Title: THE BLOOMFIELDS (like 'em or hate 'em)

They sound either Beatlesque or Beach Boys-y, with an ample dosage of wit, nice vocal harmonies and boy-group stage presence. I bought the album; the originals are awesome. the covers are good too, but it comprise 80 percent of the tracks - well almost.

sa video pa nila finocus yung moog rogue na synth...nice try but wrong vintage bok...

I like them. As a hardcore old school guy, I think they are great. Although I have some observations: 1. They are not tight sounding - it must be because they are good showmen, the bassist and the drummer forgot to hold down the rhythm. Pag nagtatalon o nagtatakbo nabubutas na ang rhythm.
2. There choice of covers needs much to be desired. They can explore more '60s bands than what they have now.
But they are a good band still. Hands down.

Bloomfields seems to be a bunch of kids having fun. What's wrong with that?
Oo nga't medyo sobra nga 'ata ang pagka-showman nung iba sa kanila pero... uwenongayon? If that's what floats their boat, more power to them!
Kung sumikat sila sa di magandang layunin, hindi nila kasalanan ang kasikatan nila. Hindi naman nila pinipilit ang taong bayan tangkilikin ang produkto nila, eh.

kaklase ko sa dlsu yung vocalist nila, si jayjay lozano... industrial engineering original course nya. ngayon lumipat na sa liberal arts (cant remember kung anong course) hehehhe... ang sikip ng pantalon nya! nyehehhehe... nakakasabay din namin sila ni rocky dati sa mrt... sa ugali, hhmmm... meron din kaming kinaiinisan sa kanila pero no one's perfect naman. well, i think they're good pero yung nga, more originals sana and konting dagdag para mas original sounding. parang beatles-beach boys nga dating nila since yun naman main influence nila.

nakasabay na namen sila minsan... they're good.. ambabata pa. kayA lang sumobra ata sa pagsosolo si rocky (ata) (drummer).. every song meron syang 15-30min na drumsolo.. kakasawa lang..
but all in all the band is good! :lol:

i've only heard their first single (i found the video on youtube) and i think it's quite catchy. i like the upbeat/poppy/jangly guitars, its something different for the masses to digest. i was getting sick of the all the punk/emo/goth/numetal sounds, to be honest.

with regards to that twee pop thing a few replies back, some of the members are part of a twee pop/shoegazer band called weedisneys. bloomfileds are good but i still prefer them as weedisneys.

I like em'! isa sila sa mga banda na may pinakamagaling na blendings! They make great music kaso lng they make very few compositions. mahirap nrin gumawa ng old school music ngaun eh.

para sa kin, ok sila.. the first time i saw them i thought they were a bunch of losers holding a guitar like a poser crap.. but after i heard them play.. i was amazed! kinain ko talaga sinabi ko, ang lupet! clean sounds lang tapos blending ng boses! shet! ang galing! kakabilib.. feeling ko kahit wala silang gamiting instrumento, acapella lang.. makakakuha pa rin sila ng malupit na palakpakan.. :-D

They started indie back in 2002-2003, last time i can remeber. Did an event at white rock subic bay with mokeyspank and a subic or clark based band. I think they wqere called ink. the bassis, Lui is the sister of my ex-gf which became their manager. At first they were doing songs from mid 90's acts. When they did the whoel beatles, thing, galmore and all, was surprised coz theire influences were pretty far off.
Saw them with leech and ej-basses last year at metrowalk and all i can say is "what a show!" nag solo ung drummer(errr,um) and he even used the throne to hit the snare at one point. Lumipad ung throne sa harap ng stage. Buti walang natamaan. hehe.
On gear? I guess they're sponsored. - Rickenbacker, Gretsch, Moog Synth(imagine that)
All in all, they're pretty ok. They're having clean fun.More power to them.

i love the bloomfields! haha.. i first saw then in this one gig in serenda's high street sa fort. they were promoting their album. when i saw them, nagustuhan ko na sila agad. naaliw ako sa stage prescence nila. at tsaka lahat sila kumakanta. :lol: pero nung nag solo si rocky, di ko natripan. pero lahat sila magagaling talaga. sa sound pati sa pagkilos sa stage, approve ako. :-D

sana sa next album nila masmadami yung mga compositions. 4 out of 17 tracks lang sa album nila yung orig. tama, mahirap na gumawa ng mga kantang ganun. but siguro madadalian na sila. kumpleto na sila. meron nang matching uniforms, nice blending, pati rickenbacker guitars. san ka makakakita ng mga ganun na banda ngayon sa pinas? :-)

maybe ure reffering to the band 'the members'.. ok din sila..
sa bloomfields naman, the first time i heard them was from my older brother.. the first single is catchy but not that great.. its good though.. nakakatuwa.. tapos ung second single nila, ung cover, nakakatuwa.. kinakanta ko pag aalis ako ng bahay hehe.. theyre okay kasi i love the beatles.. :-D

Hmm.. they played for our school's orientation seminar last year and hmm.. honestly i'm impressed. They sounded so clean and tight. There were other professional bands who played there (that time the bloomfields have yet to reach mainstream) and and they kinda played better than the other professional bands (in terms of stage performance and tightness of delivery) if we are talking about audience impact, that's another story since that time the "bloomfields" name is hardly known.

