Ito na ba yung mga nakalagay sa mga RG655 Prestige ng Ibanez ngayon?  Made in China na yung Trem arm hindi all Japan?

This is what I bring out on gigs:

I learnt that to make guitars sound nice aside from getting great guitar gear is to get great sounding drums and bass gear.  So, the Q drums, paiste cymbals, bergantino bass cabs, aguilar and tc electronic bass amps are also mine.

This was a gig at Conspiracy.

When is your next gig? We want to watch :)

hindi sir, all MIJ pa rin yung edge trem sa rg655, may nakuha lang kasi ako na rg550 na walang kasamang trem arm, kaya triny ko kumuha nung mga pop-in trem arm na nakita ko sa ads sa lazada.

My 2016 R9.  Not that new but now with Bareknuckles.  Best sounding R9 ever.

P.S. Selected by Yas Iwanade... heh heh

I now have bought two historic Les Pauls both picked and set up by Yas. AND they are the best of the best.  The guy really knows what good sound is!!!  And this is one reason to buy from Crescendo -- to have Yas Iwanade choose a Gibson Historic for you.

Maybe Better?  Bwa hah hah.  If I say it beats my Gil Yaron, will everybody else here accept that my R9 is better than theirs?  trick question noh. LOL

What's the relationship of Yas Iwanade with Crescendo?

That's one hot sounding bridge pickup you have there! Should fit well with your high gainers and the Bill Kelliher head!
I'm curious, though... if it beats your GY which has PAFs (right?).. it beats it on what aspect? Isn't it a bit apples to oranges to compare since one is geared towards the more vintage sound while the other is a touch more modern?

Here is the Gil Yaron now with real PAFs.

Let me just say the Gil Yaron and this R9 are the best Les Pauls I have played PLUS MIks other Gil Yaron. (Take note that I have tested and played 3 real bursts and they are not even close to these guitars)  The R8 I believe will be close after I change the pickups.  For the 'old' Les Paul sound definitely the Gil Yaron and for the newer aggressive Les Paul sound its the the R9.

So, WTF?  Is there such a distinction?  Yes.  The Gil Yaron's fret placement follows the Rule of 18 which Gibson used in the 50s.  The newer Les Pauls from  I think the 60s to this day follow the now accepted fret placement as used by everybody else.  Thus the Gil Yaron with 1959 PAFs will do the 'old' sound in a new guitar bit while the R9 will do the modern stuff with distortion.  I don't understand why Gibson could not invest on the tooling for the Rule of 18 for their Historics today.  On the other hand, it might just complicate their production process but who knows now that the old guys are gone.

What's the relationship of Yas Iwanade with Crescendo?

Yas Iwanade is I believe the Regional Head for Asia for Gibson Sales.  He now takes care of replenishing stocks for Crescendo in the absence of a local product manager.  Surprisingly, last year, I learnt that he started selecting and setting up some of the guitars he sends over.
I teased him about this around 2-3 years ago when he first came here.  Now I also doubted Yas as someone who could possibly have different standards than I.  Its only after I bought the R8 after the R9 (in a span of less than a year)  that I can say Yas KNOWS how but will not admit to us that he chooses among his stocks.

I remember asking him which of the bursts in his book combined the ELUSIVE beauty and tone in one guitar.  He said:  The one on the cover of the book.  He told me that it sounded like an acoustic guitar -- unplugged.

He got to test my Gil Yaron and I asked him for an opinion.  He laughed and said that he is a Gibson employee and is prohibited from making comments on other guitars.  He however did say that the Gil Yaron tried very hard to make a burst -- whatever that means. LOL.

So, my suggestion is... rather than buying in the USA or Japan; sell your Historics NOW and buy from YAS or rather the correct word is ask him to choose.  It saves you the head ache (risk of getting a bummer which is a 99% chance)  plus you get a warranty and possibly a setup by Yas Iwanade.  But the downside is that I think even YAS cannot guarantee the exact look you want.
