help naman po mga kuya! im converting a 16" Floor tom 8 lugs to bass drum.. balak ko pong palitang ang mga lugs niya.. where can i buy matitinong lugs? and also the rims? and paging kuya JP! magkano jan sa PERFECT PITCH Cubao ali mall ang pair of paa ng Bass Drum? is it Gibraltar or Pearl product? and pano po gumawa ng riser na pagkakabitan ng pedal? thanks po sa mga mag aadvice!

You're in luck! The easiest way to convert your Floor Tom to a Bass Drum is by using a pearl FT - BD conversion kit.

JP has one in stock. eksakto yun para sa 16inch FT...

here are the things that you would need to convert your floor tom into a bass drum:

PEARL JG-16 JUNGLE SET ADAPTER

ISS or optimount:

Outcome:

when you buy the JG16 adapter, you should also buy either a Pearl ISS (for 16 inch toms) or Pearl Optimount (varies in depth so measure the depth of your floor tom, not the diameter!). Either ISS or optimount will work with the JG16. Optimounts are just the new mounting system of pearl. If you're more adventurous you can buy tom mounting brackets and install them on one side of your tom to accommodate the jungle adapter.

Alternatively, if you are in a budget, you can go to Lazer because they also have an alternative to the pearl accessories mentioned above for this project. Not more than 1k pesos if im not mistaken.

If you want the bling of all trades, DW offers 9909 Bass Drum/Percussion Lifter as an alternative:

And the nice thing about this Jungle Kit conversion kit is, you don't need to drill holes on your existing floor tom. You'll still be left with the option to use your drum either as a floor tom or as an improvised bass drum, depending on your needs.

If you want your converted floor tom to look like a real bass drum, what you can do is order a pair of bass drum wood hoops and purchase some bass drum tension rod claw hooks. I've seen some photos of mini-kits where in the floor tom's standard metal hoops were replaced with bass drum-style wood hoops, and it looks great. Just an idea.

btw legnacilz the brand i'm handling is pearl...and my stay at perfect pitch alimall is only temporary, i took over their since the guys there are mostly newbies...i'm now back here in our pearl dept...hope to hear from you soon

It's for those who want to improvise a mini-drumkit; for portability purposes, like in acoustic-style gigs; or for those who do not want to bring a huge kick drum on gigs (due to logistical reasons, such as having no roadie to help you carry and set-up your gear)...

A 16" or 18" floor tom is also the same size or proportion as a bass drum of a jazz-sized drumkit. So, the floor tom is perfect for such set-up conversions or improvisations.

Yup! You also get a good amount of depth and low-end sound out of floor toms. That's why it's easy to convert them into bass drums.

well thanks po sa mga reply! all i have to do now is to propose this to our band leader at sana aprubahan niya..

ensemble kami kuya jun! dapat nga standard size ang tambol eh.. pero transportation reason kaya gusto maliliit na sizes lng.. balak ko nga na 18" FT-->BD tapos FT ko na is 14" then 12" Tom... para fit sila sa 18"FT-->BD na ggawen ko.. kung pwede pang isama sa loob yung snare na 14, why not? hehehehe..

un na lang talaga iniisip ko, kung saan mainam bumili ng lugs na reliable!!!

im currently into that project, actually mamaya nga pupunta na akong JB Mega to purchase bass drum spurs (kasi gusto nung band leader namin na paa talaga ng BD at ayaw yung nakalakip sa JG-16) and purchase 16" pinstripe bass (meron ba nito?) and then rush to perfect pitch to buy the JG-16..

okie! ikaw bahala! it's your drums! hehehe.. pero come to think of it pare, in return, portability.. and reduced hassle in maintenance.. kasi you would'nt be using conventional BD Hoops and lots of BD claws that makes a BD complicated anymore.. hehehe.. pag BD na ang FT mo, you will be using rims.. less complicated.. hehehe attach the head, the rim, then the tension rods.. hehehe.. juz my two cents..

Pinstripe 16" na lang bilhin mo just incase kung Remo ka man.. tas lagyan mo na lang BD Patch.. sorry for the wrong info about suggesting you to buy pinstripe 16" bass.. im so sorry.. my bad.. buti na lang at naisangguni ko sa Salongga..