masmaganda nga ginagawa ng the bloomfields eh. kung mag revive sila, ang ganda parin ng tunog. problema kasi ngayon, andaming revivals, kaunti lang yung magaganda. :|

their music is okay for the first 6 songs. kaya lang, ndi kasi nag-iiba ung music eh...so people who watch them (yung hindi mag die-hard fans) tend to get a little bored because it's basically the same beat all through out their sets. :-)
but let's give it to them. it's not easy to play (and appreciate) those kinds of songs when you're young. :-D and they DRESS THE PART TOO... :-D
also, they have killer equipment. check the brands on their headstocks. :-)

their music is okay for the first 6 songs. kaya lang, ndi kasi nag-iiba ung music eh...so people who watch them (yung hindi mag die-hard fans) tend to get a little bored because it's basically the same beat all through out their sets. :-)
but let's give it to them. it's not easy to play (and appreciate) those kinds of songs when you're young. :-D and they DRESS THE PART TOO... :-D
also, they have killer equipment. check the brands on their headstocks. :-)
As a listener di ko na pinapansin kung anu yung "Equipment". Yung pinaka-output na lang yung inaabangan ko. Peace.

actually buti na lang they're dressed in suits kaso they really look gaya-gaya nga. i like them better as performers than as artists/musicians. but they really should milk it while they can, individually kasi di sila bebenta. as a group, they're strong now.

back in 2004 nakasabay ko sila with a band i sessioned for (Splitcide).... sabi ko ...sino ba tong geek luking kid na to? (turns out to be pepe's lil bro)

Did anyone of us see that presentation at the new SM Taytay held at its The Event Center by the B's?
To me, it is the best performance of the B's in a mall setting, largely because George has done a neat and clean ordering of what song should follow another.
And to think that it was held in the morning, it was really fantastic. This time, it connected to the mall audience - from Class A to E, I would say.
Anyone who would have wanted to see that, we can post the video for everyone, if I may.

the way you quote and reply (learn the technique first old timer) is just as annoying as your controversial post in the Pinoy Rock section. Please read the title of the thread, my opinion is just as valid as the opinion of the next guy (as far as the topic is concerned). novelty songs and acts REALLY DO reflect the backwards mentality of the country, IMHO. be it novelty songs or double meaning sex songs or remakes that oldies love, my point is that we won't move forward kung puro ganito nalang ang nabibigyan ng chance marinig ng mga tao. and when you're given a chance to be heard, i believe you have the duty to say something of worth. (and something of worth, in the context of this country, and in my opinion only, is something new, unique and with a message para naman hindi tayo ma-trap sa endless cycle of fads and remakes)
kung dapat wala tayong pakielam sa ginagawa nila, anong ginagawa mo sa thread na 'to? support or criticism is "pakielam" hindi ba? the thread title says like 'em or hate 'em. "ha?"

ako i appreciate naman their effort to bring the 60's music back. tsaka way back 2003 nakasabay ko sila with my former band, jayjay's preference of music ganun na. actually natuwa nga ako ..who wouldve thought of entering "LA BAMBA" as a piece to compete with in a battle of the bands?

I am not surprised. I saw them let loose on wild abandon in a gig for a radio station. It was in Sta Lucia East Grand Mall. Ok lang sapian ka sa kalagitnaan ng tugtog pero sana hindi naninira ng gamit di ba?

Here's my take on these guys. I'm an original New Wave guy from the 80's, both foreign & local of course, but I'm also an Alternative rock guy 90's to some of the present stuffs. The Beatles, The Beach Boys & the 60's..I also love this era so much, even if I was not born then. The Bloomfields, yeah, some may actually feel like they're copycats or what, but that's the point of their existence, ako na-gets ko kagad. This is the first time in many years that you're actually seeing a band playing, dressing and even moving like an almost authentic 60's band. And one thing that actually sets them apart from the BISTRO RJ BANDS ???? They're Y-O-U-N-G (just like how bands look like in the 60's playing 60's music) . San ka makakakita nowadays ng bandang ganito ?? So when you watch them live, parang "BACK TO THE FUTURE", you're just plain back in the 60's, kaya naman natuwa at appreciated ko sila.
Talent wise, di din masama, they play decent Beatles music, and EXCELLENT Beach Boys stuffs, putik! Iyong JAY-JAY na Vocalist nila, kaboses na kaboses ni MIKE LOVE of the Beach Boys, High Pitched with nice beach boys harmonies. This is the first time I've heard someone really sounding like MIKE LOVE. Alam naman natin kung gaano ka-distinct ng boses ni Mr. Love. But Jay Jay captured that. Authentic Beach Boys sounding talaga. You won't see that with RJ BANDS. Kaya BLOOMFIELDS for me ? Somehow you made me realize my dream of experiencing a part of the 60's. Dun pa lang Salamat.
Although lately I heard they've just changed some members. I have'nt heard them lately, so I'm actually speaking about the original Bloomfields line up here.

pero hands down, ang galing netong bandang to, malinis at trip ko yung tugtugan nila, bihira sa mga banda na ganyang age ang nakakaappreciate ng ganung music..
plus napanood ko sila sa panagbenga sa baguio, tapos lumapet ako sa kanila, very nice guys!(yung original line-up to ha)

I've seen them last year in The Pete Best Show at Aliw Theater. Magaling, okay naman, mababait. nakasabayan ko nga ang guitar player after the show nagpa authograph kami ng Viola bass ko at Ric at sya sa Epiphone nya ata.
If we can play with them in one show, that would be nice :wink:
