Iron Cobra 2007 slave pedal wobble fix
« Reply #715 on: October 30, 2010, 11:15:15 PM »
Hello guys.  I recently acquired an Iron Cobra double pedal.  And, it has the slave pedal wobble issue.

I looked for a fix and the tip i found consists of merely tightening the screw which secures the ball bearings inside the "barrel." (hard to describe.) here's the link to that tutorial. http://forum.tama.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=10125

However, this did not solve the problem.

So, I examined the issue.  And, I thought that the problem lies in the ball bearings not fitting snugly in the barrel.

So, what I did was I inserted a piece of paper to make the fit tight.

That cured the issue!!! No more play. No more wobble.

I took pictures.  But it's really blurry.  But I hope you get the idea.

With the paper inserts. Just trim the excess and replace the plastic cover.

Another angle for a better perspective.

afraid to affect the speed due to friction created by that paper?

is that paper placed between the shaft and the bearing?

BTW nice DIY!

no friction sir! yun din nga fear ko nung una.  Pero turns out, the bearings are supposed to fit snugly inside the "barrel."  I don't know if that's what you mean when you say the "paper was placed between the shaft and the bearing."

hi mga ser, for info lang, I got my imperialstar last Sept or Oct from Audiophile Ali Mall. Enjoying at as of the moment...
Curious lang ako...wood ang snare ng nabiliko while steel snare ang offered sa internet...not that I'm complaining, ok ang snare ang lakas!   :-D

i chose it over pearl, pdp, ludwig, gretsch similar-level models and i don't regret it!

hope to participate more here in the forum

Well sa internet lang kasi yan... They can replace any tama snare.. But on Catalogue po ng TAMA ang kasama po talaga nyan is wood snare.. hindi po steel... For sure pinalitan lang nila yan....
