Ive just installed an artec rail sa neck ng fernando strat ko and i find that lumakas ang attack ng
picking ko,but it sounded like a les paul neck pick up,mejo bass na midrangey so im adjusting and re adjusting the height of the pickup para humina ng kaunti ang tunog para bumalik ang twang.
so far it sounds good and probably i need to get "hiyang" for the sound. thumbs up!

dont want to start a war here just my Opinion i hope you guys don't crucify me
bought and intalled about 5pcs of ths already and im beginning to believe that they tend to be too "bassy"? placed them on alder, ash and mahogany with maple top body and they tend to be muddy on the neck position, on the mid they sound abit the same as the one on the neck very slight difference really,
i believe they are are designed to be placed in any position but IMHO they sound lifeless on the neck and mid on the bridge position however that's a different story thats where this pickups really shine very well balanced on the bridge, coil tapping the rail didn't really gave me a usable sound to be honest, the output on this one is around 9k+ splitting this would give you roughly around 4.5k-5k at most so thats really weak in my dictionary hehehehe
but again for the price, you really cant complain much hehehehehe
on to those artec tele pickups well same opinion the neck pickup its so-so but the bridge pickup especially the big pole one's that baby is Hot :)
i believe the extra more or less 800 you'll spend on a entwistle asn 57 noiseless pickups would be a better investment or the 62 model, and if your into Humbucker size pickups, check the entwistle HDN that TMS is selling it did magic on a mahog bodied, mahog neck custom of a friend sounded great
again this is just my opinion based on my first hand experience with the artec and artec entwislte pickups that TMS is selling just here to give my take on this
at the end of the day if the artec rails makes you happy and you find the sound your looking for on the rails then by all means pakyawan na hehehehe
as for me id pay the extra for those entwistle really worth it if you ask me both the SC's and the humb pickups

you mean a comment? well, yun nga, the output is tama lang, so adjust it's distance from the strings accordingly..
by the way, both of your pickups have alnico 5 magnets. :-)

the bridge pickup that you got is the TRA65, that's the overwound version of the TRA44 (vintage-voiced)
tip: lower the height of the TRA65, so it won't overpower the neck pickup (TFA40C).
that particular neck pickup has a fairly medium output, but it's sound is pretty transparent

i had the same problem. go with the "auto split" wiring that dakukoy recommended. that's what he did with my strat.

bought and intalled about 5pcs of ths already and im beginning to believe that they tend to be too "bassy"? placed them on alder, ash and mahogany with maple top body and they tend to be muddy on the neck position, on the mid they sound abit the same as the one on the neck very slight difference really,
i believe they are are designed to be placed in any position but IMHO they sound lifeless on the neck and mid on the bridge position however that's a different story thats where this pickups really shine very well balanced on the bridge, coil tapping the rail didn't really gave me a usable sound to be honest, the output on this one is around 9k+ splitting this would give you roughly around 4.5k-5k at most so thats really weak in my dictionary hehehehe
but again for the price, you really cant complain much hehehehehe
on to those artec tele pickups well same opinion the neck pickup its so-so but the bridge pickup especially the big pole one's that baby is Hot :)
i believe the extra more or less 800 you'll spend on a entwistle asn 57 noiseless pickups would be a better investment or the 62 model, and if your into Humbucker size pickups, check the entwistle HDN that TMS is selling it did magic on a mahog bodied, mahog neck custom of a friend sounded great
again this is just my opinion based on my first hand experience with the artec and artec entwislte pickups that TMS is selling just here to give my take on this
at the end of the day if the artec rails makes you happy and you find the sound your looking for on the rails then by all means pakyawan na hehehehe
as for me id pay the extra for those entwistle really worth it if you ask me both the SC's and the humb pickups

yep. it is single coil-sized humbucker pup.
i am really greatful with my artec double rail pickup. noiseless talaga sya. very warm on the neck. pero konting tweak lang with thevolume control or volume ng guitar and amp, it can sound like crispy strat. well, IMO!
also a good chorus pedal can add to a brighter tone syempre.
when a dirt ped is engaged, a warm noiseless tone will come out. sarraapp!!!

if for strat, you can use the SBA73C in the mid and neck position as well, but i suggest using 500k pots and the appropriate tone capacitor. :-)

*the good thing about pickups with moderate output is that there's room for you to tame it, while having the option to boost it up. (do the Slash approach, buddy.. :-))now that you mentioned it, hmmmm.... i guess would have to agree.

