besides putting a dessicant inside my case, I wipe my strings with wd40. ewan ko lang kung masama siya sa wood ng guitar but I've been doing it for 10 years. ok pa naman siya.

i do the same...pero i don't directly spray it sa strings...i put a thin piece of cardboard between the strings and the fretboard then wipe it with a cotton cloth drizzled with WD40. works for me kahit sobrang pasmado ako.

ayos. nakita ko dati sa music store na may mga desiccant sila dun eh. kaya kinuha ko yung desiccant sa vitamins tapos nilagay ko na sa mga guitar case ko. tignan natin after a few months kung ok.

i must say, at first takot ako na these things might dry up my fretboard or something, so i didnt use them.

but then my strings really started to rust up. so i tried it, and with fast fret it works wonders.

so far wala akong rust at all and my woods seem fine. :-)

ano po yung fast fret?  :? san po ito nabibili?

HEY DUDEZ!

I figured I'd 1-up you all. I put 2 dessicant bags in my guitar case for 2 months.

Guess what?

My frets popped up and my intonation went whack. Buzzing happened. It took an Elegee day to fix. I also noticed the grain in the fretboard became more apparent and it looked really dry/bad.

If your fretboard isnt as dry as it should be ata, dessicants can be harmful. I suspect the dessicants pulled out the remaining moisture in my fretboard and made it contract- thus the frets popped-up slightly.

thx for the replies guys!

extra question:

Is it better to store your guitar inside it's case or just place it in a stand?

inside its case.,unless madami ka spare strings :)

That's why after using the guitar or restringing it, I apply fretboard conditioners. Lemon oil etc to preserve the wood. The dessicant bags help me to avoid rusting of strings and floyd parts.

Wala akong stand, pero ayoko gaanong tinatago, dahil sa expreience ko kinakalawang yung string nang mabilis (since takot ako magsilica gel) at pumuputi na parang amag yung fretboard mismo kapag malamig... anong tawag dun??

hello ok lang sir, silica gel? if you live near the ocean you have to have a custom made guitar case full of silica gel lol, it works for me, also the every custom guitar that gets shipped to me has two packets of silica gel one logged between the strings and one taped near the pickups

why should it make frets popout? its a packet? you dont apply it, its just put inside anything that you dont want moisture/condensation to happen. its commonly found in bags,shoes..in the instrument world its boxes(packaging),guitarcases, when i get guitars from china, japan, or even musiciansfriend, samash or guitarcenter the boxes will have these and when they get it from the storage area there is a packet between the strings

haha sometimes it is, but i guess you can approach your musicstore and ask for those, i dont know how they do it manila, but customer service in guitarcenter is good for me, if im missing tools(hex keys) for guitars ill just ask for those and they'll give them for free
