. This means that pwede ka na ngayon mag-isip musically kasi hindi mo na iniisip kung paano gumalaw.
I agree with Mar Dizon when he said that there are only 3 basic rudiments:
1) Single = one stroke with one limb
2) Double = 2 strokes with one limb
3) Flam = one stroke that comes with a ghost stroke
And all other rudiments are just combinations of these 3. If you think about it this way, medyo hindi na siya intimidating. Pwede na sila i-practice between 2 hands, 2 feet, or between hand and foot
(naks parang expert... yuck)