1st sa artec, they have humbuckers merong white, black mostly alnico's price range is around 750-950 they even have 7 string pickups daks just correct me about the pricing ha anadami kasing pickups d ko mamemorize lahat, single coil nila are those rail types pero i think sc sized humbucker din sya hehehehe, yung tele meron sila na true sc talaga vintage bridge and those fat boy looking na kagaya ng sa GFS yung malalaki pole pieces
2nd enwislte : they have the HDN's which is my customers fave and ako din personally i like it for heavy stuff, they also have those dark star the one with the ceramic magnets, for scs naman they have the noiseless 57 model stacked and design nya you need to rout your body a bit deeper, they also have that 62 basically prices of the entwistle arent bad the hdn's 1295 or 1299, the sc noiseless 1295-1299 basta almost 1300, dark star is only 950 tama daks? yung ibang sc's nila from 950-1300 din
3rd and the best of the Bunch The Giovanni, im a big fan of Gio's since hearing good things about it in MLP or My Les Paul Forum, a customer of mine had me installed a giovanni GVH-2 and a set of GCS-1 and they sound wonderful to my ears again this are my personal opinion what might sound nice to me might not be your cup of tea hehehehehe, read on MLP that some people compares the giovanni SC's to those of fralins and the GVH-1 and 2 to be a very good PAF copy, they say that the details on these pickups are quite nice including winding etc.... im a bit sad though i wanted a GVH-2 unfortunately tms imported the gvh-1 only huhuhu, anyways they also have those GCH which some say are for the CHUG CHUG lovers, ok so here's my recollection regarding pricing again daks corect me if i didnt get it right
Giovanni:
Single coil - 1400-1600+
P90 90 (dog ear)- 1600+
GCH - 1600+
GVH-1 - 2000
not exact figures but its quite close hehehehehe

and last was the Giovanni GVH-2 and GCS-2 na set pinaka ka na gustohan ko sa lahat for the vintage sound

Installed my Tele rails pickup sa king Greg Bennett Tele (FA1) at ito lang ang masasabi ko- WOW! :-o
Una sa clean tone, medyo distorted sya sa full volume PERO if you lower the volume (around 4-6) ang ganda ng tunog, nandun pa rin yung 'quack' pero hindi manipis ang tunog.
At kapag nasa drive channel/ or gumamit ka ng od pedal naman ayos na ayos din ang tunog. from dirty blues to dimebag squel panalo.
Kaya sa mga nagdadalawang isip na bumili, itigil nyo na yan, punta na ng mall at umiskor :lol:
For P750 SULIT na SULIT! :-)

sir daks, question... whats the difference between HDN and Darkstar humbuckers? i know they're both 16 ohms but with the sound, how does ceramic pickups differ to neodynum ones? Which of them would you recommend for me? I'm looking for that punchy mids and stompering lows...:-)

anyway, for the benefit of all, the main difference of the two is that the Dark Star has more bass and low mids, but is still bright enough; the HDN has more brilliance to it as compared to the Dark Star.
regarding the magnets, both ceramic and neodymium have strong magnetic fields (that's why the neodymium bar embedded in the HDN is just small/narrow), it's just that, in my opinion, neodymium has that clarity associated with Alnico magnets.
ok, but remember what the great Bill Lawrence said; tone of the pickup relies on the design (of the winding), not just the magnet type used. :-)
so if you're after thumping mids and lows, the Dark Star would suit you. You might also want to opt for the Artec Giovanni GCH-2 :-) thanks!

Sabi mo kasi sa kin gagawin mong HSS setup, kala ko SSS yung stock mo :lol: Kung sa neck nakalagay yung Artec Dual Rail, dapat talaga 500k volume and tone pots. :-)
try to switch the positions of the green and black wires, or exchange the position of the ground and hot wires of the middle single coil. Just a little patience, brother

I noticed also the Artec pick up has a lesser magnetic force compared to the stock pick ups...

when I installed an artec dual rail sa strat ni half_empty na naka-stock 250k pots, medyo di ko talaga trip tunog niya dun. but when i fitted kune_km's Ibanez GSA60 (HSS) na may 500k pots, wala kaming masabi sa tone, men. shoot na!
so one time, a random customer walked in at TMS to have his SSS Bullet Strat converted to HSH ( artec rails on bridge and neck), I asked him to score 500k pots sa lazer. ayun na nga, ganda nung tone. I'll post the vid when I retrieve it
kahit ano naman, basta mas mababa ng konti ang DC resistance niya sa artec dual rail (strat: 12k ohms | tele: 13k ohms)
although kung panay rock ka, Entwistle XS62N ang ok. Kung mas versatile trip mo, Artec GCS-1 na lang

