HOW IT WORKS

Stage 1: PRELIMINARIES

All demo videos shall be screened by a panel of judges and only eight (8) entrants will be chosen to participate in each Elimination Rounds.
The 8 qualifiers will be announced at dutdutan.com.ph, and will be notified by phone and registered mail from a Dutdutan representative.
In the event that a qualifier will not be able to compete at the designated time and place of Elimination, the contestant who received the next highest score automatically qualifies to participate.

Stage 2: ELIMINATION

Eight (8) contestants will compete in each of the two (2) venues.  A random drawing shall determine the pairs who will battle.
Each contestant will be given three (3) minutes to display his/her skills.
The four (4) highest scorers per venue will advance to the Semi-Finals

Stage 3: SEMI-FINALS

Eight (8) semi-finalists will compete to advance to the Finals.  A random drawing shall determine the pairs who will battle.
Each contestant will be given three (3) minutes to display his/her skills.
Only the two (2) highest scorers from the semi-finals will advance to the Final Competition.

Stage 4: FINAL COMPETITION

Each contestant will have three (3) minutes to display his/her skills.
The contestant with the higher Final Score will be declared Drum Duel Grand Winner, and shall have the opportunity to jam with our special guest drummer, to be announced at the final competition night.

JUDGING CRITERIA

A panel of judges consisting of industry luminaries shall decide on the winners, using the following criteria:

Overall Performance      (20%)
Originality          (20%)
Technique         (20%)
Style            (20%)
Stage Presence         (20%)

THE RULES

SNARE DRUM, DRUMSTICKS, BASS PEDAL, and DRUM THRONE are the only personal pieces of gear that a contestant may use during his/her performance.
All contestants must be at the venue at least an hour before the start of the competition.  Time of competition shall be determined and disseminated together with the preliminary notification and shall be binding.  Any contestant who is not present at the designated time and place shall be disqualified and will not be eligible to compete.
In case of a tie, there will be an additional round of competition (tie breaker), in which all tied contestants will have three (3) additional minutes to further demonstrate their skills.  The contestant with the highest final score in any tie breaker event shall be declared the winner.
In case a finalist or runner-up declines, or is not able to compete in the succeeding rounds for some reason, the contestant who received the next highest score shall be given the opportunity to compete.
Last year’s contestants are still qualified to join, except for the past Grand Winners.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees of Core Lifestyle Clothing, Inc. and all affiliated companies, parents, subsidiaries, officers, directors, employees, representatives, agents, and advertising and promotion agencies, and their immediate families, are NOT eligible to participate in this Contest.
You must be a qualified amateur to participate.  A “Qualified Amateur” is defined as one who is not a party to any endorsement contract.  For purposes of clarity, the term “professional musician” does not include teaching music or giving music lessons.
Prior to participation in the competition, all interested individuals will be asked to fill out a registration form (during the Preliminaries).  In the event that a discrepancy is found in a contestant’s registration form that conflicts with the competition’s rules, the said contestant will be disqualified from joining the competition.
