Cockos reaper is free and doesnt have limited functions, most plugins also works for reaper.

Cubase LE(i believe this is the lite version?) is also free?(kung ito nga yung iniisip ko) pero has basic functions of recording only. Which for someone who is just starting, its not really a big deal.

I'd go for reaper since im a reaper user since day 1 and doon nako natutuo :-D

Hindi ako sure kung may default drum vst ang reaper parang wala, pero most vst's works and is compatible with reaper, so kung commercial drum vsts ang gagamitin mo like addictive drums, ezdrummer or free ones gagana lahat yan without problem.

kung guitarista ka, okay ang reaper.

if you're a keyboardist into serious midi sequencing, hands down, cubase is the obvious choice because of the various midi functions it offers. reaper has jscripts ata pero bitin pa rin last time i checked.

Dont go with LE. limited tracks, limited groups/bus to name some.

no i think walang problema sa pag render ng file. i think pangit yung library nya for playback compared sa library na gamit ng vlc and media player.

test 1:

your song, open it in multitrack then play it back on reaper. listen critically using speakers
then play the exported wav in vlc
switch between vlc and reaper, notice the difference

test 2:
open your exported wav into a blank project in reaper
play the exported wav in vlc
switch between vlc and reaper, notice the difference

test 3:
open any commercial release cd, export your favorite track to wav and add the wav into a blank reaper project
play wav in vlc
switch between vlc and reaper, notice the difference

tsaka para mas pure yung listening setup mo, dont use a mixer between your interface and studio monitor. ikabit mo yung monitors dun sa output ng interface.

i've used small behringer mixers before to control the volume of my monitors tapos gumamit din ako ng mackie big knob for a few years...they suck mids and highs

Try using foobar or any other audio player without eq.

Having used tons of DAWs, i still choose cubase every time.

There's a trick to getting discounted 'full version': Yamaha (and other) soundcards come with the basic (AI), yet special version of cubase. Source the disc image for this on the internet. It's around somewhere, i remember being able to download it. You can upgrade that to a higher version at a tiny fraction of the cost.
