I like Rico's songwriting more than Bamboo's.

from the first rivermaya album up to the " free" album.. i have always admired Rico Blanco's enigmatic songwriting skills....but after "tuloy ang ligaya" album.....di ko na gusto mga sumunod na kanta nila.

as for bamboo....i like his style of songwriting. he's quite poetic. actualy mas gusto ko yung mga sinusulat nya ngayon as oppose nung nasa RM pa sya.

as for singing dynamics....i'm all for bamboo...i'm sorry but i think rico has a diction problem. he's trying so hard to sound british.

Rico is the songwriter between the two.
Even his day job is composing. (Hit Productions)

I'm not sure what Bamboo actually writes - it seems that the band's compositions are all credited collectively so you don't know who writes what. Bamboo is a Fil-Am guy, I don't think he writes much Tagalog lyrics for example, though it's sho nuff he handles the English lyrics.

Siguro kahit hindi umalis si Bamboo sa Rivermaya noon, we have to admit that Rivermaya is a Rico Blanco dominated band.

During those days, kapag wala si Bamboo sa gig - Rico Blanco can fill in the shoes of Bamboo (kahit na medyo sumasablay ng konti tuloy pa din ang gig) . But never did Bamboo fill in the shoes of Rico Blanco kapag wala si Rico- chances are hindi na tuloy ang gig....hindi kayang gawin ni Bamboo ang ginagawa ni Rico.

Voice quality and showmanship lang ang lamang ni Bamboo.

Pero when it comes to songwriting, arranging, playing various instruments - playing the guitar while singing, playing the keyboards while singing --- Praise goes to Rico!

Rico sa songwriting - hands down. sobrang respetado ko yung songwriting skills nya, he really knows how to make hit songs with actual sensible content. sa vocals? talentwise, maybe Bamboo but ayoko yung mga rap-rap style nya ngayon sa Bamboo pati yung parang laging nauubuusan ng hininga. but Bamboo pa rin sa vocals.

nagkaroon ng concert ang bamboo + rivermaya + kame sa meyc college.. so sa live performance na compare ko yung dalawa. rico vs bamboo. dati mas favor ako kay bamboo pero nung napanood ko na sila ng sabay. so nacompare ko silang dalawa. simula nun mas na tripan ko si rico. mas kaya niyang magdala ng crowd kesa kay bamboo. mas may dating siya kesa kay bamboo. pero sa boses bamboo ako.. ayun

di tulad ng kay rico.. may sense din nmn kya lng mas masarap pkingan ung mga gwa ni bamboo.. pti ung message na gus2 nya parating mas maganda.. cguro gwa ng dahil sa na rehab sya..

for me, i like rico for his songwriting and performance. todo bigay. tsaka i totally like his creativity to make new versions of their songs during concerts.

what i like about bamboo is his performance rin, it's a total trip. i just dunno about the songwriting kasi di na ako masyadong naging fan ng bamboo eh. about the voice, his voice is great but sometimes pare-pareho na yung tono na kinakanta nya. during performance naman, it's like he's snobbish and seldom makes the crowd part of him. rico on the other hand is ONE with the crowd.
