I agree. They're great pickups. The Suhr single coils (V60LP, V54 and Fletcher Landau) are awesome too. Lollars are a bit too bright for me.

i've never played suhrs & lollars before. hopefully that'll change soon!  :-)
i've always wanted to try them. vids on youtube sound very promising.

which lollar model did you find too bright?

Like I said in my previous post. I have those....it sounds decent at first but after a while it gets to sound sterile.

i had no probs with my strat so far.. pag nasa GIG studio ako, may 'grounded sound lang. pero dito sa bahay, o sa luthier ko, lalo na ung blues jam event sa Bri-iw.. wala. baka nga lang power surge lang ng location.

i was just moving the question to what is the best but affordable single pups for strats are available out there?

RWRP = reverse wound, reverse polarity. RWRP middle pickups eliminate/greatly reduce the hum of the neck and bridge pickups when the 5-way switch is placed at 2 or 4, respectively, due to phase cancellation. That's the reason why positions 2 and 4 are quiet compared to 1, 3 and 5 :)

The Suhr BPSSC system requires all three single coil pickups to have a DC resistance of 6-8kΩ with the middle pickup non-RWRP :)

like what poundcake explained. couldnt have said it better

Ilitch (bpssc innovator) explained some pointers when installing the BPSSC on sets with RWRP mid. Its not bad at all. but you re like spending 250bucks just to cancel out hum in pos 1 and 5

so if I get the regular pickup set I would hear the loud hum without the BPSCC, right? But, if I go the RWRP middle pickup route, I can only hear the hum reduction when I'm using 2 and 4 ONLY ...when using 1 3 and 5 ...the hum is going to be a loud beeyatch, right?

yep quite expensive. buti na lang the hum never bothered me. though my cavity is well shielded, amp is grounded (yep there was a time na-OC ako abt it). so very minimal na lang yun hum

so if I get the regular pickup set I would hear the loud hum without the BPSCC, right? But, if I go the RWRP middle pickup route, I can only hear the hum reduction when I'm using 2 and 4 ONLY ...when using 1 3 and 5 ...the hum is going to be a loud beeyatch, right?

with the regular set (like that of hendrix which are all wound in same direction) you will hear the inherent hum. with the bpscc system, you can cancel all those hum in all position by tweaking the trimpots on the system. very interesting technology, it claims no tone loss whatsoever

Right. with strat set with RWRP middle, hum is cancelled on position 2 and 4. position 1, 3 and 5, you'll hear the inherent hum again.
