Why Is Most Music So Bad Today?

mas okay pa nga ata yung mga ibang boy bands noon (Backstreet Boys, Westlife, etc.) kaysa sa mga ibang pogi rock bands natin dito eh..
sa tingin ko kaya sila naging pogi rock kasi naging sobrang mainstream sila. yung mga music channels kasi, yung mga bands na yun yung focus nila.

In fairness naman sa industriya, mas ok naman ngayon kasi yung dating 'underground music' napapatugtog na sa mga radyo ngayon. Yun nga lang madaming nakigaya sa mga nauna kaya nawala ang creativity/originality at masyadong naging komersyal. Wala nang 'laman' ang mga karamihan sa kanta ngayon, madaming puro pera-pera ang habol sa pag gawa ng kanta.

sigh, para sakin may pro's and cons ang bawat bagay e. oo, may mga mainstream na banda ngyn. oo,sila yung mga hindi natin gusto. PERO sila yung may mga pera. im not saying this generally ah. pero tingnan na lang natn yung ibang taong walang pera, tapos sa POGI rock lang sila kumikita. diba mahirap ren magsalita. kasi kung hindi nila gagawin yun, wala silang kakainen. wala silang ipapakain sa pamilya nila. tapos yung mga ASTIG na sinasabi natin, kung iisipin nyo. paano nila binubuhay yung mga pamilya nila? diba? BADUY nga sila pero sila yung may magandang buhay. tapos ASTIG nga sila. pero kung wala ka namang pera. san naman nila kikitain yung pangkain ng pamilya nila. san nila kikitain yung pang aral ng mga anak nila. haaaaayyyyy. maswerte na siguro yung mga bandang mayaman talaga. tapos gusto pa nila yung ginagawa nila. dba?.. sigh. hirap kumita ng pera pagdating sa musika.. tsktsk.. matagal ko na naiisip toh e.. and finally nalabas ko rin.. lastly, WALA AKONG KINAKAMPIHAN. reality check lang.. hehe. peace!

perhaps its due to the your own personal taste. by that i mean that it's not quite the same music that you've grown accustomed to as you were growing up. personally, i like the way music evolves with every generation, may it be due to the listeners or the musicians themselves. there's an entire pallet of sounds in the world that could be used for music and it would be unfortunate if we would keep reusing the same old sounds and ignore the other ones, just because we're not used to them. also, we can't really start a musical revolution and prevent people from making "bad" music, nor can we deprive people of music they choose to listen to. and yes, there are people out there who enjoy mainstream music. that's why it's referred to as "mainstream", because of its popularity with the public.

also, i find it hard to define "bad music". what is it that actually makes it people cringe when they listen to it? does it really matter if other people don't like it? i am one of those who write songs for myself and not for anyone else. if any of you listen to my stuff, you'll most probably flame it or just plain ignore it, but that doesn't bother me at all. i find it unusual that people try to "adapt" themselves to whatever it is that others enjoy. again, i write songs for me and for no one else. if i play in a bar somewhere and for some reason i decide to play my originals, i wouldn't care if people boo me or praise me. i don't even care if people listen or not. i'm just happy about the fact that i was given the chance to express myself onstage. the song could be bad, but it allowed me to capture whatever it was that i was feeling at the time i wrote it. it's almost therapeutic for me. if someone approaches me after my set and gives me their opinions about the songs, may it be positive or not, i would find it a compliment still that they actually gave me a few moments of their time. i know some people think that you're not an artist unless you have an audience, but i don't claim to be that either. i'm just someone who happens to have some time to craft some songs. when i write a song, i don't say to myself "this has got to sound this way..they'll absolutely love it". the thought that others would get to listen to my songs one day doesn't even cross my mind.

at the end of the day, it's up to us to choose the music we want to listen to. if you find some types of music cringe-worthy, just don't listen to it. i'm sure other people enjoy that type of music and it's not up to us to choose what others should listen to as well. after all, we don't like being force-fed ourselves.

Talaga ngang konektado ang bawat kanta sa gumawa, napansin ko lang, once a band is accused of "making-music-just-for-money", naapektuhan patu yung musika nila.

Think of your favorite band singing the best song of your most hated band. Siguro kung yung paborito mong banda ang gumawa ng kantang naisip mo. Iba siguro ang pagkakakita natin sa kanta.

I'm sure, and if that's the case, they're welcome to it. But if you're seriously asking the question, then it's no laughing matter. Either just do something about it with what you've got to offer, or listen to better fare and support artists you like - shun "artists" who do little, in your mind, to further the state of the local music scene.

I assume that the thread was a serious question, so I answered it with a serious question in return, too.

Bakit? Ang dami kayang magagandang music na nagagawa araw-araw... local man or foreign.

The problem is yung mga sumisikat yun ang hinde kagandahan (at least sa pandinig ng iba).

The music always evolving, yung akala mong pangit ngayon paglipas ng panahon groundbreaking na pala hehehehe.

Try to find other music aside from the one's that radios, tv and the media feeds you. ang dami dyan oh!

Don't read reviews. Listen to the music instead and judge for yourself.

Kaya hindi nasasabing panget ang kanta kasi hindi sya naaayon sa gusto niyo, pero it takes a lot to compose, record and produce a song kahit gaano pa kabaduy yan or kahit ginaya lang yan, you still have to think of the lyrics and arrangement.

You wanna know why? Dahil accepted na sya ng general public and you are now a household name.

Is this because there is little or no creativity involved, most songs are just recycled from other songs and the lyrics are all about the same boring bullshizzle. Most bands are also just used to write a few "good" songs and make as much money as possible on one big blowout, like all those crappy boy bands controlled by corporations, when's the last time you heard anything about them?

hmmm about tunes, iilan lang ang tono natin eh, from c,d,e,f,g,a,b tapos mga sharps / flats. mgailang notes yun? kung sa piano mo iba-base, yung 7 white keys tsaka 5 black keys, 12 notes in all, nagkakatalo lang sa octave. ngayon, dumadaan na naman yan sa variations like minors, sevenths, diminisheds, augmenteds, etc. compare niyo dami nun sa total number ng musicians sa buong mundo. meron at meron talagang magkakatalo.
