2001 Midwest Music Summit

On August 10th & 11th Indianapolis will become the music epicenter of the world.  For one weekend, Indianapolis will share the same glory as CMJ in New York, WMC in Miami and MIDEM in Europe.  This milestone event will forever change the way the recording industry listens to the voice and music of our region.  Welcome to the first annual Midwest Music Summit.

Scarab Records is proud to present the first completely diverse music conference the Midwest has ever experienced.  The Midwest Music Summit will feature all genres of music, including rock, hip-hop and electronica, while at the same time providing a comprehensive look into the music industry.  Every facet of the music business will be addressed including college and commercial radio, booking and touring, promotions, and manufacturing and distribution.  The Summit will open channels of communication and provide a positive environment for networking opportunities.  Panel discussions and seminars presenting some of the industry’s top executives will take place all weekend long, while at the same time literally hundreds of national, regional and local acts will appear on over 30 stages at venues and nightclubs in Indianapolis.  In addition, the Summit will also feature an industry trade show presenting everything from music instrument manufacturers to distribution companies.  Since Indiana is so centrally located, there really is no better place for musicians and industry representatives to gather in the United States every year.

David Lindquist, music critic for the Indianapolis Star writes, “The Midwest Music Summit appears to be the most ambitious music festival in Indianapolis history.”  It is through the efforts of Indiana’s local music scene that this conference has evolved.  With your support we can turn this one time event into an annual celebration of Midwest music and culture.  With your support this event will thrive and grow, filling the potential we all know the Midwest has to offer.  Please join us this summer in our proud pursuit of music history.