In my case, I have to get the Artec Double Rails pickup really closer to the strings to match the volume output of the stock pickups...
At approximately 0.4cm from the Artec Double Rails rail to the string while on my stock pick ups were approximately 1.7cm from the strings...
In that given distance, they have the same output volumes...
I'll try to replace the 250K potentiometer with 500K tonight...
^^Thank you for this post. I'm getting the same experience. Installed the dual rails on my bro's cheapo S-S-S on the bridge position. Mahina. Sobrang lapit dapat sa strings just to match the output of the neck and middle. I checked my connections and re-flowed fresh solder, wala ganun talaga. Another thing I noticed, the output on the G and B strings are even more weaker compared to other strings.
hmmm.. I don't like what's happening here. I might as well install a few specimen to some guitars. I'll just make sure this batch dual rails from the recent shipment don't have a defect or something. For the past year that I've been installing these (mostly in the bridge position), I didn't encounter such problem. I'll give you all feedback on this. Thanks!

just installed my dual rail sa strat ko last week... I followed the diagram pati na yung pagtrouble shoot as posted by sir daks sa previous page.. Ito ngayon yung problem ko:
- masyadong mahina ang volume nya compared sa stock pups ng neck & mid.
- pagpinagsama ang rail with the middle pup ang lakas ng hum...
- lubog ang volume ng E string tapos sobrang lakas naman ang volume ng B string...
- if i tap each rail ng pup mas malakas ang output ng isang rail compared to the other.
---despite of these setbacks ayos talaga ang tunog. Nasubukan ko na lahat ng nakasaad sa thread na to especially yung kay sir daks pero ganun pa rin ang resulta....

my suggestions:
-check all soldering points. make sure na "lutung-luto" ang hinang and walang takas na wire/s, wag lang sana busted yung pickup selector mo, like yung nangyari kay ninmei
-adjust the height of the pickup. taasan mo konti sa treble side. check the height in contrast with other pickups
-exchange the position of the green and black wires, or yung exchange the position of the hot and ground wires of your stock pickups
-to eliminate hum on position 4 (mid = bridge), gayahin mo yung "auto-split" wiring, as done in Ibanez JEM's and S.
-baka tumatama yung white and red wires sa isang ground point. shield the ends of it with a shrinkable tube or tape it (electrical tape) dun sa main insulator ng pickup conductor (dun sa rubber tube na black, wrap it there)
if all else fails, pickup selector nga yan. I've encountered that problem thrice already. palit ka lang ng switch, or trace the problem sa switch; baka may naharangan or nabali na tab

of course it will buzz when you touch the rails or poles without touching any ground point, like the strings, machine heads, or bridge/saddles. try shielding your cavities :-) question; what wires did you use as ground? did you shield the ends of the red and white wires?
ganun nga sir. no problem naman kasi its very hard to reach when playing w/o grounding, i just found it weird, hehe. the black wire and the bare wire for the ground then green is the hot, nka sheild naman yung red and white together., overall its great. hehe

Has anyone tried to wire the double rails as series/parallel on the bridge? And how does it sound along with a stock single coil RWRP middle pickup for a strat in position 4, i.e., bridge (series, default) + middle and bridge (parallel) + middle? Sir Dax, any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance....
By default wiring, i find the double rails in the bridge on its own for a clean setting OK. On a dirt setting, this pickup really shines. its really meant to rock!

It sounds fine when you blend it with a RWRP mid pickup. Just find the right hot wire (either the green or black) for you.
you should look at dax's review about the artec HBBA's, basswood din ata ang guitar niya..

Nasagot na ni sir dax yung tanong ko na yun sa PM. Sabi niya, isang model pa lang daw, yung HBBA-117 ata yun. Alnico magnets. Nung nag-pm siya (april pa yun), around P850 raw. Dumaan ako last month sa TMS Cubao, P750 na lang sabi ng staff dun. Bumaba ata presyo e. And dat's good. :-D Sadly, di pa rin ako nakakabili dahil sa inasikaso ko muna ang iba pang factors ng tone ko. Any user reviews out there?
correction: the 7-string pickup (HBA-117) is really worth 850. the one you might be referring to is the HBBA-XBB (my favorite! :lol: ), which is cheaper by a hundred bucks, because it's the 6-string version. :-)

the SBA73C is versatile enough. One thing I liked about it is iit cleans up well when you roll down the volume pot. :-)

