Filter effect
« on: May 31, 2008, 08:37:22 AM »
I got my camera (d40) a couple of years ago and and since day 1 i have this cheap filter on (P150) for protection from scratches, and whenever i shoot before something inside tells me na hindi Sharp(bitin), then recently when i wanted to try Prodigi's (kudos to this very kind, helpful man) Destoy it youself macro kit. i used this filter (worth destroying ).. so then wala na akong filter and i noticed mas sharper na mga shots ko....

what is really the purpose of filter?
does filter really affect the quality / sharpness of your picture?

thanks

hmm... skylight filter or UV yan no? may effect din yan sa light na pumapasok sa lens mo. really good UV filters transmit 95% of the light, taking out UV rays. lahat ng lens ko may MIJ Hoya UV filter.

diffuser

Yes, it affects the sharpness. Nasaksihan mo naman na nung nawala yung filter mo naging mas sharp yung kuha mo diba? :-D Get Hoya or B+W filters.
Have a great day! Happy shooting:wink:

I used cokin filter set here (ND8 / Gradual Tobacco). Filters defines the mood of your pictures.

its a good thing, i only bought a uv filter coz i was supposed to buy a set

Peeves24 if im not mistaken ang kit lens ng 18-55 na D40 is 58mm. Yun sakin kasi naka lagay sa harap nung lens dun sa may rim ng lens you will see it.

UV filters should give your photos better contrast, kaya I only use Hoya filters. See..

UV filter comparison. nothing against generic filters. again, mas ok ang may filter to protect the lens than no protection at all.

I found this generic filter in my bag. I bought a lens in manila with this filter to protect it.

this shot was taken with the generic filter. it was the best shot out of five. pansin ko na medyo hindi nga nagfofocus ng maayos yun camera ko.

taken with a hoya UV filter. one shot lang at mas sharp siya kesa sa nasa itaas.

ano difference ng dalawa? glare. see...

check nyo yung reflection ng light bulb on the generic filter

this is one naman on the hoya filter

test shot with a generic filter - screwed my d300's AF. this is the best shot out of 5

hoya filter - one shot, sharp and nice.

reason bakit mas soft ang generic filter? glare.

reflection of a light bulb on the generic filter

same shot on the hoya uv filter - less reflection, less glare
