Mga sir patulong naman. Ano mas maganda Joey Jordison Signature snare o Vinnie Paul Signature snare? Pros And cons po. hehehe balak ko pong bumili kc yan po ang choices ko ngaun d ko alam kung alin sa dalawa. Kung maari po sana makahingi ng tulong sa mga drummers po. Sana po matulong nyo ko.

By the way ANG GAGANDA NG MA SNARE NYO MGA SIR!!!!! D AKO NAKATULOG NG ILANG ARAW NG MAKITA KO MGA SNARE NYO.  :-D

Both the Jordison and the Vinnie Paul Signature drums are pretty good.  It's unfair to compare both drums because the two models are very different and very distinct.

The Jordison model is a 6.5"x13" steel drum.  The Vinnie Paul model is an 8"x14" maple drum.  If you like a power piccolo snare sound with an extra bite and attitude, the Jordison model is a good choice.  If you want a deep and fat-sounding drum with the power and projection to spare, the Vinnie Paul model is a good choice.  Let your ears decide.  It would also depend on your personal preference & on the type of music you play.

*****

For general snare drum talk, let's post at the All About SNARE DRUMS thread --- http://talk.philmusic.com/board/index.php/topic,20795.0.html .

Let's use this thread as a photo thread and discussion about our personal snare drums, aight?  Thanks!  8-)

I would choose the Jordison model.  I like power piccolo snare drums.  Its sound will fit on the groovier styles of music that I enjoy playing.  Its steel shell can cut through anything.  And with its 13" size, I get more "leg space" for my feet, for playing my pedals.

That's just me.  8-)

Thanks Akira. I've also been looking for this snare to try how a mahogany wood shell would sound like and now its in my snare stand.. weee!  I didn't bought it here. I had my brother purchase it in Singapore. For me to hear it from the audience's perspective, I let my friend play it on the same gig I had. All I can say is that it is one of the great sounding snares drums out there. It can produce a nice pop sound if tuned high but not so cranked up that the sound is too much of a choked sound.

@ cavsdieagram
thanks! marami pang pictures yan kaso malabo na yung iba.. medyo pasmado eh..

@ BirjandBOGGS
Talaga? sa 19 east? yun ba talaga gamit na snare sa 19east?
Uhh... hindi ko po ito nabili dito eh.. malamang mahal dito eh.. :D

@ max506
Its also my dream snare but now its right in front of my eyes. yeah!
My brother bought it for me in Singapore. Its a second hand snare (got it for S$200.. nice huh?) which only requires cleaning to make it look beautiful again. I was so excited when I got it so I cleaned it right away hihihihi..

I would like to share with you the new drum shell i acquired and assembled it into a new snare drum.

Its a JTP stave shell, maple and bubinga, 5.5 x 14 x 1/2" thick with various hardwares to complete the unit.

Shell only

The inside portion is wrapped with paper to protect it in the lacquering process

After the first batch of layers of lacquer

Finish lacquering

Guide to where the holes will be drilled

Holes drilled

Fully assembled.  Last minute decision I use the hardwares of my BP snare because I find that the gold hw looks better with the maple and bubinga shell

Stave snare and BP snare

Here's my BP snare originally

Thanks!

I got the shell off ebay at $130
Die cast hoops and strainer $127
Lugs (Mapex) from JP Php 295 per pack of 4.  Bought 5 packs

I use my old heads and tensions bolts.

Stave shells sound very much different from ply.  It took me some time to get used to it.  First thing I've noticed is that it has a very warm and full bodied sound probably due to the wood type used and the way it is constructed.  As in ang laki ng tunog! You can tune it high or low and the body is always there.  Due to this character, parang lacking na sya sa snare response so later I tried the 42 strand snare wires.  Now I got all the good characteristics in sound that I'm after, warm, full bodied, crisp and sensitive!  :-D
