I have experienced this on other forums and imho I am not for it.
It creates issues and further confusion since credibility of the voter is not verified and remains anonymous as well.
I do not think this will help us in any way. :|
i have seen this implemented in vbulletin systems. iba ata ang system natin eh....
ok lang na meron, ok lang na wala...
We use Simple Machines Forum (SMF), an open source BBS. If there's a free Karma system plug-in for SMF out there, I'd like to know about it.
This is ok. However, Philmusic is not really a Buy and Sell site but a music forum website.
baka sa mga transactions to. ok to para mabawasan ang scammers.
parang stats lang sa Fallout to hehe.
here we go..

A machinery to drive a popularity contest.
I'm sure this will cast halo effect on some undeserving members while others will be unjustly branded with it's negative counterpart. Whatever the case maybe, I hope this does not promote more division and intolerance in PM.
Beats the hell out of me thinking what the purpose of this Karma Buttons are for.
8-)
Hope that the mods can shed some light.
pardon my ignorance pero paano mag add ng karma points sa isang forumite? it would be useful lalo na sa classifieds.
just click the applaud or smite button sa ilalim ng profile nung forumite. yes, it is definitely intended for classifieds use. merong 28 days cooldown time in between karma applications per member para hindi minu-minuto yung gawin ng ibang potential scammers/haters if ever.
Parang wala naman akong makita...
same here, kaya ko na post yung question eh. i even went to the member's profile page, wala pa din
You don't see [applaud] [smite] right just beneath the number of posts? I can see yours.
Edit: you cannot see the buttons on the profile page of the user.
Wala ma'am.

we'll always keep an eye if ever. it won't be easy though! :nosebleed:
simply put, it's a "like" and "unlike" button here that forumites could utilize to either promote or downgrade a certain member's standing here at PM. like everything else, it could be either used for good or for evil. it's only at it's early stage so please do expect further developments that would be implemented for the betterment of PM. cheers!

sir, how does this karma thing work?... like mine may nakita ako negative, not even knowing kung ano un... parang unfair yata....
member karma acts as your social standing "in a way" here in PM. thus, depending on how other forumites see you, it could either be in a positive or negative perspective.
wow may nagkanegative na agad.
akala ko mga mod at mga seller pa lang nagkakaron ng ganito since beta test pa lang... :-o
it does seem unfair sir
it is actually applicable to all forumites already. we're still working on the system for those who can't access member karma yet.
It is as subjective as individuals are.
sometimes po kasi individuals will judge you through that karma button....
I have been a member of PM for quite sometime ... as far as I know wala ako naagrabyado.... then all of a sudden may negative karma ako... so, technically anyone can just put a negative karma?
technically (and unfortunately) yes; as much as free will and freedom of expression is concerned. it is at it's early stages though; more developments would be implemented eventually to control and promote the proper administration of karma points.

I think it would be better na parang feedback na lang para makita yung reason why....
cant it work like a feed back button on ebay?
like a member has to post why he left the positive or negative karma?
... i dont know how to access the button. id want to add some + on my fave forumers, hehe
would like to know what browser/devise are they using ? i did some modification on the forum where by if the site is viewed on an iphone resolution 480x320 landscape, it hides some functionality
I don't seem to have the applaud/smite buttons :? Kawawa naman yung may -1 karma agad.
frankly, thank you's in posts would be better.
oh, and +1 to feedback rather than karma since it would give you an insight bat may negative reaction sa isang tao.
most of us still don't have those appaud/smite buttons
browser dependent ba or wala pa talaga buttons? +100 to feedback page/section sa profile ng members para madali i track
sir firefox and google chrome gamit ko i've tried it on 2 different laptops same paren :( ano browser mo sir?
most probably mga moderators at mga nakakataas palang meron netong karma buttons.
meron ka din sir:

Yep, still can't see those smite and applaud buttons :?
Then how come shkc was able to get a -1 :-(
most probably a mod/admin/person of higher rank among us regular users did it for reasons unknown. (http://www.talkbass.com/forum/images/smilies/peepwall.gif)
How about using the "karma" function. I've seen some forums where if someone post something good, people click "applaud" then if they post something not worthwhile, then people click "smite". Not sure if this will work here in our culture, not sure if it will do more good than bad (like make the site more "clickish" than more welcoming). Anyway, just a thought, you may "smite" me if you think this is not a good idea, haha

Let us not forget the web-culture of the "troll". People with intentions that are not so appealing, and are immature in nature, may create accounts for the sole purpose of "joy-smiting".
so, any updates regarding this?
us 'regular' members still can't utilize this function.

+1 the trolls, bullies, and self proclaimed victims, would be clicking non stop on thread like AGT's..
exactly the reason as to why the karma function was taken out of general use and was delegated strictly for mod utilization.
Ok ung idea para at-least alam nang mga buyer sino ung mga legit/good sellers. :)
that's weird naun ko napansin na i got a -1.
Bro, andito:

Previously, under our post count was a Karma count. Now it's replaced by Seller Feedback. Can the mods explain to us how do we get merit or demerit points? This will be really helpful when selling our gears. Back then, I always keep a record of my transactions and the seller/buyer's comments at the Buy and Sell Reference Thread. With this new function, dealing with forumers will be easier with regards to credibility.
More power PhilMusic.
napansin nyo ba yung forum status, meron anng philmusic sa unahan!! halimbawa "philmusic forum fanatic"
How can we provide a link of the item sold if the link was already erased by the mods? Like when I marked my item "SOLD" on the thread title. When I tried to check it again by using the url I saved, I cannot access it anymore. Medyo mahirap ata yung magbibigay pa ng link? Anyway, these are my transactions for reference:

I was supposed to integrate all of my deals on one post (on 707). Unfortunately, there is a maximum number of characters that can be inputted so I made a new post for it (on 1022).
According to the above:
Since toybitz implemented his new rule of maintaining 1 to 2 pages of thread in the classifieds, all of the comments I received from forumers were deleted. Would this be a little unfair for some of us members putting an effort to get our buyers to comment on that one specific thread for future reference and/or credibility, and just having it deleted by a mod?
You may be or may not be aware of this issue but I have discussed this before with toybitz. Unfortunately, he cannot revert back what he has deleted.

@TS - hope you don't mind me posting this for the benefit of educating other forumites:
I don't mind. (http://i794.photobucket.com/albums/yy227/gunslingerz13/Like/Likelight.jpg):-D
lol can't edit my message above. spell/grammar cheeeeck
i hope philmusic should honor the buyer/seller feedback on different sites too such sulit.com.ph or etc.
just a suggestion.
thanks and more power.
ahhhmm., I think., the buyer should also earn a point for every successful transaction... What say you? :?
yeah. changed it back to normal though since some of the mods found it as somewhat redundant. been tinkering under the hood recently. :-D
instead, the feedback points has been changed to "classifieds feedback". I find it nice for the incomming members to determine what is that point count in the User's profile and to avoid the potential hard to deal with people also. ^-^
yup. detailed info here chief:
UPDATED FEATURE: CLASSIFIEDS FEEDBACK
http://talk.philmusic.com/index.php?topic=283531.0
Thanks Bro Riff_6603 ^-^ , Everyone should be informed about this.
so how does this work?
say ive sold something. where does the buyer leave a feedback about me? shouldnt it be best placed on my profile ala amazon seller?
question mods, i know there is a way and will you be thinking of making the classified feedback "comment" field mandatory before a user submits a classified feedback to a user and make it public ? as you can see i have 2 negative feedbacks on my profile and i am not sure who did it or why baka napag tripan lang ako or meron lang trigger happy mag click ng negative feedback. making it public and have a mandatory comment why would be really be helpful i hope you guys do understand what i mean. for the last 6 months i have very limited transactions here in pm and most of them hindi natutuloy due to my very busy schedule at work and i am actually the seller and i am not a buy and seller. i always politely ask users interested sa mga items ko na sobrang busy ako and baka pwede mag meet sa lugar na pareho kami comfortable at time. i was trying to figure out if one of those was a transaction na hindi na tuloy dahil sa meeting place cause madami akong nakausap at dapat makaka deal na tinatanggihan na medyo a-hole kausap na gusto ako ang pumunta sa place nila or nang lo lowball at pag di ako nag respond i get really negative texts from them.
regards,
pm user bugoy
So here's the thing. the "Classifieds Feedback" system was used to be known as "Karma". the "Karma" system was pretty vague, mods only found use for it in general to "smite" violators in general or "applaud" certain members as we find fit (e.g. rockophoria creating an IOS app for PM etc.)
Now, since I updated it to act specifically as "Classifieds Feedback" recently, here are certain clarifications:Why do I have negative feedback?
- Q: You might have either a positive or negative feedback already, prior to the feedback function change. Could one have them updated or reset?
- A: That depends. If you already have positive feedback and still want it reset, you've earned my respect for setting a fair game. If you have negative feedback and want it reset, well, we do have certain considerations to follow:
- You violated PM's rules and regulations (not necessarily restricted to the classifieds rules and regulations but in general)
- You posted a non-musical item in the unclassifieds board.
NEW FEATURE: MOD WARNING NOTIFICATION
- Q: Since my negative feedback was a remnant from the previous karma function, could I have it reset then?
- A: Yes. I could reset it for you. but here's the catch: I'll be giving you a warning point instead. you still violated a rule and we're not looking at forgetting about it anytime soon. it is fair enough IMHO. (at least this time, you could earn back your worth.. or posting capabilities for that matter). But if you violated a classifieds rule, well then, it's your fault for not reading the rules and regulations.
- Q: What's a warning point? I don't get it..
- A: Well, you could check out the details here:

Questions? Just do let me know!
so.., hindi pala na-a-advise ang forumer kung bakit at kanino galing ang classified feedback :?
medyo may flaw nga pag ganun., kasi., pwede ako makipag-conspire sa isang forumer para maka-gain ng + feedback... :-\
whatchathink good sirs?
dapat legit ung transaction sa mga feedback, sa isa ko pong forum neutral grounds, non music related ganito rin hitsura nung site, nakakapaglagay kami nang mga trade feedbacks sana me feature ding ganun dito :-)
cant you just make it ebay or tipidpc style when you look at the user's profile you see on the fly the feedbacks and the reasons ? ebay and tipidpc are big sites and there's a reason why they do that. what you're doing is unfair and does not makes sense at all. i had 2 transaction almost made but the person im dealing with backed out because he said i had 2 negative feedbacks without them even knowing how i got them. do you think they would bother to look and search to the other forum or thread and browse through the pages just to see how i got them ? unlike if you had them attached to my profile and can see them asap like tipidpc or ebay style ? i know pwede to nag setup na ko ng madaming forums and i had set this feature up before sa simple machines and phpbb
I'll let Qen know if it's possible or available to add that feature so that we could utilize a feedback "comment" section on every profile.
it is i just forgot how to do it on simple machines but i remember doing that before. in phpBB and myBB it's already built in

Questions? Just do let me know!
why not have someone code a custom plugin for this to cater exactly what's needed here ?
So how does this work? How do we gain points? What does green bar and red bar mean?
..and why in the world the word repütation censored? Because of the word "püta" in it? lol
yeeeeah, wtf is this for? why are uglier people getting higher scores than me?

oh, i had no idea, a lot of us over at guitar central really had no idea we had to do something else outside of PM. I guess you guys would need to push harder :)
I see. Maybe in the near future you might see someone posting here www.peopleperhour.com (http://www.peopleperhour.com) about a certain need for guitar guys. That might be a good use of your porting your online Reputation gathered from PhilMusic.com.

I may have to ask qen take it out. [gooey brown stuff]'s too complicated to work with even for me.
Hi Guys,
Re the Reputation power app, it was supposed to be an upgrade from the previous classifieds feedback system that we've utilized prior to the gorated widget implementation. I've tried checking it out and see as to how we'd be able to utilize it side by side with gorated. thing is:
so there we go. please do ignore it for the meantime until further updates. thanks! :-P
