get a branded one, like selmer, yamaha or armstrong even if pre-owned. mas sigurado ka sa intonation ng mga ito.

I got a Conn-Selmer Prelude for my 11 year old daughter for a starter. She is doing good on it.

I have a beat-up armstrong flute which i pretty much abused during my college days, but i will not trade its ian anderson sound for anything else.
