kayo, ano masasabi ninyo?
-

Emphasis are mine. Pwede mo bang expound yung pure Filipino? Paano naging pure Filipino yung dating Pop music?

Sabihin na nating old-timer & metal-head ako pero for me, I like pop music (pinoy or foreign) of the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. I even have some of them in my iPod Touch. :-)

Sorry, I misunderstood. For me kasi dati e mas sound Filipino-ish ang mga pop music. So kaya nasabi ko na 'pure Filipino'.

first up, i'd like to think that our personal points of view and preferences vary through time because of many factors...it could be the influence of radio stations, influence of our peers, influence of bandmates, trend settings and dynamics, our country being the melting pot, etcetera etcetera...
nagiba yung pananaw natin sa maganda at hinde pero may mga times na pag tinigtnan mo halos parehas lang naman yung sinasabi nila, it's just based on how you perceive the context...
say beiber, "parang" aaron carter sya sakin in some ways...of course some will disagree about that...one reason is the "hyped disgust" brought about by media and environment...pero bakit nga ba?...syempre mas kyut kasi si aaron carter...
regarding the wholesomeness of videos, i'm trying to watch those vids of steps, venga boys, backstreet...yup there's the wholesomeness, but still there's this hint of subtleties into it...be it sexual and greed and the likes...but yep in some way "mas mild" yung dati...
and regarding the "Filipinoism" :-D of the pop songs, ang gets ko dun e mas madaming orginal na OPM po na pinapatugtog noon...yes, mostly original...not covers, not acoustic pop covers...nacocover lang dati yung mga ibang kanta pag laos na or ginagamit sa movies or patay na yung original artist...ngayon hindi pa patay yung artist at sobrang sikat pa sa radyo yung kanta may limang (acoustic) covers na...tapos may tribute na... :-D Kaya kahit anong mangyari, kung pinoy pop, idol ko parin mga kanta nina Roselle Nava, Gary (V, G, L, ect), Tootsie Guevarra, April Boys, April Boy Regino, NeoColours, J brothers, Rockstar, yung iba pang nauna sakanila syempre...syempre mas idol yung mga gumawa ng kanta nila., as we know generally pop songs are not written by the interpreter themselves...hindi sila sumikat kung hindi natin sila pinasikat...wag mong sabihing kadiri yung mga kanta nila kung may alam kang isang linya ng kanta nila...

Both! :-)

ok noon... kahit pa jerimiah, april boy, sharon cuneta, jose maria chan...pa yang mga yan, nagsusulat at neg e-effort talaga sila gumawa sariling kanta... ngayon, nag eeffort naman pero madalas revival na lang, halos wala pang binabago...

NOON.
-
melody-wise, sooooobrang monotonous ang pop music nowadays! gone are the days of well-arranged music and autotune-free talent :(
-
In most cases, people prefer popular music from their adolescence and early adulthood. But each decade has produced both classics and trash. So I'm not obsessed with any one decade.

I agree. Mabuti naman may pagbabago. Kung wala, life would be boring.

Hmmmmm ... this sounds like the disdain 90s gen-x kids had for 80s synthpop and drum machines. I also heard similar disdain from 70s rockers about 90s bands.

Parang walang distinctive Pinoy pop ngayon. Which is sad, I think.
-
There is no new music. Only different variations of forms that have been done before. I'd beg to differ with music being "wholesome" before. I tend to think it was a lot more sincere back then. That's a better word for it.
That and pop music used to be more adventurous. BRIAN WILSON. End/of.

Pop Music Noon - puro original at almost every month may bagong music and album ang mga artist natin. Ma-padisco man o lovesong o rock o rap pa.
Pop Music Ngayon - wala yatang bago... :-( puro Pop Music Noon... :-D
-
Bat walang 60s sa choices? :?
I'm a 90s kid but I prefer pop music made in the 60s. With that said though, I don't have a problem with pop music nowadays. I love Fiona Apple's and Kimbra's latest records.
Sunshine pop arrangements are really really good. +1

HINDI AKO MASYADO FAMILIAR SA POP MUSIC TODAY...BECAUSE I'M STUCK ON MUSIC FROM YESTERYEARS..60'S, 70'S, 80'S...AND IF I AM GOING TO REBORN TODAY..... I WILL STILL DIG MUSIC FROM YESTERYEARS...
-
-
Nothing & I mean NOTHING can beat 80's pop music, but the videos were cheesy as hell.
-
80's - 90's pop music for sure.
