Other than a Fender Bassman na Head and Cab set-up
Meron na ba nakasubok? Any thoughts? Set-up would be...
Guitar -> Pedals -> Bass Amp Head -> Electric Guitar Amp Cab (1, 2 or 4x12s). All the crunch will be coming from pedals.
I can simulate this sa Positive Grid Bias Amp pero shempre iba sa totoong buhay. hehe

Watch out for the wattage. Pansin ko sa mga bass amp head, ang tataas ng wattage (150 and up.. may umaabot pa ng 300 watts and up).
I have a bass amp here kaso hindi po na nasubukan i-hook up sa cab for that reason, it's a 300-watt amp. My 2x12 cabs are only running at 120 watts with Vintage 30s.
I did have a 50-watt Blackface Fender Bassman before which I loved thru a 2x12 cab. :-)

Nag rere-search rin ako sa ibang forums and paiba-iba rin sagot nila. Although the common theme is...like you said...watch out for the wattage. haha

I think for bass it works the other way around. Spend the most dough on the bass speaker cabinet. Work backwards and buy a great sounding tube or mosfet head. Then buy a bass guitar.
I strongly believe in terms of breakdown, the bass speaker cabinet should control 50% of the budget. The Bass amp head 35% of the budget with the bass guitar at only 15% of the budget.
Sa Pinas baliktad. Kasi siguro mas bingi and pinoy at ang nakikita nilang magandang itsura na bass guitar translates psychosomatically to a better sounding bass.

It should be ok, I saw Red Fang last year and they were all running bass amps the 2 guitarist and all. The Sunn Beta bass they all had were on orange 412s for the guitars.
