Pasingit sa discussion peeps. What are your thoughts on the new Yamaha Silent Guitar series (SLG200)? The new one features a preamp similar to a TC Electronics BodyRez, or Fishman Aura Spectrum DI, meant to emulate the sound of a miced acoustic.

^ gusto ko to for practice
hindi ako nakakaaabala
kaso ang mahal :(
~100k petot

live performance i believe its on par with martins / taylors (since piezo rin naman yun when plugged)
problema ko lang di pa ko nakakagamit in person so take my opinion with a grain of salt

the top notch guitars' sound wouldn't be captured by a piezo only pickup. top tier preamps and mic systems like the LR Baggs should be used to nail that sound.

btw, anyone here knows how Guitar Pusher records their sound?
i mean lahat nung tunog nila sa youtube is awesome, whatever acoustic is used. I'm pretty sure hindi yung sound nung pickups nila yung nilalapat nila dun sa final edited video nila for upload

any idea how to record the acoustic tone like that?

they have good mics. they use an Audio Technica AT2020 and At2021, as well as a RODE DSLR Mic. then they do a little post prod via vegas pro (volume adjustments). I've done some vids for them.

i meant iba ibang mic ginagamit nila per video. most of the time yung Rode DSLR Mic na yung gamit nila. pag finger style player, dun nila ginagamit yung AT2020/AT2021 combo para makuha ng maayos yung body taps.

sa mga vids ko at the least, isang mic lang lagi gamit, yung RODE. straight to Camera. then video and audio adjustments sa VEGAS.

I think what Ralph is trying to say is that the RODE Microphone is plugged directly sa camera, hindi yung built-in mic ng camera yung gamit.

sorry sa wording, yes that's what i meant
but DSLR's mic input has those already built-in

I have one and it sounded great to me. i am not an acoustic guitar expert. But i love the sound i am hearing. Maybe you should try it first sa store, plugged in a PA, not in an electric guitar amp. You should also try the headphone function, may studioesque sound. Love the blend mode of the piezo/"mic" emulation.

And hindi siya 100k, sa singapore its like 28-30k, magkaka gst refund kapa. And oh, walang feedback kahit loud volume.

I have stated that there are more bad sounding suhrs then there are good ones

Hi Friends,

I need your help and/or suggestions. Hirap mag backread sa thread na ito kasi 200+ pages na and i couldn't find the proper keyword.

I recently acquired a Martin DX1AE. I really like its sound pero medyo may onting issues sa playability and aesthetics. Cost cutting at its finest i guess. hehe

Eto yung issues:
a. Masyadong mataas yung action - lilihain yung bridge and nut i suppose para bumaba. Straight naman ung neck out of the box
b. Yung gilid ng neck hindi rounded. May kanto so medyo masakit sa kamay. I really don't do bar chords. Mas sanay ako na naka thumb over the E and A strings ala Jimi Hendrix
c. Gusto ko palagyan ng Herringbone purfling.
d. Install locking tuners

I've seen DIY videos sa youtube pero i'd rather have this done by a professional.

Any recommendations? Can Micsis or Guitar Hospital do these things? Not sure sa acoustic though.

Thanks,  :)

lahat yan kaya ni micsis. imho though, I'd take it to micsis for B and C, yung A and D, sa guitar pusher ko ipapagawa. buy a graphtech nut and tuners from them, tapos ipaset mo saknila. they did wonders on my takamine and phoebus. mind you, the takamine was "frankensteined" by a renowned luthier that I'd rather not name. this guy damaged the piezo element of my takamine and then said "ganyan talaga pag bone nut, hindi gagana yung piezo undersaddle sa ganyan. guitar pusher was able to restore my takamine to tiptop awesome playing conditions. micsis will work too, but I prefer guitarpusher for acoustic guitar work.

Hi guys. Worth it ba yung specs versus other brands with the same price tag?

Heres my take on your "issues"

1) since bnew yan , hindi kailangan i shave ang bridge. Pwedeng nut or saddle or both lang babawasan para bumaba ang action.

2) what do you mean gilid ng neck ? Neck profile ba ang ibig mong sabihin? If neck profile yan ,  i dont suggest doing anything about it. Usually when testing guitars ito ang dapat i check dahil Bawat guitar may kanya kanyang neck profile , Kung sakto ba sa kamay mo at playing style. Shaving it will also de-value the guitar. Its your call.

Its like redoing the building process. Mas magastos pa. Doing so will again de value your guitar. Mas mura pang bumili ka ng used na martin with herringbone purfling.

4) pwede.. but if may tuning problems , set it up first then check the tuners if sira, palitan nlng. Regarding locking tuners , i dont suggest it.

☺☺☺

Pwede na. Basta PLAY TEST It first.

If mayroon all solid or kahit solid top lng na  3k higher, kung maganda tumunog, doon na ako sa all solid or solid top.