Alin sa wiring sir? Yun din naman ang dating wires nun. Maayos din pagka-solder ko, nilagyan ko din extra ground wires yung pots & selector. Yung ibang guitars ko tahimik kahit nka todo overdrive. Try ko bawasan ng wires, bka masyado mahaba.oo baka nga masyado mahaba wires mo. Try mo i shield guitar mo tapos i body ground mo.

guys question.. i was working on a friend's guitar. napagana ko na yung single sized artec dual rails na humbucker. walang hum even with high gain setup. pero when i touch the rails of the pickups mag squeal bigla nang malakas pag high gain. can you tell me what's wrong with the wiring?

as of the moment my digicam is not with me but i will post photos sir. the pickup looks bnew, even the wires have no signs of age or being desoldered. the metal parts specially the rails looks shiny and new as well as the plastic parts that holds the rails looks bnew too.

guys question.. i was working on a friend's guitar. napagana ko na yung single sized artec dual rails na humbucker. walang hum even with high gain setup. pero when i touch the rails of the pickups mag squeal bigla nang malakas pag high gain. can you tell me what's wrong with the wiring?
green goes to the pickup selector
black goes together with ground on the pot
white and red are soldered together.

pag may magnet sa ilalim yung pickup they're using ceramic. pag wala naman, that's alnico pickups katulad nung artec mo. usually, mas lower output ang mga alnico compared to their ceramic counterpart with the same reading (resistance, etc.)

Hello, New here. But I'd like to thank sir dakukoy for installing Artec dual rails on my Tele copy, It really sounds great. Just want to share my experience with this great pickup, I had it palced on the Bridge position. The output itself is great but noticed that with a tele it produced too much "Ice Picking" So I've a done alot of adjustments on the pickup's height and sure enough I was able to get a solid sound without loosing the twang at the same time the output is really great, I feel I was able to get my desired sound, I did notice one thing though the treble was a bit more crisp, on other guitars I guess it's fine but too much "Ice picking in the ear" is a bit too much for me so, So I had to 2adjust the pickup with more mids than treble, and sure enough I was able to get it. This is a great pickup for an alnico V it sure gives much needed output just like ceramic pickups.

Sayang nga si dax hinde na sya nagtatrabaho dun. ang bait nyan tao na yan bilib ako dyan. gusto ko nga sana mag pa push/pull tapos install ng noiseless na lipstick or vintage na hums para sa tele copy ko, inadvisan nya ko na wag na daw kasi "basong basong" daw yung tunog kaya imbis na gumastos pako sa pickups shielding nalang heheh... sana nga ehh si daxs nalang maginstall ng pups mo daming advise..

check your tone capacitors. If they are 0.047uf (microfarad), change them to 0.022uf.
depending on the cap value, treble bleed can have an effect to overall tone even when the volume pot is at 10. I use a 331picofarad cap for treble bleed on my twin-humbucker guitars. The highs are somehow boosted (sort of single coil-ish character; think of Joe Satriani's tone)
anyway, a Giovanni GVH-2 or GCH-1 would fit that. :-)

those are some pretty cool caps getting one myself at 0.047uf, Newey you might want to try 50's wiring instead of treble bleed, it worked better for me since it took away the mud on my overal tone, plus it made my mix position "in phase" with eachother sincewithout it it seems to be "out of phase" newey I have a 0.047uf mylar cap, and since you have 0.022 caps coupled with hums this should work in letting the highs roll :-)

Try adjusting PU heights. On my setup my neck and mid pickups are leveled low, the bridge pickup is set higher.

What can you say about HBWA-XBN? The HBs with alnico 5, with 17k dc resistance?
I have it's twin, the HBBA-XBB. Color lang pinag-iba nila. The neck is strat-ish yet chunky, and the bridge has that Satch midrange. Both clean up pretty good when the volume pot is rolled down.

ipakabit mo sa ibang luthier. it only costs more or less 350. what i did is bumili ako ng pickups sa hi-fi lounge tapos ipinakabit ko sa Lazer. 350 lang ang pa-install.

try moving the pickup closer to the strings.. kapag wala pa rin, try to check your wiring, pots, cables, and amp settings.

basta ang typical wiring is that
the tone knobs work for the ff: neck alone, neck and middle, middle alone and middle and bridge, BUT it won't work for the bridge alone.

