True. What's free in the Play Store is probably $1.49 in the App Store.

Even in Mac vs. Windows, yung SIR Reverb libre sa Windows, may bayad sa Mac!!

@ralph ang tibay ng iPhone mo!

thing is, developing android APK and iOS Apps are totally different. different environments, plus may licenses pa sa iOS. so, might as well focus muna sa isa. the app market is better on the iOS tho. mas maraming users ng iOS ang may power to buy an app compared sa android.
Yup. Thats what I said in my first post. So technically this thread did not meet its purpose if the thread starter want to save money.

The goal for this thread was not being money wise, rather I want to tackle how "worth it" are phones on the higher end of the consumer spectrum. And this was not about me wanting to dev for either mobile OS giants. I just mentioned those points, because as I said, if I can make money out of it, I will consider it as an investment. If I can make money 5x the amount of I paid for the phone, then it's worth it.

OT: In my experience, once you say "mobile development", you just can't go android only, or ios only. On my old company, 80 percent of the time, our clients would ask for both. And it's a big turn off for them if you say you can only cater one at a time. Because, as far as marketing goes, I think it would be a bigger advantage for them to have a bigger user base. The more, the many-er, right? Well, that's just my experience.

If your last statement is a question, then I think you pretty much answered it on your 1st first. 6 digits can cover it. And yes, I can attest that with my colleagues as well. So go for it! I think it will be worth your effort if this work is your passion.

On a customer perspective, when you say mobile, it can be any mobile platform. So yes turn off nga.
But in the development perspective, my opinion is that yes, you can do both. But is just more advantageous for a company to invest on 2 employees that focuses on each. However, imagine yourself getting a client that wants both, and you are the only one doing it.. So it's on you kung gagawin mo pareho. Sa tingin ko sugal sa client na pag alam niyang isang tao lang ang gagawa sa parehong platforms

I can't speak for yourself or other companies. But in my team, it takes weeks just to develop and configure a single app on a single platform.
Pero why not both nga naman. Mas pogi naman talaga if kaya mo mag gitara, tapos drums tapos kumanta.

Kung kaya mo pareho, sigurado ako bawi mo yan. Oras lang kalaban at reklamo ni client.

Now on the purpose of this thread, my answer is yes worth it ang high end phone on a consumer spectrum. Detailed explanation on my 1st post of this thread.

I agree. usually a developer focuses on 1 platform. if the app needs multi os support, best to have another developer/specialist for that language. I haven't encountered a developer na magaling sa parehas na platform. coding palang yan. pano na sa UI design and aesthetics.

that's why iOS.

the first thing these android OS' will ask you to do(provided that the custom UI your android phone has also set it to) is if you wish to sync and/or backup your phone.

i only backup my contacts and sms' using an app i download in playstore. kaya malakas din ang preference ko na dapat may external storage ang phone kasi lahat ng multimedia files(pics, vids, music, etc) nasa microsd.

and im done with modded UIs. ok na ok na ako sa Zen UI.

wala ako sa issue about backing up files. I'm pertaining to the issue on the error/fail rate of android OS vs. iOS.

then again, maganda talaga ang ZEN UI kumpara sa ibang stock android UI's swabe lang talaga ng gawa ng ASUS lately.

true, i usually back up sa pc ..kung kelan ako di nakapag back up doon pa nagcrash..
sa phone memory kasi nakalink yung cam folder so nung nagreset ayun..nadali..

oh well..

anyway ok nadin..the phone was proving to be a burden nadin due to its site and different user interface..hehe

Sir the topic is high end smartphones. But you answered yay? From what you mentioned, magagawa ng lahat ng sinabi nyo using a low end smartphone.

high end phones - yay
im not brand conscious, #1 concern is reliability (durability and aftersales support, least amount of defects, most amount of functions and how well the phone does each)

as of now the newly updated android phones still need some time to be smoothed out. LG has defects, Samsung removed memory card slot and has non-removable battery, etc.etc. All new phones today has quite a bit of frustrating issues, considering how expensive they are.

Beast performance phones are yay all the way, as the ease and convenience of mobile computing is considered a necessity.