Hum? Hindi naman parang grounding problem? Pacheck mo nalang bro sa luthier to fix the entire wiring. Baka tama pagkakasolder sa pickup pero internally, baka hindi pala ok ang grounding ng gitara, kulang sa sheilding, etc.ahh oo baka nga sa wiring , kasi yung mga wires masyadong crowded samantalang 3way selector lang

Sa TMS cubao ako bumili. Doon naman puro bridge pickup ang stocks. Swerte na lang at meron pang neck sa warehouse nila tapos nagpareserve na lang ako till dumatin kahapon. I think may 2 stocks pa ng bridge dun. Just look for Ave doon to help you in looking for stocks.

I got the humbucker for my tele. I'm not sure if I wired it wrong pero grabe pa rin yung feedback. The sound got heavier, but the feedback is still the same. I'm not sure where I went wrong. Am I supposed to change the volume and tone pots? My soldering seems solid enough. I bought it from TMS cubao noon pa, I was wondering if I could request for an installation. Hmm.

ayus pala yung hbba na humbucker akala ko problem yung mahina yung magnet nya. Pero ang lakas pala nito at mahiyaw ang tunog pag binebend yubg string ng guitar. Ngayon ay rewire na lang kailangan ko para mamaximize ko yung humbucker need some pots change.
I loaded my Tele with the Dual Rails (humbucker?) bridge pickup. Should I change my pots? I still get ear piercing feedback even with the humbuckers. =(
Check your ground solders bro. Mine works fine and it is quiet even on high gain settings.

Wala namang hum sa tele ko nung na-install ko na. Minimal lang pag mataas yung gain, nung kinabit ko yung pup ko, nilagyan ko ng shielding yung bare/ground wire kasi nabo-bother ako sa kanya. Hehe. Then i did some setup/modifications tas ayun, wala na talagang hum kahit mataas ang gain:
Coil tap/split. - tumahimik siya kahit naka tap.
Try mo rin lagyan ng aluminum tape yung chamber ng gitara mo, pati yung takip. Nakakatulong yun ng maigi.
109php lang yung aluminum tape sa ace hardware.

kidding aside, yes, it's for all positions. it's just a matter of height adjustment. if you want to use it in the neck position, just please make sure you are using 500k pots :)

correction: the 7-string pickup (HBA-117) is really worth 850. the one you might be referring to is the HBBA-XBB (my favorite! :lol: ), which is cheaper by a hundred bucks, because it's the 6-string version. :-)

Mga bro, need help with my pickup wiring. I recently purchased an Artec Pickup (the neon green one, HB). Lima yun wires niya ( white, red, black, green, tsaka bare wire/ground?), now and wiring ng guitar ko with Infinity pickups, red, white and black lang. I am sure dun ko din isosolder kung saan nanggaling ang mga wire but I have no idea kung anong wires ang hindi ko isosolder, or pagdidikitin ko ba dun sa Artec pickup.

d naman necessary bro, nakaDual Rails ako sa tele pero 250k yung volume and tone knobs (push/pull) ko. warmer yung tone pag mas mataas yung impedance, yung iba 1M ohm pa... although gusto ko din itry na mag-500k sa volume knob. antay din tayo ng inputs ng iba.

Hi guys. Just got myself a rails type strat pickup. Have a few questions. I'll be bringing the guitar to a luthier to get the pickups installed, do I still need to bring a wiring diagram for him? If I do, does anyone have one for this pickup? For position 4, I want the middle pickup on and the rails pickup split. And lastly, which pots should I replace? I've read that 500k pots are the best match for these. Do I have to replace all three? Sorry I really don't have a clue regarding this. TIA! :)

low output ba talaga yung dual rails?bought one few months ago,installed it in bridge position of my strat.it was no match with the stock pickups.i got the artec closest to the strings and the stock pups almost leveled with the pickguard but still ganun pdn.and i lacks bass,really.did you guys enncounter the same problem?Check the reading using a multimeter. High output dpat ang dualrails. Most likely sira ang isang rail niyan. Pag ang reading is paiba iba or dead yung isang rail isoli mo yan sira yan

Alam ko ang avail lang sa tms ay pang bridge pup, but you can use it sa neck kaso bka masapawan ang h mo kung low output yung bridge at middle pup mo sir

Just got a used Artec dual rail for a Tele's bridge position. Would anyone know the color coding for this pickup? Not planning to do any coil tapping so I just need to know which leads need to be connected for a series wired humbucker. Salamat!
How much does Artec dual rails cost? I purchased one years ago but planning to sell it for a reasonable price... :?
